00:00Police intercept is the rule I for.
00:02I'm going to tell my kids about this.
00:04And you're riding with the pride of Northamptonshire.
00:07Speed one, two, zero.
00:10Ace pursuit drivers.
00:12Contact, contact, contact.
00:14With air support.
00:15Got two out, stand by.
00:17I'm out!
00:18And a crack dog unit.
00:20If you leave, you will get hit.
00:23They bring down the bad guys.
00:26I believe you'll want it, mate.
00:28Keep the streets safe.
00:31Put your arms behind your back.
00:33Get on the floor.
00:34And battle 24-7.
00:37Get down on the floor.
00:39In the war on crime.
00:41Crash, crash.
00:42I'm just going out!
00:44This is what it is, isn't it?
00:45We find them, we lock them up.
00:49Coming up.
00:50A slippery customer in Corby.
00:52Vehicles here. Crash, crash, crash.
00:54Throws up a few problems.
00:56I'm missing.
00:57I'm going to be missing.
00:58Please, please.
00:59A smash.
01:01A bash.
01:02Reveals the stash to the Op Revive team.
01:06Well, that's quite a piece of grunt.
01:08When suspected burglars bail out, Lucy and Bryn go to work.
01:12It's the last gasp of Monday and Aaron Griff Griffiths is on the hunt for a silver golf.
01:25Got it.
01:26All right.
01:27I'll take.
01:286-1.
01:29I might have got it in the Corby old village.
01:30Stand by.
01:31The golf's been seen previously in another county, with balaclava-clad figures on board who are suspected of numerous car thefts.
01:38I'm unmarked.
01:39I'm unmarked.
01:40Very slow driving.
01:41Stand by.
01:42Griffiths in the unmarked Beamer 340, so anyone in the golf won't know there's an interceptor on their tail.
01:51How did it tell the occupants?
01:53I think it's two.
01:54And he can direct the cavalry without spooking the suspect.
01:58It's not aware of my presence. We're Cottenham Road out of the old village.
02:16I'm not going to make a call.
02:18I'm not going to make an attempt to stop it. We'll wait for TPAC Mobile's and other resources.
02:25The plan is to box the Golf and two TPAC units arrive.
02:31I will take over from you, mate. I'll take you through this roundabout.
02:35I've got you.
02:38I'm six-floor, TPAC Mobile, the mine of vehicle, on the roundabout.
02:42With James and Lockie taking over as the lead car and a firearms unit behind them...
02:50I'll start the indication, and it's right, right, right, against the road.
02:56Griff plans his next move.
03:02I'll just have to get ahead of it, but I think I can.
03:07As well as being an advanced driver, Griff's stinger-trained,
03:10and he's going to lay down a bed of spikes for the Golf.
03:14Going back towards Turner Road, in that direction, anyway.
03:18Do you want to get a stinger out? Stand by.
03:25It's all about predicting the suspect's route.
03:30At the junction, wait.
03:32But unfortunately, the Golf's driver hasn't read the script.
03:36Vehicle's increased its speed slightly.
03:39Long side.
03:40I'm going to assume it's a bit of a way of your presence now.
03:44Yeah, I'll say so.
03:45The vehicle is now going to stop.
03:47That way.
03:48That way.
03:50The Golf's taken off, and the pursuit is on.
03:53It's going that way.
03:54Yeah, please fight for...
03:56...and it's a pitfall, approaching Oakley Road, wait.
04:01As Griff plays catch-up...
04:02Right, right, right, up Oakley Road.
04:04In the lead car, James and Rocky are all over the runaway.
04:14Yeah, speed, five, four.
04:17Risk is low.
04:19The suspect driver's not exactly Lewis Hamilton.
04:23Speed is low.
04:24Stand by.
04:25And it's left, left, left.
04:26But the roads are too tight to box him in.
04:30Stinging his tyres is still their best bet, if they can pull it on.
04:34I reckon you've got a stinger bet.
04:38Though who needs tactics when your target's driving is this bad?
04:44Vehicle's here.
04:45Crash, crash, crash.
04:46The passengers legged it, but Lockie goes for the driver.
04:54Right, right.
04:55Out of the car, out of the car now.
04:56OK, right.
04:57Who's a bit of a change from your typical boy racer.
05:01Right, right, listen, I get it, I get it.
05:04Oh, right.
05:06Right, OK.
05:07Oh, my God.
05:07Do you have to do this?
05:08Yes.
05:10It's more than a time...
05:11I didn't know what to do.
05:12And it's more than a time you're under the rest of the phone.
05:14Give me either a hand.
05:14Oh, I didn't know if you wanted it.
05:17Sorry.
05:19Phone had to stop.
05:20Wait, wait, no, you don't get it.
05:22Wait, please.
05:23Who's that?
05:24Who's that?
05:25What's his name?
05:26He asked me to...
05:27No, he asked me to let him in the car.
05:28I don't get it.
05:29What's his name?
05:29I don't know.
05:31Sure you don't?
05:31No, I don't know.
05:33Listen, trust me, please.
05:34I'm actually being serious.
05:35He got...
05:36He asked me for help, yeah?
05:38I'm going to let him in the car.
05:39This is my friend's car, please.
05:41This is my friend's car.
05:42I feel sick.
05:43I'm going to be sick.
05:43Wait, please.
05:44Sit, you're going to...
05:45Sit, go.
05:47Perhaps a car sickness was caused by the low-speed skid.
05:52And while they deal with the driver...
05:55Which way?
05:56Griff keeps his eyes peeled for the passenger.
06:00But he's done one in the dark.
06:02He's gone into a field, a play park, on a pedal cycle.
06:10He's long run.
06:12So he heads for the stacked golf.
06:14Okay.
06:15You good?
06:17Yeah, yeah, we're good.
06:18She's in custom just to search the vehicle now.
06:20The intel on the car seems spot on.
06:24The passenger side took down the side of the seat.
06:32Got a black balaclava.
06:34So we've got balaclavas.
06:38We've got a tool at the moment, a little bit of cannabis, bank card.
06:42So that's just from this front area here at the moment.
06:45So slowly clearing our way through the vehicle.
06:47And see what else we can find.
06:51With cannabis in the car, they're going to do a drugs wipe on the driver.
06:56And they suspect she's under the influence of more than weed.
07:01Her purse down the driver's side.
07:03Sorry?
07:04Her purse down the driver's side.
07:06Got that inside.
07:08Okay.
07:09It's a small bag of white powder.
07:12I hope you get some evidence bags.
07:14You might need a few of those.
07:17What's that?
07:20Oh, that's right, yeah.
07:23Ah, it's, um...
07:25Crack, isn't it?
07:27Yeah.
07:28The car is like a dodgy Aladdin's cave.
07:30I think we'll have a fence of weapon in a bag as well.
07:33What's that? Is that a ball in a sock?
07:34Yeah.
07:35Prison style, that, isn't it?
07:36That's in her handbag.
07:38I'm guessing a pool ball.
07:40Looking at that, looks like it's the sort of size for a pool ball in a sock.
07:43Lockie's seen most things in his Interceptor career, but not this.
07:4918 years in the job and you hear stories, but I've never come across a pool ball in a sock before.
07:53She's already been arrested for failing to stop, and the charges are starting to stack up.
08:02You'll now be further arrested for dangerous driving, driving without insurance, driving otherwise in accordance with a licence, possession of Class A, possession of Class B, and possession of an offensive weapon at this time.
08:16So on the floor, we found this, which is, I'd suspect to be crack cocaine, so you see it's quite shiny, and it's in rock form.
08:26That was found on the floor there, obviously next to the vehicle, and then inside the purse of the subject's been arrested.
08:32Got two, an empty bag, and a bag that's still got powder form substance, which I'd suspect to be cocaine, or could be amphetamine, and that's been found in the purse.
08:43Yeah, a pot with quite a few buds of cannabis in.
08:50The drug's wipe result comes as no surprise.
08:53Cannabis and cocaine.
08:58They're also under arrest in the section 5A of the road traffic.
09:01Driving, a motor vehicle, or the prescribed limits of cannabis and cocaine.
09:06The young suspect will have plenty to think about during her night in the cells,
09:10and it's a welcome, if slightly unexpected, result for the team.
09:16Really tiny little girl.
09:18Yeah, it was a bit of a surprise.
09:20I think she was surprised to see us as well, judged by her reaction when we first got there and started dragging her out of the car.
09:25The male didn't want to hang around and speak to us, so there's enquiries ongoing as to who he is.
09:29But she's got a lot of questions to answer in the morning.
09:32The driver pleaded guilty to dangerous driving and having no licence or insurance.
09:39She received 12 months' imprisonment, suspended for 24 months, and a 12-month driving ban.
09:44No further action was taken with regards to failing to stop, possession of drugs, the offensive weapon, or the alleged car thefts.
09:54However, for drug driving, she was banned for a further 20 months.
10:00The passenger is still a wanted man.
10:02Coming up, five men went to mow down a cannabis farm.
10:13They're going to scream their arms, a couple of weeks.
10:17Oi, what do you want?
10:17Oi, you!
10:18Oi, what do you want?
10:19And Lucy's faithful hound, Bryn.
10:21Don't be where you are now!
10:23Don't be where you are!
10:23You've got me and hold him.
10:25Gets his teeth stuck in.
10:27Ah!
10:28Ah!
10:32In one month, English and Welsh police targeted cannabis grows run by organised crime groups, or OCGs.
10:51Please!
10:53Nearly 200,000 plants were seized with an estimated street value of between £115 and £130 million.
11:02This is on an industrial level.
11:05Often, these cannabis farms not only cause a blight on local communities, but also involve criminals exploiting vulnerable people.
11:13Literally, their whole life is just looking after these cannabis farms.
11:20Intelligence suggests there's cannabis grows at two addresses in Rushton.
11:25The neighbourhood's team are tackling one, and the Operation Revive Unit, including Connor and Brad, are heading to the other.
11:34So, we go in, and we can see, obviously, hopefully, lots of rooms of cannabis, one room where they live in, which will probably have a farmer, who's normally an illegal immigrant or someone who's been exploited inside.
11:50But they'll probably be there, so they can be unpredictable, because they get told all sorts of rumours about the police, that when we go in, we'll kill them, or subject them to serious violence, and whether so there, they can be very unpredictable.
12:02But it's not only angry farmers the team have to be on their guard for.
12:08We know that the OCGs that use these addresses will sometimes place electric wires so that we can get caught on them, or spikes, needles, trapdoors.
12:18They can get very creative, so...
12:20And like our normal drugs warrant, where we run in and get hungs on people very quickly, once we're in, we're going to go in a bit slower today, and just watch where we're going.
12:32Last year's nationwide crackdown saw Northamptonshire coppers carry out 21 search warrants on suspected weed farms, and seize more than 5,000 cannabis plants.
12:43And though the team can't be sure the intel on this property is accurate, it smells promising.
12:50Yeah.
12:51Stinks of weed.
12:52We'll go to a hoolibar then for the glass.
12:53Yeah.
12:56They use the hoolibar first to remove the glass for their own safety.
13:09Glass cleared.
13:11They unleash the 16-kilo key that unlocks every door.
13:20Although this one's proving a tough nut to crack.
13:26Finally...
13:27Slow, slow, slow, slow, slow, slow.
13:30Police!
13:31Police!
13:32They enter with caution in case of booby traps.
13:35I've got father out.
13:37Police!
13:39One in the address, gone back inside.
13:41Did you hear that?
13:41Yeah.
13:42Someone inside tried to make a run for it.
13:45Police!
13:46Come to the door!
13:47Police!
13:47But the team has the rear covered, and the runaway knows the game is up.
13:51Come to me!
13:51Now!
13:52Turn around!
13:53Turn around!
13:54Turn around!
13:54Hands behind your back!
13:56Hands behind your back!
14:00Right, at the minute you're detained on the Section 23 of the Misuse of Drugs Act.
14:03Adam, upstairs.
14:04Okay.
14:05Come this way.
14:07Police!
14:07I'm entertained.
14:08This could be the farmer.
14:10And the search is on for any others.
14:12Check that room.
14:13Police!
14:15Show yourself, police!
14:16Police, officers, show yourself!
14:17Police!
14:21Right, how do you want to do it?
14:22Check that door first.
14:25Check that room, I'll stay out here.
14:27Doesn't look like there's anyone else home.
14:30Police, show yourself.
14:31But they're still concerned about any nasty surprises.
14:35Don't touch the door handle yet.
14:36Satisfied it's safe, they draw back the curtain on this outfit.
14:44This isn't just a bit of homegrown.
14:48It's fine.
14:50Er, check there.
14:52And it's not just one room.
14:54Let me plant.
14:56Er.
14:57This whole house has been converted into a sophisticated cannabis farm.
15:02Downstairs is one huge grow in the living room.
15:07Er, on the top floor, we've got three bedrooms full, um, of cannabis grows, um, all mature
15:12plants.
15:13And then the loft is also covered, um, well, our forensic photo has been taken of everything.
15:18Er, we'll see some of the plants, um, and then we'll put it all for questioning to the
15:22chap we've rested downstairs.
15:24Um, and then the cannabis will completely be removed from the property.
15:28They nip this in the bud, just in time.
15:32Oh, that's quite a decent grow.
15:34Like, lengthwise, they're ready to pretty much harvest.
15:37A couple of weeks.
15:38They're ready to be going.
15:40It's not.
15:42Very, very shortly.
15:43The property wasn't booby-trapped, but Connors found something else potentially meant for
15:48unexpected visitors.
15:52Big stick.
15:53There's not much to it.
15:54He was down by the side of the bed, so he's obviously kept it there in case someone's
15:58coming in that he doesn't want to have come in, but today he decided to try and run away
16:03instead of beat us over the head with it.
16:07As well as the weapon, they've discovered some revealing documents.
16:11Ooh, I like this.
16:12We've got an IS-91.
16:13It's detention paperwork.
16:14It seems the suspect is awaiting a decision from immigration on whether he'll be allowed
16:19to stay in the country.
16:20So it looks like that he was given paperwork, directing him to stay at a place called the
16:26Atrium Hotel, so it's quite possible that he's been contacted by, yeah, well, been contacted
16:34by other members of the same community and basically been enticed from that hotel to
16:40work in a cannabis farm.
16:42The time's 9.50, under arrest for cultivation of cannabis.
16:45Don't have to say anything, but may I be defence.
16:46Do not mention one question, so I'm from which you later on in court.
16:48Anything you do say may be given in evidence.
16:49Most of the crop will be destroyed, but a few plants are bagged up for analysis.
16:56So they'll go to drug experts in a different station who will then weigh it, and then they
17:05do various tests and all sorts to work out what they think it weighs and how much it'll
17:10be worth.
17:10And then that will then be submitted to the courts, give an idea of how much this operation
17:16was worth to him.
17:19Although maths wasn't Connor's favourite subject at school, he's a damp hand at totting up
17:24the value of a major weed farm.
17:26If they get like, say, three or four crops in a year, and they're getting 150, 200 plus
17:33plants in each one, and it's got a rough street value of a grander plant, you know, you are
17:38getting into the millions, you know, it's got going over a period of time, and they won't
17:44have just one, they'll have, you know, in a couple of towns in the area, they might have,
17:49you know, sweep five and ten on the go at any one time.
17:52It's a massive operation.
17:57But not everyone will be sharing in the profits, with the farmer likely at the bottom of the
18:02pile.
18:03Well, he's already told us that he's coming off a boat from the channel, and that he's
18:09been asked, couldn't find work, so he's potentially been exploited into doing this.
18:14So this is as much as about safeguarding him as it is getting this to not be allowed on
18:19the street.
18:23The farmer of Weed House pleaded guilty to growing the cannabis, and was sent down for
18:2812 months at His Majesty's pleasure.
18:30A total of 200 plants, with a street value of 140 grand, were destroyed.
18:36The Northamptonshire force has 15 dog handlers, including Lucy Scullthorpe, who's on training
18:45duty today with four-year-old German shepherd, Bryn.
18:49Come on.
18:50Where is he?
18:53One of the force's top trackers, Bryn sniffed out a rogues gallery in the line of duty.
18:58But even master crime fighters need regular practice.
19:02Where is he?
19:03Drawing the short straw this morning, and playing a hidden suspect, is Sean, an instructor
19:09from the dog unit.
19:12Some suspects, especially those on drink or drugs, think they can take on a police dog.
19:17They quickly learn that they can't.
19:21Hey, you!
19:22Get away from the dog!
19:24Get away from me!
19:25Stay where you are!
19:25Stay where you are now!
19:27Stay where you are!
19:28You've got me and hold him!
19:29Arrgh!
19:29Arrgh!
19:30Good boy!
19:32Arrgh!
19:33Man versus dog is usually a one-sided fight.
19:38Arrgh!
19:38Okay!
19:39Okay!
19:39Arrgh!
19:41Arrgh!
19:42Bryn!
19:43Ow!
19:43Come on!
19:44Arrgh!
19:45Good boy!
19:46Yes, good lad!
19:47Good boy!
19:48Most bad guys forego the fists and make good with their legs.
19:54Oi, you in the bushes!
19:56Stay where you are!
19:57Stay where you are!
19:57Stay where you are!
19:58Hold him!
19:59Usually with a similar result.
20:03Arrgh!
20:04Arrgh!
20:04Arrgh!
20:05Arrgh!
20:05Arrgh!
20:06Arrgh!
20:06Arrgh!
20:07Arrgh!
20:07Arrgh!
20:08Arrgh!
20:08Arrgh!
20:09Arrgh!
20:09Brin's favourite snack is chicken feet, but he'll make do with some padded arm.
20:13Arrgh!
20:13Arrgh!
20:14Arrgh!
20:14Arrgh!
20:15Arrgh!
20:15Arrgh!
20:16Arrgh!
20:16Arrgh!
20:16I'm fighting with the dog!
20:19Brin!
20:19Arrgh!
20:20Arrgh!
20:20Arrgh!
20:21Arrgh!
20:21Good boy!
20:22Training course complete.
20:23Good lad!
20:24Yes!
20:24Good boy!
20:25Real life action beckons.
20:27Good boy!
20:31It's late night in Wellingborough, and the dynamic duo are after a pair of suspected
20:36burglars failing to stop in a stolen van.
20:40Road conditions are bad, visibility is poor, and the suspect's driving is as ropey as the
20:45weather.
20:53Cutting through the rain at more than twice the speed limit, he's running on borrowed
20:57time.
20:59And the inevitable is just around the corner.
21:02Arrgh!
21:03Arrgh!
21:04Arrgh!
21:05Arrgh!
21:06Arrgh!
21:07Arrgh!
21:08Arrgh!
21:09Arrgh!
21:10Arrgh!
21:11Arrgh!
21:12Arrgh!
21:13Arrgh!
21:14Arrgh!
21:15Arrgh!
21:16Arrgh!
21:17Traurgh!
21:18Arrgh!
21:19Go round to Lucy!
21:20They might have a head start, but Lucy and Brin are up for the challenge!
21:27Arrgh!
21:28Arrgh!
21:29Arrgh!
21:30.
21:31Arrgh!
21:32Mate, trust me.
21:33Brin will find them.
21:34Yeah.
21:35The fleeing suspects will have left scent trails as they clambered through trees and vegetation.
21:40To Brin's fine attuned nose, it's a trail of bad guy breadcrumbs.
21:43breadcrumbs, and the hunt is on.
21:46Fish, yes, I'm chucking.
21:47Standby.
21:50It's tough going, but a few brambles
21:55and a bit of water aren't going to stop them.
22:01They emerge from the woods into a field next to some houses,
22:04and Lucy updates the team with their progress.
22:08That one's everywhere across the stream.
22:11The wards are housing estate.
22:13My location is on the group of the ALVs.
22:17With a sense of smell 10,000 times more sensitive than a human's,
22:21Bryn's homing in like a scent-guided missile.
22:24Yep, yep.
22:26Yep, we're going.
22:30After 25 minutes of tracking,
22:33Bryn follows his nose to a back garden that seems deserted.
22:38But the dog knows otherwise and leads Lucy to some garden furniture
22:45covered by a tarpaulin.
22:47Lisa, the dog, come out now!
22:49Come out now!
22:50Do you understand?
22:51You've got bitten by the dog.
22:53Yeah, yeah.
22:54Right, the dog's on the lead.
22:55Come out slowly.
22:57I'm trapped, I'm trapped.
22:59Right, my colleague's going to come in with no dog.
23:03If you make any sudden movements, the dog will bite you.
23:06Do you understand?
23:09Right, my colleague's going to come in under the garden furniture.
23:13Hours of training have paid off and Bryn has his man,
23:17who was cowering under the tarp.
23:19Good boy, Bryn.
23:21Wait, watch him.
23:23The suspect sensibly surrenders and it looks like Bryn
23:26will be getting his chicken feet tonight.
23:28Good lad.
23:30Good boy, Brynster.
23:32Clever boy.
23:34Bryn's undercover runaway turned out to be the passenger from the van.
23:38He was found guilty of an unrelated offence of causing GBH
23:42and was banged up for two years.
23:44Forensics identified the driver,
23:47who pleaded guilty to GBH and dangerous driving.
23:50No action was taken against either of them for burglary or vehicle theft.
23:54A good night's work and dogged determination.
24:01Coming up.
24:02Good morning.
24:03Can you get out?
24:05No.
24:06You can't get out?
24:07There's no escape for a drink driver.
24:08Hello.
24:09Hello.
24:10And Dave and Callum.
24:11Night, you're sick.
24:14Deal with a bloke in a hurry.
24:16He's being pursued.
24:18Yeah.
24:19All over the shop.
24:20According to the UK government, more than 28,000 people a year are convicted of drink driving.
24:38And the interceptors know only too well that drivers who are over the limit are an unpredictable breed.
24:47Sometimes it can be aggressive.
24:48Obviously, we're prepared to deal with that if it is the case, they don't want to be caught.
24:52I understand that there are no implications of what's going to happen if they do get caught drinking driving.
24:57And get people that accept it for what it is and are apologetic and genuinely are a morsel with it.
25:05Unfortunately, we still get dealt with the same way.
25:07We've had people last week that just don't seem to care or understand the issues with it.
25:13But then we see it firsthand on the roads what the implications of drink driving can be and the collisions that can occur because of it.
25:23The wee small hours after Saturday night are prime time for drink drivers.
25:32And as Bomber and Rob make their way to an RTC in Kettering, they have low expectations of what awaits.
25:41There's been a report of a collision whereby a little red Corsa has collided with a BMW.
25:53But caller suspects that the driver of the Corsa might be under the influence of alcohol.
25:57Sorry, the female that's tried to leave her vehicle is wedged under another car, so she can't leave.
26:04With the suspected drink driver potentially trying to flee, Bomber's not hanging about.
26:13That's one way.
26:16Is this caller?
26:17Oh, Karen's road, yeah.
26:18Oh, there she is.
26:19Rob sums up the scene.
26:24Oh, dear.
26:28The car's wedged facing the wrong way down a one-way street with the driver at the wheel.
26:33Oh, good morning.
26:37Can you get out?
26:38No.
26:39You can't get out?
26:40I don't know.
26:41Hello.
26:42Hello.
26:43What's happened?
26:46Right, so basically, I've been here.
26:48Right.
26:49Trying to get into my car.
26:50Right.
26:51And that's happened.
26:54That's it.
26:55That's just happened, is it?
26:56Makes perfect sense.
26:57Why don't you come and join me in the back of my car for the time being?
27:00OK.
27:01Start going through getting your car sorted, shall we?
27:03Right in the event.
27:04Where are your keys?
27:05Where are the keys for the car?
27:07Yeah.
27:08Take them.
27:09There you go.
27:10So, go around this side.
27:11The best place for this wobbly suspect...
27:13And watch yourself there.
27:15...is in the back of a police car.
27:17I've got my breath box ready.
27:20Fine.
27:21I was going to say, if you'd have given me a minute, I could have got that out your way.
27:25Having been quite chatty, she's now gone all shy.
27:29Doesn't want to speak to me now.
27:32Interesting.
27:33But the onlookers are happy to talk.
27:37Who's...
27:39Has anyone seen what's happened?
27:41We've all heard it.
27:42We've all heard it.
27:43According to witnesses, the lady has been trying to reverse her Corsa out for about 30 minutes.
27:51Bomber does some digging.
27:53What's your name?
27:54Are you joking?
27:56No, what's your name?
27:57Is that a joke?
27:58No.
27:59What is your name?
28:01I'm a little tiny right now.
28:03No one's joking here.
28:05Around 260 people are killed each year as a result of drink driving, and Bomber is deadly serious.
28:12I suspect that you've been drinking.
28:15I need you to provide a sample.
28:19If you don't provide one, though, you'll be arrested.
28:22You know that, don't you?
28:24Yeah?
28:25Yeah.
28:26Failing to provide without a reasonable excuse is treated as severely as being caught driving over the limit.
28:34What is your name?
28:36Sorry?
28:37Hello?
28:38And failing to talk isn't going to help her either.
28:42Phone to the tube tip, please, until I tell you to stop.
28:44No, thanks.
28:45You're not...
28:46You're refusing?
28:47Yeah.
28:48OK, you're under arrest on suspicion of failing to provide...
28:50Yes.
28:51...a sample of breath for analysis.
28:54OK?
28:55You don't have to say anything, but it may harm your defence if you do not mention when questioning something later lying in court.
29:00Anything you do say may be given evidence.
29:02OK?
29:03Right.
29:05That was simple.
29:09She's just failed to provide.
29:11Romeo Papa 14.
29:13Another unit will recover the car.
29:17And Bommer seems to be making some progress.
29:20You...
29:21OK.
29:22There's nothing wrong.
29:23Well, you have.
29:25You're under arrest now.
29:26What have you got?
29:27For failing to provide a suitable sample.
29:32OK.
29:33Right.
29:34Jump in the car, please.
29:39Bommer's been on the force for nearly 20 years and has zero tolerance.
29:42For drink drivers.
29:44But he's giving her one last chance.
29:47Right.
29:48I can do this again.
29:49Do you want to provide a sample of breath?
29:51You're going to be arrested anyway.
29:53No.
29:54OK.
29:55Fair enough.
29:56This chatterbox is off for a trip to the Nick.
30:00Because I suspect that you drink driving.
30:02To blow on the evidential breath test machine.
30:05What's your surname?
30:06But there's still a wall of silence.
30:10Come on.
30:12Come on then.
30:13We'll go and speak to the skipper.
30:16Sergeant.
30:17He's through here.
30:18Perhaps you'll open up to the Sarge.
30:21Same desk.
30:22This way.
30:23This way around.
30:24And we're just going into here.
30:26So if you want to just stand up in front of where this gap is, that'd be ideal.
30:29That's it.
30:30I'll do.
30:31I don't have to do this.
30:33You do.
30:34You do?
30:35No, you absolutely do.
30:36Because it's part of the book and the improved process.
30:38OK.
30:39We'll leave the handcuffs on now.
30:41Face the desk and speak to the Sargeant.
30:44It's a simple request.
30:46Act like an adult.
30:47But it looks like this drink driver doesn't want to turn around.
30:55I require you to provide two specimens of breath for analysis by means of an approved device.
31:02This is really important, OK?
31:05You need to listen to this.
31:06I warn you that failure to provide either of these specimens will render you liable to a prosecution.
31:14Do you agree to provide two specimens of breath for analysis?
31:18Has she been saving her breath for the evidential test machine?
31:22So do you agree to provide two specimens of breath for analysis?
31:26Doesn't look like it.
31:29OK.
31:31Right.
31:32That's fine then.
31:33There's no point in trying to drag this on longer than it needs to be.
31:37Do you want to take a few of your drink?
31:38No.
31:39Let's have one tell.
31:40Good effort, but not the right one.
31:43We don't know how drunk she is, but I suspect she's going to be well over the drink drive limit.
31:49And so she's been put into the cell.
31:52She'll spend the night there.
31:53Then in the morning, we'll stick an interview on her, but ultimately she's going to be charged
31:58with failing to provide.
31:59Then she'll go to court and she'll face a disqualification.
32:03So whether you decide to provide an example or not, she's going to lose her driving license either way.
32:11Little Miss Silent found her voice and pleaded guilty for failing to provide.
32:18She was banned for 18 months and ordered to pay £439 in fines.
32:23Another major contributor to road accidents in the UK is speeding.
32:33We're at 114, 115.
32:37It not only raises the likelihood of a collision.
32:40Speed 110, no traffic, no pedestrians.
32:43It also increases the chances of you being killed or seriously injured as a result.
32:49Car speeds, 130.
32:52That's just a bong.
32:54And interceptors have little sympathy for the speed demons.
32:57I think it's just selfish really.
32:59It's a little bit like drink driving, isn't it?
33:01People do it because they think they'll get away with it and they think there won't be any consequences.
33:09There's no real need for it, you know.
33:12It's shown that speeding by even like 10, 20 miles an hour doesn't really make that much difference to your journey time.
33:21So there's no point.
33:23You put yourself and others at quite a lot more risk for not really any benefit.
33:39Interceptor Dave Lee and Callum are in the unmarked XC90 with eyes on a nippy Ford Focus ST line.
33:48He's got my interest because he's right at the chuff of that beamer.
33:51And obviously knowing that he's got no plates, number plates on, might make him think that he can drive like a buffoon.
34:00The tailgating driver has trade plates which allow those in the motor trade to temporarily drive vehicles without having to register them.
34:09Actually, if he's delivered that to a customer, if that was my car, I wouldn't be very happy.
34:15And Dave's not happy with the blokes driving.
34:19Well, I've certainly got 19, blocked at 90.
34:23Look, it's just raring up behind stuff, isn't it?
34:2796.
34:30Exceeding the speed limit was estimated to be a contributory factor in 27% of UK road deaths last year.
34:39Aggressive driving at these speeds is a recipe for disaster.
34:43He's bullying people out of the way, isn't he?
34:46He is, isn't he?
34:47There's nothing smooth about his driving either.
34:49No, there isn't. It's all very, you know, erratic, isn't it?
34:52Yeah.
34:53He's heading for points on his licence, and it's all been pointless.
34:56You know, look, he's taking off again. Why? Because the traffic lights are red.
35:03He's being pursued.
35:04Yeah.
35:05All over the shop.
35:07The driver's clearly unaware of the unmarked car tailing him.
35:12So that's 70 and a boy.
35:1471.
35:15It's time to pull him over, but there's no need.
35:18There he is.
35:19Oh.
35:20Happy days.
35:21As he's pulled into a dealership, thankfully in one piece.
35:25And the penny's dropped.
35:27Well, it has now, because I've put all the blue lights on, so...
35:36Hello, driver.
35:37Hello.
35:38Because I need to speak to you about a traffic offence, I'm going to caution you,
35:40so you do not have to say anything, but it may help me defence if you do not mention when questioned,
35:44something which you'll later align in court.
35:46Anything you do say may be given in evidence.
35:48Do you know why I've stopped to speak to you now?
35:51I think, yes.
35:53Why am I talking to you?
35:55Maybe I'm speed fast, er...
35:59Diving fast, or what?
36:01Maybe? Is that a maybe, or are you?
36:03No, I'm so simple.
36:05You are.
36:06Are you in any rush to get anywhere?
36:07No.
36:08No?
36:09OK.
36:10Have you got your driving licence with you, please?
36:12Er...
36:13Just...
36:14Speeding at over 66 miles per hour in a 40 could mean six penalty points,
36:18and it looks like he's just the wrong side.
36:21So we've got you at 67 miles an hour in a 40.
36:27Yes, sir.
36:28You've also been driving up the backside of everyone else and trying to push them out of the way,
36:32bully your way through traffic.
36:34Yeah, man.
36:35Swerving in and out of lanes.
36:36I know this, sir.
36:38Is this your job?
36:40Possibly not for much longer.
36:42The dealership were equally concerned that obviously this is a customer's car and a bit upset with the way that it was being driven.
36:51But that sort of driving is not acceptable.
36:54Whether that's how he normally drives or whether, because there's no number plates on it, there would be no, you know, consequence.
37:02He might feel a bit immune to traffic offences.
37:05I don't know.
37:07But either way, hopefully this might change his manner of driving.
37:11And if it changes it and it makes it a little bit better, then, you know, we've done our job.
37:15So you're free to go and drive safe, OK?
37:18No, I'm fine, mate. Sorry.
37:20That's OK. Thank you very much.
37:21All good.
37:22All good.
37:24Speedy was reported for driving without due care and attention.
37:27His fate rests with the criminal justice unit.
37:34Still to come.
37:35See the double yellow lines?
37:36If you want a zigzag line, you can't park on zigzag lines.
37:39No, absolutely.
37:40You wait all episode for a zigzag line offence.
37:43Stay there, I'll give you a bit of paper.
37:45And then two come along in the same story.
37:48She's got some materials.
37:49Give me your parts on zigzag lines.
37:51I can't park anywhere.
37:52Some of the lesser known highway code rules include fitting a sat-nav to the wrong part of your windscreen,
38:11not sleeping in your car under the influence of alcohol, and beeping your horn when stationary.
38:18But Michael Hollowell is thinking about rule 191.
38:22not parking on a zigzag line leading off a pedestrian crossing like the driver of the Hyundai.
38:29And there he is.
38:31The bloke makes a half-hearted dash for it.
38:33Excuse me.
38:34Hello.
38:35But it's not exactly the great escape.
38:36On the pavement.
38:37Shut your door.
38:38Shut your door.
38:39Shut your door.
38:40Come over here.
38:41Right.
38:42You've gone into the shop.
38:43Yes.
38:44My baby.
38:45My baby speaks.
38:46He's hungry, sir.
38:47See the double yellow lines?
38:48You're on a zigzag line.
38:49You can't park on zigzag lines.
38:50Oh, absolutely.
38:51The reason you can't park there is to avoid blocking the view of pedestrians using the crossing.
39:02And Michael leads by example.
39:04Do me a favour.
39:05I want you to drive off the zigzag lines.
39:07Yeah.
39:08Yeah.
39:09Yeah.
39:10I want you to drive off because I don't want to park on zigzag lines.
39:12So if you park down behind that voxel, I'll pull down behind you.
39:15No.
39:16Yes.
39:17All right.
39:18Do not drive off or else you'll be in my bad books.
39:20Michael's top policing peeve is this offence.
39:23So he's got some recommended reading material for the driver.
39:28Who turns out to be from Romania.
39:31Have you read the highway code?
39:34You have no idea what the highway code is, have you?
39:38Really, if you've come from a foreign country and you want to drive on our roads, you really
39:43need to be reading the highway code?
39:45And something else you need to drive here.
39:48Insurance.
39:49What insurance have you got on the vehicle?
39:52Do you have any insurance?
39:54Insurance, no insurance.
39:59The driver's knowledge of UK road laws.
40:03Is as good as his English.
40:07So he phones for some family assistance.
40:10Is that your partner?
40:12My sister, I see.
40:13Your sister?
40:14Yes.
40:15Does she speak English?
40:16Yeah, I speak English, yeah.
40:17Hello.
40:18Good afternoon.
40:19What's going on, please?
40:20Hello.
40:21Your brother?
40:22Yeah.
40:23Can you let him know that he's going to be reported for driving the vehicle with no insurance?
40:28And also, the vehicle's going to be seized?
40:30Please, sir.
40:31He's going to make the insurance.
40:32Don't do that, sir.
40:33No, no, no.
40:34We'll be taking the vehicle away.
40:37So, just let him know while I fill in the paperwork.
40:42Michael still needs to caution the driver, but the bloke's sister has had to go.
40:47Anybody else that speaks English that you know?
40:49No, I speak my friend.
40:50Okay.
40:51My other friend.
40:52Luckily, his mate is on hand.
40:54Hello, sir.
40:55Good afternoon.
40:56How are you?
40:57I'm trying to translate for him.
40:58Nice one.
40:59That's ideal.
41:00So, I'll do it in bits and pieces, all right?
41:02So, he's being reported for the consideration of the question.
41:05Do that bit first.
41:06Okay.
41:07So, he's being reported for the consideration of the question.
41:10Do that bit first.
41:12Okay.
41:13So, he's being reported for the consideration of the question.
41:17What does it mean, Dad?
41:18Do you want me to find it so you can read it to him?
41:21Yes.
41:22And if you've ever wanted to know what zigzag is in Romanian, pay attention.
41:26Your fences are, number one, parking on zigzag lines, and no insurance.
41:37Okay.
41:38I'll make sure.
41:39I'll make sure.
41:40All right.
41:41Yeah.
41:42Did you want to make any reply?
41:43No.
41:44Well, ask him.
41:45Yes.
41:46If you see, I'll comment.
41:48I don't want.
41:49Okay.
41:50Don't say no for him.
41:51We're not going to ask him.
41:52It's him, not you, I'm reporting.
41:53There's one more bit of bad news for Michael to deliver.
41:56Sir.
41:57This is for the property that you've taken from the vehicle.
42:00You take the car?
42:02I'm taking the car, yeah.
42:03Sir, no, please.
42:04Yeah.
42:05The car has to come with me.
42:06Sir, I need to make the insurance for him.
42:07No, but there's no insurance on the car.
42:09Yes, I make now, sir.
42:10You can't.
42:11I'm fucking bad, and I make the insurance now.
42:13No.
42:14The car comes with me.
42:15That's it.
42:16The car's off to the pound.
42:17Stay there, I'll give you a bit of paper.
42:20And Michael's off to see another dodgy parker.
42:24Driver, pull in behind my police car for me.
42:29It seems this place is a bit of a zig-zag offence hotspot.
42:34Just got some materials.
42:36Yeah, but you parked on zig-zag lines.
42:38I can't park anywhere.
42:39Well, I'd rather you park on double yellers than the zig-zag lines for crossing.
42:43So, stay away.
42:44You are joking me.
42:45Well, yeah.
42:46You're a man of an age that you know what zig-zag lines mean.
42:50You cannot know when parking on zig-zag lines, do they?
42:52Well, however heavy they may be, you don't park on zig-zag lines.
42:56Right, so I've reported this chap for parking on them.
42:58So, unfortunately, you're going to get one too.
43:00So, stay put until I finish with him.
43:02Michael zig-zags from one job.
43:06Okay, I'll leave you with it.
43:08Thanks a lot.
43:09To another.
43:11So, when you pulled in to park, did you not see the lovely blue lights of my police car?
43:18Well, I did.
43:19That's why I didn't want to park in the bus or not.
43:21So, I pulled up there just to drop some lead, which is heavy.
43:24I couldn't pull down the other street because they were all parked up.
43:27Yeah, well, a few seconds is too much on zig-zag lines.
43:33But there's no need for a translator this time.
43:36So, you're going to be reporting for the consideration of the question.
43:39We can see the prosecutor for the one offence that's parking on the zig-zag lines of a crossing.
43:44You don't have to say anything, but it may harm your defence.
43:46I didn't mention now since later on in court.
43:47Anything you do say may be a bit of evidence.
43:49Do you want to make any comments?
43:51No.
43:52Well, you can say what you like, really.
43:55It's your choice if you want to say something, but don't worry about it.
43:59And the moral of the story?
44:01You've only got to look at the highway code.
44:02It says you can't do it.
44:05The man with the van was reported for parking on a Pelican crossing and attended a What's Driving Us course.
44:11The Romanian driver went to court and was convicted of parking on a zig-zag and driving without insurance.
44:17He was fined a total of £1,322 and received six points on his licence.
44:24There's no excuse to park on zig-zag lines.
44:28Why would you need to park directly outside a shop and run into the shop and then run back to your car when you could park 10 metres, 15 metres down the road?
44:36You're fine.
44:37What if you're on the staff.
44:38What if you want to do?
44:39You're all right.
44:40You know, my great friends are on the floor.
44:41That's the same way.
44:42I can't do that.
44:43You're right.
44:44When you're out.
44:45What are the questions?
44:46What are the things that you want to do with?
44:47Can you do that?
44:48What are the things that you want to do?
44:49And what are the things that I really want to do is get the answers to solve?
44:55Is it OK?
44:57Oh, yeah.
