Aboard Air Force One, President Donald Trump delivered a rapid-fire series of comments to reporters, addressing controversies involving James Comey, Letitia James, and ongoing investigations. Dismissing recent legal developments, Trump argued that Comey and James “got out on a technicality,” hinting that “you’ll see what happens,” suggesting more action or revelations ahead. Pressed about whether he would consider firing FBI leadership, Trump defended Kash Patel. Watch what the President said

00:00Well, they're making concessions.
00:01Their big concession is they stop fighting,
00:03and they don't take any more land.
00:05It's not anything that was going to happen.
00:08This happened because of, uh, stupidity.
00:11I don't have a deadline.
00:12I just, you know, the deadline for me is when it's over.
00:16Is he doing a good job?
00:17This week?
00:18Cash Mattel?
00:19No, he's doing a great job, I think.
00:20Mr. President.
00:21Hey, hello, everybody.
00:22How are you?
00:23Thanks, sir.
00:24Hey.
00:24How are you?
00:25Bye.
00:26What would you like to know today?
00:28Do you start off by telling us the latest month with Russia and Ukraine?
00:32Are you expecting Zelensky to come visit you?
00:35We're having good, I don't know if you'd like to come,
00:37but I think we should get a deal done first.
00:39Uh, we're having good talks.
00:42We started with Russia, having some talks with Russia.
00:46Uh, Ukraine is doing well.
00:48I think they're pretty happy about it.
00:50I'd like to see it end.
00:51And, uh, we won't know for a little while, but we're making progress.
00:56What are the big cities?
00:57We settled eight wars, and I thought this would be one of the easier ones
01:01because of my relationship with President Putin.
01:04But this is probably one of the more difficult ones.
01:07It's a lot of hatred.
01:08This is President Putin.
01:09He's just simply made some of them.
01:11There's still lots of people.
01:13Yeah, of you.
01:13Can you tell us what it's all?
01:15Well, it's just the standard things, but people are starting to realize
01:18it's a good deal for both parties.
01:20If they've got to stop the war, they're losing a lot of people.
01:23A lot of soldiers, mostly soldiers.
01:24You've got to leave a free plan.
01:26It's a vision and a clean plan.
01:29That was in a regional proposal.
01:32And then from there, we went back and forth.
01:34So we're going to consume a seeded plant.
01:37A drug is not civil.
01:38It's a big plan.
01:39It's not a cheap machine.
01:40Well, they're talking about going land both ways
01:42and trying to clean up a border.
01:45You know, you can't go through the middle of a house.
01:47You can't go through the middle of a highway.
01:48So they're trying to work something.
01:51It's a complicated process.
01:53It doesn't go that quickly.
01:54Do you think about the U.S. to be ready here in front of security guarantees and...
01:59Well, we're working that out with Europe.
02:01Europe will be largely involved in that.
02:03We're working that out with Europe.
02:04Europe really wants to see it end in Boston.
02:07There were a lot of Republicans who felt that the first plan,
02:11the first 28-point plan, was too favorable to Russia.
02:14Have you changed that?
02:15Well, that was just a map.
02:16Well, that wasn't a map.
02:17That was not a plan.
02:18It was a concept.
02:21And from there, they've taken each one of the 28 points,
02:25and then you get down to 22 points.
02:26A lot of them were solved.
02:28And actually, very favorably solved.
02:30So we'll see what happens.
02:32Do you think that Ukraine was being asked to give too much land back to Russia?
02:37I know at one point you said they were supposed to have to get any better.
02:39It's really up.
02:40Look, the way it's going, if you look, it's just moving in one direction.
02:46So eventually, this land that over the next couple of months
02:49might be gotten by Russia anyway.
02:52So do you want to fight and lose another 50,000, 60,000 people?
02:57Or do you want to do something now?
02:59In some cases, the land is going in the other direction.
03:02So they're negotiating.
03:04They're trying to get it done.
03:05And you want to have a border.
03:07You can't have a border that goes through a highway
03:09or a border that goes through the middle of a town.
03:12So it doesn't work.
03:14So it's a long, complicated process.
03:17Very sad because so many people are being killed.
03:20What's the next step?
03:21They're going to keep talking.
03:23They're talking to Russia now.
03:25Steve Whitcomb is going over.
03:26Maybe with Jared.
03:27I'm not sure about Jared going.
03:28But he's involved in the process.
03:31Smart guy.
03:32And they're going to be meeting with President Putin, I believe, next week in Moscow.
03:37Next week in Moscow?
03:39I think so.
03:39What kinds of concessions are the Russians going to have for me?
03:43Well, they're making concessions.
03:45Their big concession is they stop fighting and they don't take any more land.
03:49Again, it's a war that would have never happened if I was president.
03:52This was not anything that was going to happen.
03:55This happened because of stupidity.
03:58It's too bad.
03:59Mr. President.
04:00If Whitcomb is going to Russia next week, does that mean that Thanksgiving deadline doesn't
04:05stand anymore?
04:07Let's see what happens.
04:08They set up a date.
04:09The date is going to be sometime in the very near future.
04:12Mr. President.
04:13Deadline?
04:14I don't have a deadline.
04:15I just, you know, the deadline for me is when it's over.
04:19And I think everybody's tired of fighting at this moment.
04:22They're losing, they're losing too many people.
04:24Can you hear this audio that Bloomberg has of Whitcomb coaching the Russians on how to
04:31appeal to you?
04:32Well, I haven't heard it, no, but that's a standard thing, you know, because he's got
04:36to sell this to Ukraine.
04:38She's got to sell Ukraine to Russia.
04:40That's what he's, that's what a dealmaker does.
04:42You've got to say, look, they want this.
04:44You've got to convince them of this.
04:46You know, that's a very standard form of negotiation.
04:49I haven't heard it, but I heard it was standard negotiation.
04:53And I would imagine he's saying the same thing to Ukraine, because each party has to give
04:59a tick.
05:00So you're worried that he's too pro-Russian?
05:03No, I think, look, this war could go on for years, and Russia's got a lot more people
05:10and a lot more soldiers, you know.
05:13So I think if Ukraine can make a deal, it's a good thing.
05:17I think it's great for both, frankly, I think it's great for both.
05:20But Ukraine's got a much smaller, it's a much smaller group of people.
05:27They've lost a lot of people.
05:28Russia's lost a lot of people.
05:29But Russia has a much bigger pool of people.
05:32Mr. President, are you planning to unveil a health care plan anytime soon?
05:37Well, we're looking at different alternatives.
05:40I mean, I like my plan the best.
05:41Don't give any money to the insurance companies.
05:43Give it to the people directly, let them go out and buy their own health care plan.
05:48And we're looking at that, if that can work.
05:50We're looking at that.
05:50That's sort of taken off.
05:52That's what I like.
05:54Don't give the money to the insurance companies.
05:57They go out.
05:58They go out and buy their own plan.
06:00You give the money to the people.
06:01I like it the best.
06:02Are you planning to extend those subsidies?
06:04I'd rather not.
06:07Somebody said I want to extend them for two years.
06:09I don't want to extend them for two years.
06:11I'd rather not extend them at all.
06:13It may be some kind of an extension may be necessary to get something else done.
06:18Because the Unaffordable Care Act has been a disaster.
06:22It's a disaster.
06:23And I said it was when it first got put in.
06:25Unfortunately, we lost a couple of Republican votes and the Democrats voted for it.
06:30It's a Democrat plan.
06:31And the premiums are going up.
06:35And it's the Democrats' fault.
06:37But, you know, they are negotiating with me.
06:39It's very interesting.
06:40They want to see something happen.
06:41Who are you talking to on the Democrats' side?
06:43I can't tell you, but we have a lot of Democrats want this plan to happen.
06:47They would love to see the money go to the people.
06:49And the people go out and get their own health care.
06:52And there would be nothing like it.
06:54Are you planning to replace Cash Mattel as a guy?
06:56Oh, he's doing a good job.
06:58Cash Mattel?
06:59Oh, he's doing a great job, I think.
07:02I think we saw those cases against James Comey and Letitia James tossed out.
07:06Do you still have faith in Lindsey Halligan?
07:09She's great.
07:10I think she's great.
07:11They got out on a technicality.
07:13And you'll see what happens from here on.
07:15But if you look at the actual charges, I think anybody that looks at it very fairly would say,
07:22boy, are they guilty.
07:24So let's see what happens over the next week.
07:26You know, the court didn't say you couldn't bring the case, re-bring the case, or appeal the case.
07:31So they have a lot of options.
07:33They're going to call the shot.
07:34I'm not calling the shot.
07:36But Lindsey's a very talented lawyer, actually.
07:39She's listening.
07:39What bet is full of, sir?
07:40Are you telling me to talk to the boss of a call?
07:43I might talk to the state, but we're discussing that with the different staffs.
07:50We might talk about Venezuela.
07:52And just to get up, the U.S. this week did, of course, name him the leader of a foreign terrorist organization.
07:58So why do you want to talk to him?
08:01Say that again.
08:03Maduro, the U.S. designated and the leader of this foreign terrorist organization.
08:08Why do you want to talk to him if he's the leader?
08:10If we can save lives and we can do things the easy way, that's fine.
08:14And if we have to do it the hard way, that's fine, too.
08:16Mr. President, can you tell me what the goal is?
08:20You should probably know what the goal is, but they've caused a lot of problems.
08:25And they've sent millions of people into our country.
08:28They had, I mean, they were probably the biggest abuser with Trent de Aragua and all the others.
08:34And they sent in the drug dealers and drug lords, the people that they sent in, the jailbirds.
08:39They opened their jails and prisons and dumped them into the United States.
08:44And we're not happy about it.
08:47Do you want to hear, Mr. President, does there any reaction to Mayor Bowser announcing she's not running for re-election in D.C.?
08:53Well, I got along with her very well.
08:55I liked her.
08:55We worked together.
08:57D.C. is now a safe community.
08:59It's a great community.
09:00People know it better than I do because you live there.
09:03But D.C. is now safe.
09:05The restaurants are booming.
09:06The place is booming.
09:08We have no crime.
09:09And we did that all in a period of three or four weeks and then made it better and better and better.
09:14And now we're setting new records.
09:16I mean, literally, it's as safe as there is anywhere in the country now.
09:19And if you go back a year, it was a very unsafe place.
09:23Before I got here, D.C. was a very unsafe.
09:26And it's our capital.
09:28We have to make it safe.
09:29We're doing really well in Memphis, Tennessee, and we're doing well in other places.
09:34The one that is really troubling is what's happening in Chicago.
09:39The crime, it's a potentially great city again, but the governor's totally lost control.
09:45That's where you had the young lady burned.
09:47That's where you had a lot of killings over the last very short period of time.
09:50Killings.
09:51The governor's totally lost control of the state, and the mayor is grossly incompetent.
09:56How was your call with the Japanese Prime Minister?
09:58I had a great talk.
10:00I have a very good relationship with her.
10:03I also had a very good talk with President Xi of China.
10:07And I think that part of the world is doing fine.
10:09Can you tell us about the content of your talks?
10:13Mostly trade.
10:16I spoke to President Xi about a lot of things, but trade and buying our farm products.
10:22And he said, if you agree with me, I think he's going to very much surprise you with the upside.
10:27I think he's going to, I asked him, I'd like you to buy it a little faster.
10:31I'd like you to buy more.
10:32And he's more or less agreed to do that.
10:34I think we will be pleasantly surprised by the actions of President Xi.
10:40I have a good relationship, great relationship with him.
10:43I like him.
10:43He likes me.
10:44I'm going to be going there in April.
10:46I guess you'll know me going with me.
10:47But I'm going to be going to China in April with Japan.
10:50Likewise, I just came back from Japan.
10:52And we have a great relationship.
10:55The new Prime Minister, myself, she's very smart.
10:58She's very strong.
10:59And she's going to be a great leader.
11:01Thank you very much, everybody.
