00:00The cast of Sister Act reunited on The View Thursday to celebrate the film's 25th anniversary.
00:12Whoopi Goldberg was joined by Kathy Najimy, Wendy McKenna, and the film's music supervisor
00:16Mark Shaman. They discussed their favorite memories of the film, revealed fun insights
00:20into the production, and even performed together. During the reunion, Goldberg admitted that the
00:25movie was originally intended for Bette Midler, but she turned the role down. Goldberg joked,
00:30"'Bette couldn't do it, so she turned it down, and they kind of went through a hundred million people,
00:35then got to me.'" Plus, The View co-host revealed she actually wanted to avoid singing in the film.
00:40"'Oh, I had no intentions of singing. And then Mark said,
00:43"'Oh, no, you're singing in this.'" I was like, "'Really?''
00:46Shaman worked to rectify the situation by pairing Goldberg with Jennifer Lewis and Charlotte
00:50Crossley to sing alongside her and make her feel more comfortable. Harvey Keitel even made a
00:55surprise appearance because, as he says, "'When Whoopi calls, I come.'" At the end, the cast took the
01:00stage to perform the film's version of I Will Follow Him Together.
