00:00In the heart of Africa, a brutal conflict has shattered lives, reshaped regions and drawn the world's attention.
00:11Yet many still don't know what's truly happening.
00:15This is the story of the Sudan Civil War.
00:19The roots of the conflict trace back decades.
00:23Sudan has long struggled with political instability, ethnic tensions and military rule.
00:29But the spark for the latest civil war ignited in April 2023.
00:35It began as a power struggle between two men.
00:38General Abdel Fattah al-Burhan, leader of the Sudanese Armed Forces,
00:44and Mohammed Hamdan Dagalo, widely known as Hemeti, commander of the Rapid Support Forces, also called the RSF.
00:54What started as a political disagreement soon exploded into open warfare.
01:00The Sudanese Armed Forces, or SAF, control the skies with aircraft and heavy artillery.
01:07Meanwhile, the RSF, formerly the notorious Janjaweed militia, is known for its mobility, urban warfare tactics and deep regional networks.
01:18This isn't just a fight over land, it's a fight for total political dominance.
01:23As the two forces clash, civilians bear the brunt of the violence.
01:28Millions have been displaced.
01:30Entire neighborhoods reduced to rubble.
01:33Basic necessities like food, water and medical care have become nearly impossible to access.
01:40The United Nations has called it one of the world's largest humanitarian crises.
01:45Global powers are watching closely.
01:48Neighboring countries fear the conflict could destabilize the entire region.
01:53Peace talks have been attempted, but so far, no lasting ceasefire has held.
01:59The capital city, Khartoum, became the main battleground.
02:03Fighting in densely populated areas turned the city into a war zone.
02:08Airstrikes, street battles and chaos have forced residents to flee or hide for months.
02:14Control of Sudan means control of key trade routes, natural resources and political influence in Africa.
02:22Both sides know this, and neither seems willing to back down.
02:26As the conflict continues, the question remains, what will be left of Sudan when the guns finally fall silent?
02:35Will peace ever return?
02:37Or will new factions rise and the cycle repeat?
02:41The Sudan Civil War is more than headlines.
02:44It's a human story, one of suffering, resilience and the hope for a better future.
