00:00injuries um lucky lucky actually you know what dodged a bullet yeah dodged a bullet
00:06mcl no acl great so our guy quarterback protector i'm just here to protect my quarterback
00:14i'm nasty you're nasty i'm nasty not dangerous from louisiana yeah i'm out here just to play
00:21football uh i'm happy that the injuries that i mean obviously never happy for an injury but
00:27could be worse right so campbell having just an mcl maybe a couple weeks um but i think earlier
00:35in the show when i was driving in you guys were talking about luck yeah yeah i don't like the
00:40term luck oh sorry real life tom that was real life tom's lead i don't like in order to win a
00:45championship in any sport you must have luck i don't like luck it'd be like hey uh i'm going on
00:51a flight all right good luck or you don't want luck involved in that kind of thing yeah you don't
00:58want luck you want to go out and you want to take and win and produce and that takes preparation
01:05practice execution all those things and luck luck goes out the door i don't like it when somebody
01:11says hey best of luck luck is kind of out of your control even if it's just a few weeks for will
01:17campbell now i'm super worried about drake may and his health during that span of time i mean we're
01:23we are lucky because we do have a bye week during that time you also have josh mcdaniels who you know
01:29we're talking about playing the giants and they have a front that's aggressive and fast good pass rush
01:35i don't know there's people that are calling it you know top of the league fool's gold is it
01:42no but just suggesting that it's uh a really dangerous pass rush well there's two ways it has
01:49fool's gold written all over it i need a top hat and i can say that um there's two ways you can attack
01:55an aggressive front it's obviously direct and indirect which would be screens getting the ball out of the
02:03quarterback's hand quickly let them get up the field suck them up the field and then you slip in
02:08behind them um that's something that josh has done to other teams that had an aggressive front
02:14get the ball out quick you know slip screens tear screens um inside screens with the running backs
02:20all those things that kind of help the quarterback out get the ball out quick can't hold the ball can't
02:24hold the ball well i you're gonna get i i would assume you get will campbell back in yeah a couple
02:31weeks you think a couple weeks yeah i mean an mcl you're not optimistic about it yeah i mean
02:37especially especially an offensive lineman they're not running similar to what a receiver running back
02:44linebacker um shoot i think logan mankins played a super bowl with a torn acl yeah but so you could
02:50put a donjoy brace on it you can tape it so they have this tape called moleskin it's dark brown and
02:56it's very rigid so you do an mcl tape job so you kind of go top of the thigh across the mcl down your shin
03:03tape it up and then you put a brace on it gives you a little bit more rigidity there i mean i'd
03:07i've torn mine like three times and i missed one week in 09 yeah with that and you just put a brace
03:15on it and you yeah and you go and you get back out there get back out there um shine was talking
03:21taking some abuse for suggesting earlier that drake may is the best quarterback in the league
03:26yeah i i would not argue that he is not a top three quarterback at the moment anybody would argue
03:33that yeah i just don't know that he's number one matthew stafford i matthew stafford's playing out
03:38of his mind right now um you know i think when you look at the body of work and the slow start last
03:44week everyone was complaining about the slow start he was overthrowing the ball blah blah blah but he
03:48threw for almost 300 yards what do you have like 298 career high actually right yeah um so you look at
03:55that and at the end of the day he's able to overcome a little bit of the jitters to start a
04:01game on the road um overcoming that playing well making great throws towards the end of the game
04:06big conversions um it's all promising stuff so it's it's great to see that he's able to kind of put
04:13the negative plays behind him and move on and still create you know great football do you fall into
04:19the variable category that you don't care that the defense starts slow week after week so when you
04:25also do you believe when you when he says that to us over well i believe that he's like well we're
04:29winning so when you look at it when you prepare every week defensively you are usually preparing
04:35for a script and offense has 10 to 15 plays that they feel are their best plays and they run those
04:43consecutively so you're learning at the start of the game what are they trying to run what are their
04:49formations what's their personnel what are they trying to do to us and offensively when you're
04:56preparing you're looking at a defense you're saying okay what are we trying to where are we
04:59going to attack these guys and you try to put your best on on their worst right so the first drive of
05:06the games yeah you'd like to see them have a three and out and get after them a little bit better but
05:11i like the fact that they're adjusting and learning because if you can't adjust and you can't learn
05:18as the game progresses you're you're never going to win a playoff game if you can't adjust so i like
05:24the fact that they're shutting down teams when it counts and that's in the second half is there
05:29anybody come playoff time who are you afraid of well the rams look really good um obviously we
05:37wouldn't play them until super bowl super bowl but their offensive style and the way that the
05:43quarterback is playing that would be a very tough matchup um but i think in the afc
05:49dependent on if kansas city can right the ship i wouldn't be afraid to play them but if they
05:58got hot at the end and one game they got the quarterback that has done it and played at high
06:03level so you would be almost like okay we're not afraid to play this team let's beat the kansas city
06:08chiefs at home we're not afraid of them but if they did have one of those crazy games where
06:14patrick mahomes is on fire it could be a tough one someone in the twitch right now is saying if you
06:19switch stafford and may on their respective teams no one's talking about stafford right now uh well i
06:27think the difference between stafford is mobility obviously he's an older quarterback but the receiving
06:35core is tremendous yeah i mean nakua is one of the top in in the nfl right now vante adams the best
06:42red zone receiver and you have adams who not only is he a veteran he understands how to use his body
06:50red zone awareness how to set up the db how to run the routes appropriately coming back to the ball
06:56all those things that that you need in the red zone and that's why he's the best red zone receiver
07:01um so they just have a a nice run machine right now especially with the offensive coordinators i had
07:08coach you know they're on the same page with everything which is is pretty impressive
07:12the bills don't concern you no i think the bills are in a downward spiral right now you know you look at
07:20that texans game you know josh allen was just assaulted and i feel like when he gets pressured and he's
07:28trying to put the team on his back that's when he makes some bad decisions so i think right now
07:35they're struggling defensively um they're a little bit banged up and when josh allen is losing the
07:42receiving core and he doesn't know where to go with the ball that's when he has problems a big issue the
07:47pats had this past week though that i don't know how you fix it and we talked to mike brable about it
07:51on monday was at the goal line like they weren't able to convert there and they i mean 12 attempts they
07:57come away with three points there's also a stubborn mentality that some coaches can have in the low
08:03red right there and it's we're more physical than this team so let's just run it in versus let's do
08:09some misdirection and use our quarterback's legs um you know i'm sure if they could do it all over
08:14again i would do like a naked boot on fourth down you know fake the handoff and then roll out with
08:19with the quarterback so you're learning from those situations as well um i don't know if they put a
08:26heavy fullback in on that play um but they were at one point bringing in a heavy guy in the backfield
08:34to kind of lead the way um so maybe they're also trying to test themselves and say listen like if
08:40this is the playoffs and it's fourth and one on the one we got to be able to score here and not get
08:45stopped but isn't this a mcdaniels issue because this has happened multiple times now this season
08:49where you get down to the one yard line and you can't punch it in well i mean you can't or you you
08:54can and i think uh they've they what was it the digs nice little corner toss there on fourth down
09:00right before the half down in tampa um i mean you're just going through your playbook you're looking
09:06at what are our best plays with one yard to go and they obviously they they think that they could
09:12hand the ball off and the easiest way to score on the one is to hand it off to your running back
09:20and go straight in so there's just less room for air when you snap the ball to the quarterback you
09:26have to drop back and you got to throw it there's always room for air there and the space is very
09:30tight so as you move down the field and you get in the red area the 20 yard in everything's tighter
09:36you have more bodies in a shorter space so the easiest thing to do is to run the football seattle
09:41then why didn't you like against the bangles you mentioned they they have brought in bigger
09:46personnel on certain situations like kairos tonga has come in why didn't they do that against the
09:50cincinnati bangles they had third and fourth down they wanted to run the football they did not bring
09:55in any big personnel yeah that's a that's a good question and and if if if was a fifth we'd all be
10:00drunk so i think that moving forward maybe that was a learning experience they also were dealing with
10:07at times the injuries on the offensive line so i but you can at least bring in west over like he's
10:13fullback ever all the other times why why was he he not on the field we need to get you a headset
10:17get you on the i'm just i'm just saying like it's like i the draw on fourth and goal from the one
10:23is infuriating yeah it is but that's especially when this team has been bad at running the football
10:29like that all year long that's the best part about this game is we all can watch it and get angry and
10:34then elated when they score and they win these games we'll put some respect on shime's name he is a
10:39he is a soccer coach okay listen i don't know much about soccer i just know it's very frustrating
10:44when i go to four kicks in norfolk all i'm doing is standing by the glass screaming just get the
10:49kick the ball kick the ball in the net in the net but it's just about it yeah all i'm asking for
10:54some creativity rob that's all i think i think josh has been pretty creative this year you know
10:59he's got a quarterback that's shime loves a well-executed header damn right off a corner kick
11:05off a set piece greg it's gonna get much better than that you're right you're right i'm the dad
11:10that has to go sit uh in the parking lot oh no oh man it gets bad i just i well because when
11:17you're watching soccer you have to it's a different mentality different sport i just think
11:23go get it go be aggressive i mean the fellas are playing football are they not yeah they're
11:29playing football okay but it's not they're not playing tackle football and i also get aggressive
11:33well you know my son might cry and i say if you cry because i'm trying to correct you right now
11:38you'll never play again so you better stop crying but are you yelling at refs no okay thank god i'm
11:44the i'm very you know calm when it comes to that stuff okay but the kids and the crying like there's
11:50no crying in football i try to coach that up pretty pretty good so would you want your your son i think
11:57football i didn't play in the nfl uh realistically the percentages of that based on the population
12:03is very low um so i think football teaches valuable lessons and teamwork and you know being
12:09dedicated to something and understanding how to push yourself so the values and the lessons that
12:15football teaches especially now where we're losing that discipline and young young men in general um i
12:23think it's the best sport that you can put your kid in that's teamwork wise teamwork are individually
12:29accepting understanding what your role is understanding your role and being happy with it because there's
12:34a common goal well i talked to the high school team um yesterday no was it friday maybe last week
12:41um my nephew's coaching um saint uh zavarian sorry no not zavarian no um and drain and drain sorry
12:50they're in the midwest so this is back home and drain and uh i was talking to the team and i said think
12:55about when you were a freshman in high school and the first day you walked into the weight room and
12:59you saw 135 pounds and you thought about it and you're like this is going to completely destroy me
13:04and then now think about 135 you look at that weight and you laugh at it because it's like wow this is
13:11nothing but the consistency of working every single day and improving that's life right you get up you go to
13:19work you get better and you learn from your mistakes and you hope that in four years you're in a better
13:24spot that's football you know that's that's how you continue to push and when i was in high school
13:30nobody thought i was going to be an nfl football player but i took that mentality of every year i'm
13:35going to work out like madman two to three hours a day i'm not going to listen to whatever anyone else
13:40has to say about me you know think about in business wise somebody has an idea and other people
13:44are like well that's stupid and that turns out to be a multi-million dollar business right it's having
13:49belief in yourself and pushing yourself to be better and that's what football teaches you
13:55i would run through a wall for you if i could run right now you could run you just had blueberries
