AOTR URGENT ALERT: Racially Profiled Student—Christian Jiminez

We stand with families, advocates, and community protectors calling for immediate attention to the detention of Christian Jiminez, a 17-year-old student from McMinnville, Oregon. Christian was racially profiled and taken into ICE custody despite being a minor and a community member with deep ties to his school and town. His detention is not just a personal tragedy—it reflects a broader crisis of racialized targeting and systemic abuse of power against youth of color.

Christian is a high school student, beloved by his peers and teachers, and his loved ones deserve answers, not silence.

This alert is a call to action:

Visibility is protection. Urgency is justice. Community is accountability.

We demand coordinated efforts across state lines and full mobilization of local and federal resources to secure Christian’s immediate release. His case requires oversight, transparency, and accountability from ICE, Oregon officials, and federal agencies. If you know anything or can offer support, please contact:

Oregon State Police: 503-378-3720

McMinnville Police Department: 503-434-7307

ICE Detention Reporting and Information Line: 1-888-351-4024

This is not just a detention case—it’s a reflection of systemic neglect and racial profiling. We must not allow the lives of young people of color to be treated as expendable or forgotten.

We take care of each other. We amplify the targeted. We demand action.

00:06Reports of local detainments by Immigration and Custom Enforcement, ICE, officers in Yamhill
00:11County over the last couple days include a McMinnville High School senior whose family
00:15says is a U.S. citizen. Cesar Jimenez told the news register his brother, Christian, 17,
00:21was taken by ICE agents Friday off campus around 12.30 p.m. while the student was getting lunch
00:26in the middle of the school day. Since then, our family has been unable to locate him or receive
00:31information about his whereabouts, Cesar said. We are concerned about the detention of a minor who
00:36is a U.S. citizen, and we believe this raises serious questions about due process and the
00:41treatment of minors in immigration enforcement. He added, we have already contacted Unidos,
00:46bridging community, but since we still cannot locate him, we are deeply worried for his safety and
00:51well-being. Unidos, a non-profit that advocates for Latinos in Yamhill County, posted to its
00:57Facebook page Thursday they expected ICE activity in McMinnville and Newburgh on Friday and through
01:02the weekend. Two posts Friday by Unidos included photos of vehicles that the organization believes
01:07were abandoned following ICE detentions, including one on Micklebook Lane between 16th and 17th streets.
01:14Unidos is asking anyone with verified information to call its rapid response hotline at 503-272-1809.
