00:00The men's snowboard halfpipe gold medalist at these Torino 2006 Winter Olympics is Mr. Sean White. There he is. The job was done on run number one.
00:16Will we see something special from Sean White or will it just be a show for the fans?
00:23He celebrates. The coaches celebrate.
00:39Six X Games gold medals in his career. Add an Olympic gold to that as well.
00:47Sean White has gone as high as anyone out of the pipe there.
00:53There's the McTwist. Sean White is just cruising down here.
00:59Every hit being cheered by the fans. Sean White carves it out to the finish.
01:07The Olympic gold medalist Sean White from the USA.
01:12There's Danny Cass in to celebrate with them. A 1-2 for Team USA.
01:26Mason Aguirre is in. The whole U.S. team there celebrating with Sean White.
01:35Mark Ukoski is in the finish.
01:40He's the Olympic bronze medalist.
01:44Well Sean White came into this event with so much pressure on his shoulders. The expectation levels were so high for Sean White.
01:58Sean White. We knew he could deliver at X Games.
02:04But the Olympic Games brings a different sort of pressure. It brings immediate focus from outside of the winter sports and snowboard community.
02:16Sean White has handled that with aplomb. Right into the Olympic gold medal.
02:24Stars and stripes of flying high from Sean White.
02:29We won't worry about his second run score. The job was all done on run number one.
02:35That huge first run score of 46.8 bringing Sean White the Olympic gold.
02:42At most of their goals.
03:01Snap that cap up.
03:04Yes Sean!
03:08Yeah Sean.
03:09Yeah, Sean.
03:09He is your defending Olympic gold medalist from Torino just four years ago.

04:38Thank you very much.
05:10Oh man.
05:14I was at that thing in Park City because I was there and I was just like, I know that run for Park City so I just want to put it down.
06:51You can't wait to see another angle there because the cable cam, you'll lose a little bit of the magnitude of how high they're going.
06:55So when we see the replay, we will see is this a run that could contest the gold? I think so.
07:01Sean White has just put down back-to-back 1400s in competition and absolutely stomped his run.
07:09If anybody was writing him off at the top, he has just proved snowboarding wrong again.
07:16Before coming into this competition, everybody was asking, can Sean White nail the back-to-back 1400s?
07:23He's done it, and now, well, it's in the hands of the judges.
07:28Here we go, the first 1440, the front double-court 1440.
07:33This will set him up switch on the next hit for the switch frontside 1440, the cap 1440.
07:39He almost took himself out of Olympic contention learning this trick in New Zealand this summer.
07:45He hit his face on the re-entry, got 62 stitches, and here he is.
07:50What a comeback story that alone is.
07:52There's the skyhook, the frontside 540 with the stalefish grab.
07:56And then he links that into the double McTwist, the tomahawk, double-court 1260, spun in a backside direction.
08:05And then into the frontside, double-court 1260.
08:09And seeing these camera angles, the amplitude was there.
08:13This was an incredible run, and this could definitely contest the gold medal position.
08:18We're going to have to wait and see.
08:19It is in the hands of the judges now.
08:21Is this enough from Sean White?
08:23It would be one of the most memorable, historic, legendary runs in snowboarding history.
08:31Once again, questions asked of Sean White.
08:35Has he answered them?
08:36Yes, he has!
08:37Sean White takes gold in Pyeongchang in the most emphatic fashion.
08:43The last run of the day.
08:46He takes it away from Ayumu, Hirona.
08:50Unbelievable scenes.
08:52And he quoted on his Instagram post this morning,
08:56I've been waiting for this moment for four years, and Sean White has redemption here.
09:01His third Olympic gold medal.
09:04Sean White, 31 years of age, proving there is longevity in the sport if you take care of your body and stay focused.
09:11Sean White, 31 years of age, overcame adversity, coming back from a very aggressive crash, learning progression this summer.
09:20And he has done it.
09:22And hats off to Ayumu Hirano and Scotty James, because they have pushed him to this moment.
09:27Hirano has to be thinking, what else do I have to do?
09:30Everybody knew that the young Japanese rider had the back-to-back footer teams.
09:36But Sean White, there was questions.
09:38He said, I have a surprise for you at these games.
09:42And there it was, the last run of the day, of the contest.
09:48And wow, Sean White has delivered, not just for snowboarding, but for the Olympics as a whole.
09:56Scottie James, a proud day for him.
10:13Mixed emotions as well, I'm sure, with wanting that gold.
10:17But Sean White, just when you write him off in Sochi four years ago, he goes back and he decides to just focus on snowboarding and half-pipe.
10:30No distractions.
10:32And look where it's got him.
10:33And maybe, just maybe, this gold is the most important of them all.
10:38And again, to do it at 31 years of age, the oldest competitor out here, he broke through the snowboarding scene as a phenom at such a young age.
11:08And to show that there's longevity, that he's got it.
