00:00We're here at Utah's Hogel Zoo and we are looking at the tamarins. We take care of golden lion tamarins and cotton top tamarins. The cotton top tamarins is from Colombia and that's in South America and the golden lion tamarins is from Brazil and that's also in South America but they don't live in the same place.
00:30The cotton top tamarins, her name is Mindy and she is very old. She's 22 years old. The golden lion tamarins, his name is Tam and he's only 7 years old but even though there's a difference in species and age, they're best friends.
00:47Mindy, the cotton top tamarins, she's really easy going. She's friendly and she likes to just take it easy throughout the day but she gets really excited when we give her fun things to eat and play with.
01:04Tam, he's a little more shy and gets a little nervous about new things but he still gets really excited when we do give him fun things and he has a lot of energy.
01:17Tamarins are one of the smallest monkeys in the world. Both of these species are similar in size. They can sit in my hand about this big and then they have a long tail to about here.
01:27The cotton tops are easy to spot because they have a big white hairdo kind of like Albert Einstein and the golden lion tamarins have a yellowish orange hair that looks like a lion's mane going over his head.
01:40One of my favorite things about the tamarins is that they have really long fingers and it helps them get food in the wild.
01:47At the zoo, we'll give them toys that they have to stick their fingers inside to pull the food out and it's really fun to watch them eat and try and do this.
