Transcript
00:00I did not kill him.
00:03That's not the point.
00:05Sandra Huller stars in Anatomy of a Fall as a woman who is accused of murdering her husband
00:10after he mysteriously falls to his death.
00:12The film is nominated for five Oscars this year,
00:15including a Best Actress nod for Huller and one for Best Picture.
00:18Plus, Justine Trié, who co-wrote and directed the movie,
00:21is the sole woman nominated for Best Director this year.
00:24Ahead of the ceremony, Huller and Trié spoke to The Hollywood Reporter
00:27about how they're feeling heading into the big night as first-time Oscar nominees.
00:31There will be no food, just we know.
00:33I didn't know this.
00:34There's no food, so we expect to eat before it.
00:37Honestly, just before coming here, we were like,
00:40okay, it's really unbelievable and I think we are so grateful for everything
00:44and so happy and we try to enjoy every minute of all these things.
00:49The story that I adore is nothing was made in this film to be in this situation
00:57and I love so much this story.
00:59You know, sometimes when in life you want so badly something, you know,
01:02I want to do a masterpiece, I want to make a masterpiece,
01:05I want the best actress and the best, you know,
01:07and of course it's always a disaster, you know,
01:10because you cannot have this kind of impulsive way of doing things.
01:16But all these things, just a cherry on the cake and we are so happy.
01:20I mean, it will be a wonderful evening, all in all,
01:24so I will just also try to enjoy it and be there in the moment
01:28and not too much in my head, I think, yeah.
01:30During the film's Oscar campaign, a shining star has emerged in Messi,
01:34the dog who plays Snoop in the film.
01:35The pair opened up about the massive amount of love Messi has received
01:39so far this awards season.
01:40It's incredible.
01:42This is totally crazy.
01:44I think, no, the only thing is I try to film him really like a character
01:53and not like an accessory of my lead character.
01:58And I think he has a gaze, he has really a soul in the movie.
02:05So maybe it's because of this that people could see him like a real actor.
02:15And they do, obviously.
02:17Yeah, yeah.
02:17And I think, you know, to me, as long as it's fun for the dog,
02:21it's fun for us.
02:23So, yeah.
02:23They also spoke about the film's ending
02:25and how the audience might feel when the credits roll.
02:27It's a lot of information, so I expect to be in the brain of the spectator for a few hours, you know.
02:40The music and everything that happens with the dog, to me, it's really emotional.
02:43It touches me in a place that is, yeah, I can't really describe it.
02:48But most of the time I had the feeling or when I saw the film for the first time
02:51that I want to be close to people who are meaningful in my life.
02:56So maybe that's the effect.
