00:00Widespread flooding across nine provinces in southern Thailand has claimed 13 lives,
00:09with nearly 2 million people affected, the country's disaster management agency said on Tuesday.
00:15The flooding, caused by rising waters since the weekend beginning November 22,
00:20has disrupted daily life in provinces including Surat Thani,
00:24Nakhon Sitamarath, Trang, Fatalung, Satun, Songkhla, Patani, Yala, and Narathiwat.
00:32Local authorities have ordered evacuations in low-lying areas to minimize losses as heavy rains continue.
00:39An evacuation order for all high-risk areas in Hatyai City was issued on Monday,
00:45after floodwaters rose again in the afternoon, prompting the deployment of military and rescue teams.
00:51According to Malaysia's Ministry of Foreign Affairs,
00:54around 4,000 Malaysians are currently in Hatyai, and nearby areas affected by the flooding.
