00:00Newly released body cam video from the Posen Police Department shows the
00:03moment officers found 23-year-old convict Morgan Geyser, who had escaped
00:08her group home in Madison, Wisconsin, on November 22nd, sparking a nationwide
00:13manhunt.
00:13So what's your last name?
00:18No one.
00:19I don't want to give you my name.
00:20Okay, well then we're gonna arrest you.
00:22Geyser, notoriously known for viciously ambushing and stabbing a classmate 19
00:26times in 2014, when she was just 12 years old, in an effort to please a made-up
00:32internet boogeyman called the Slender Man, was captured in body cam footage,
00:36hesitant to identify herself to cops, who stopped her 150 miles away from her
00:41group home at a truck stop in Posen, Illinois.
00:44What's your name, huh?
00:46Please let her go.
00:48Please let her go.
00:49Then give her your name.
00:51I did something wrong.
00:52What did you do wrong?
00:53She doesn't know what I did.
00:54Okay, that's fine.
00:56I ain't...
00:57Let me talk to you over here.
00:58What did you do wrong?
01:00I did something really wrong.
01:02But in a surprising twist, police didn't find Geyser alone.
01:05A 43-year-old transgender accomplice, captured in a mugshot with disheveled blue
01:10hair, and wearing a low-cut pink top, was also busted with a convicted stabber,
01:15and has been charged with criminal trespassing and obstructing identification.
01:19What do we know about Chad Charlie Mecca, Geyser's supposed bestie?
01:23And where were the pair headed?
01:25On Monday, CBS News reported that Geyser's runaway companion claimed to have run off with
01:29a 23-year-old, because Mecca didn't want Geyser to be alone when she escaped her care
01:34home.
01:35But less than 24 hours later, Mecca elaborated on the situation in an interview with a local
01:39TV station, WKOW.
01:41She ran because of me, said Mecca, who went on to claim that Geyser fled her group home
01:46because she was being banned from seeing her transgender best friend.
01:49She already made it clear if I didn't go with her or not she was still going, and she
01:53was not going back to jail, and I know what that means.
01:56And I was scared, and I was nervous, and I still chose to, for my friend, who I knew
02:04wasn't going to make it on her own.
02:06The pair, who met a couple of months ago at a church in Madison, Wisconsin, were possibly
02:11heading to Nashville, Tennessee, according to a police report.
02:15WKOW reported that Mecca was cleared to visit Geyser at the group home, and that the pair
02:20saw each other almost every day.
02:22The two met up at the church's parking lot, before taking public transportation to Chicago,
02:26and then walking 20 miles south to Posen, where they were arrested after police were called
02:31on reports of people loitering behind the truck stop.
02:34In 2014, Geyser, along with her friend Anissa Wire, made headlines when the friends lured
02:39fellow 6th grader Peyton Leitner into a Waukesha, Wisconsin park, and stabbed her 19 times, in
02:45an effort to impress Slender Man, a tall, slim, faceless creature that was first developed
02:51in online forums, and was said to lurk in forests traumatizing children.
02:56Miraculously, Leitner survived the horrifying assault, crawling her way to safety until she
03:01was found by a passing bicyclist.
03:03Geyser, as a 15-year-old, pleaded guilty to attempted first-degree murder in a deal that
03:08would see her put in a mental institution instead of serving jail time.
03:11She spent nearly seven years in the Winnebago Mental Health Institute, before a judge ordered
03:16her release to a group home in January, despite several, quote, red flags.
03:21In March, Waukesha County Deputy District Attorney Abby Nicolay said the state had real concerns
03:27after state health officials became aware that Geyser had read Rent Boy, a novel about murder
03:32and selling organs on the black market, and had been communicating with a man who collects
03:37murder memorabilia. Health officials also discovered that Geyser even sent the man a sketch of a
03:42decapitated body, with a postcard claiming she wanted to be intimate with him.
03:46Geyser's attorney, Anthony Cotton, argued his client hadn't done anything wrong, calling
03:51the state's request to keep her in the hospital a, quote, hit job.
03:55Waukesha County Circuit Judge Michael Boren ultimately kept to the initial decision to allow
04:00Geyser's conditional release to the group home, saying,
04:03I don't see the risk to the public.
04:05Wire, Geyser's accomplice in the vicious stabbing, pleaded guilty to attempted second-degree
04:09intentional homicide, and was also sent to a psychiatric center.
04:12She was granted release in 2021, to live with her father, and was ordered to wear a GPS monitor.
04:18The convenient a lot of the love, and was also sent to the collective operation.
04:23It's the best of one, let's say, the original a GPS monitor.
04:28If you had a GPS monitor, you didn't want to make sure the same thing,
04:32give a GPS monitor, or if you had a GPS monitor, the type of interaction.
04:35The next step is to the GPS monitor.
04:39Let's look at the GPS monitor.
04:41The GPS monitor is the opposite problem.
04:43The GPS monitor is the same, and the GPS monitor is the same, and the GPS monitor will be
