In Uruguay, women raised their voices on the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women. The protest focused directly on the judicial system. Under slogans such as "While they close cases, we count dead women", feminist groups denounced the state's impunity and inaction. The march in Uruguay also demanded visibility for women deprived of their freedom with the slogan "We are not all here, the prisoners are missing", uniting the fight against gender-based violence with a critique of the prison system. During the day, people in several countries around the world took to the streets to express their support for women.
