00:00We filmed where the movie is actually set, which is rare, in Muskoka, Canada, and it's beautiful lake country, lots of little islands, and sometimes it takes you longer to drive around the lake to get to a location than to just simply jet ski across the lake. So there was a few moments where we got to jet ski to work.
00:16I did spend every summer in Muskoka growing up. That is very true to my life. I went to summer camp on an island up there. Yeah, every child in my summer, at least part of it, was in Muskoka. So it's a very fond, nostalgic place for me, and it kind of helped me come up with this sort of nostalgic throwback story in my own mind. And it's beautiful. I was also like, why hasn't anyone really showcased Muskoka for Muskoka before? I think they've cheated it for other places in the world.
00:46But I was excited to just showcase it to the world.
00:49Just being a kid in Canada is truly the greatest thing, and in a film, you can feel Canadian kids. You can feel it, and it's got a little bit of grit to it. But yeah, I had a deep connection to lake life. I can't go near the ocean. I have a boat. Her name's Bobby Lee. That was a big thing.
01:10When I was auditioning, I sent me doing a boat tour to the casting and production, because I have a little crabby boat as well, and so did Elliot. So I felt that that was a deep connection between us.
01:24And also no boating license.
01:25Me and Lake, we don't go too far back.
01:27Sure.
01:28I definitely grew up.
01:29Fast breath.
01:30Yeah, yeah. I mean, we're still feeling each other all. A few more dates, and maybe we can go somewhere.
01:36I grew up actually in cities, so my dad used to always try to get us out the city, so we had an RV growing up. So I used to go camping a lot, so it was really nice and refreshing to touch dirt again.
01:47However, a lake is not the same as dirt, and yeah, we just, we got to keep talking for real, for real.
01:55We had an incredible time together on the fallout, and then when I was writing this, I knew, after we cast Maisie, I knew that Maisie and Maddie had been good friends since childhood, and so I called Maddie up and was like,
02:07do you want to come be in this movie and play Maisie's best friend?
02:12Yeah, which is like, we were lucky to have to act at that point.
02:15This is our first time working together.
02:17I think we've always watched each other work, or been fans or admirers of each other, but to actually, I was actually really nervous, because you know when you're so comfortable with someone that needs to be professional, I was worried.
02:28We actually didn't have any problems with that.
02:30No, we didn't have it at all. I was definitely nervous as well, but I think honestly, on screen, there's just an added weight to it, where you can truly feel that we've known each other for a long time, and I just, I love what that feels like on camera.
02:43But yeah, I was definitely, but we didn't have to be super serious together.
02:47I think that would have been, like if we had to like cry together, like do something like that, maybe that would have been a little harder, but I think because we were being so playful, it was.
02:55Especially, I feel like all of the lake stuff, especially like Carissa and I screaming a lot in the boat, that was all genuine.
03:04Yeah, that was not fake, that was all very real reactions.
03:08I feel like the characters just like lived within us.
03:10Yeah, for sure.
03:11We were able to go home and like be ourselves, but still have that part of us.
03:15As you get more success, what is a splurge that you allow yourself, or a splurge that is still on the bucket list?
03:22Some type of vacation, I mean this is pretty far down the line I would assume, but like some type of like vacation home of some sort, like a little getaway situation.
03:31That would be my dream splurge.
03:33I was thinking more like, this is so on brand, just like health as well, just like saunas, cold plunges.
03:39I want them all in my house.
03:41Yeah, I think to like fully renovate my dream house is like the biggest splurge that I will indulge in, in life at some point.
03:48Mine is, well I have a few.
03:50The first one is to just build a bunch of homeless shelters.
03:54That would be like the biggest splurge.
03:55Like I feel like just, I don't know, just to treat other people, that would be a huge splurge for me.
03:59And the second would be to buy every single beignet and every single pot of gumbo.
04:05I could get one I had one.
04:06Mmm.
