00:00Please welcome your host, Fleur East.
00:20Hello and welcome to It Takes Two, live on BBC Two and iPlayer!
00:30What a weekend, and although our couples weren't surfing in the USA,
00:35they certainly made a splash in Blackpool.
00:38And I, for one, am still riding the wave of a swell Saturday.
00:42We were all swept away by the announcement of no elimination.
00:45George turned the tide with the first tens for a Blackpool salsa,
00:48and Amber went to great depths with her quick step.
00:51Literally, it was under the sea.
00:54OK, I think you get the drift.
00:55Here's what else you can look forward to tonight.
00:59Sadly, due to an injury, La Voix had to withdraw from the competition,
01:03so Chris and Aliash join us to look back on their fabulous Strictly journey.
01:07They've been a pure joy to watch,
01:08and La Voix will always have a special place in our heart.
01:12She's been a professional dancer since the age of 17,
01:15our Strictly head judge since 2017, and an icon forever.
01:19Shirley Ballas will be here tonight,
01:21revealing her thoughts on all six of our remaining celebs.
01:25And don't forget, you can send in any question, big or small,
01:28such as, does our head judge have any other hobbies?
01:31Shirley, she does.
01:32WhatsApp them on our number 0800 022 3801,
01:36or just scan the QR code.
01:38And we've got an exclusive for you tonight,
01:42because there is no time like the present to gift you
01:45with the reveal of our third Christmas celeb.
01:48Here's a little It Takes clue for you.
01:50She's going to be a strong contender.
01:54But that's the only clue you're getting for now,
01:56so stay tuned to find out who it is later in the show.
02:01But first, let's look back at the weekend,
02:03and it's time to find out what I can tick off from my Blackpool bucket list.
02:07Thanks.
02:07A fabulous 40, tick.
02:11Craig comparing a celeb to a seagull, tick.
02:14And a promise from Tess and Claude of Blackpool tattoos, tick.
02:18But here's a reminder of what else made Blackpool so brilliant.
02:22Hello, Blackpools.
02:24Wow!
02:25Lavoie, very sadly, had to withdraw from the competition.
02:29But first, we can reveal,
02:31no-one will be leaving Strictly this weekend.
02:34You gave it to Stelza face.
02:39You went, mm-hmm.
02:40I did, I did, I did, I did, I did.
02:41That's your best dance so far.
02:43You flew around that floor faster than a seagull
02:49swooping in for a chip, darling.
02:52Moody, atmospheric.
02:54You keep fighting, girl.
02:57This is so stylish and sophisticated,
02:59and I love this number.
03:01That's how you score a goal, that's for sure.
03:05You are incredible.
03:10It was extraordinary.
03:18This is how you set down Blackpool!
03:20I don't know if I've experienced a better Blackpool than this.
03:28Sadly, among the highs of Blackpool came the lows of saying goodbye
03:31to Lavoie and Aliash, but they're here tonight.
03:33It's Chris and Aliash.
03:35It's lovely to have you.
03:37Now, it wasn't the ending that Lavoie imagined,
03:39but it was still a full-circle moment,
03:41because Lavoie said her goodbyes where it all began for her,
03:45in Blackpool.
03:46Yes.
03:46Here you are.
03:46Oh, look at that.
03:47That is, like, ten years apart.
03:50Look at that.
03:50And how does she look younger now?
03:52That's the question.
03:54That is the question.
03:55Oh, you know, it really was a full-circle moment.
03:58As I said, the North Pier Theatre in Blackpool
03:59was where I started touring all the theatres,
04:01and to see that creation of Lavoie ten years apart,
04:04for me, being on that Strictly Tower board,
04:06but Strictly, is amazing.
04:08I was in Blackpool only yesterday,
04:10and the North Pier Theatre was there, the Tower was there,
04:12and I was like, if only I'd known, that would be where to go.
04:14It's amazing.
04:15It was wonderful.
04:16Yeah.
04:16And on her socials, Aliash Lavoie spoke about letting you down.
04:21How do you respond to that?
04:23No.
04:24She did.
04:24Goodness me.
04:25No, no, she did not.
04:27I think it's the opposite.
04:29It's been a pleasure, bitch.
04:33Wow, that's the case.
04:34Wow.
04:36That's a good one.
04:37It's, I would say, on the contrary, really, of letting me down.
04:43I feel like every single week, I was amazed how far you can push
04:48the storytelling, you know, being whatever story is, you know.
04:53There's only this many steps in Borom and Latin,
04:56but when you can add a boxing glove to a New Yorker,
04:59or when you can add a pigeon to a natural turn in the walls,
05:03you know what I mean?
05:04Like, it's fascinating, really.
05:06You're basically saying she needed gimmicks at all time
05:08to cover up the dancing.
05:10That's what you're...
05:11No, boxing gloves are not a gimmick.
05:13It's just a part of a costume, right?
05:15Stop bringing up the boxing glove week.
05:16But there's been a lot of love online, on socials,
05:19a lot of comments of people saying how proud Lavoie
05:22should be of her time, including one from this loyal fan
05:26and Strictly alumni and drag race icon...
05:29Oh, look.
05:30Michelle Visage.
05:31Listen, my darling, everything happens for a reason,
05:33and you did what you came to do.
05:34You made a difference.
05:35Yes, I love you.
05:36We love you.
05:37Now heal.
05:38Oh, that's lovely.
05:40Michelle is...
05:41Michelle is everything.
05:42She's been such an amazing sort of friend and ally of mine.
05:44She really has.
05:45And, you know, I didn't come on this show with any ulterior motive
05:48other than to learn to dance and to have the most amazing time,
05:51and my main aim was to entertain.
05:54And I think...
05:54I'd like to think that I achieved a bit of that during the show
05:56and with Lavoie on a Saturday night at the same time.
05:59And if I've had any impact on anything else on top of that,
06:02it's a bonus for me,
06:03because it's just about being yourself and having fun.
06:05And if I can do it, anyone can do it.
06:07Yes!
06:09Beautiful.
06:10I love that.
06:11Aliash, what would you say is the difference
06:13that Lavoie has made on your outlook on life?
06:16I mean...
06:17We're getting deep.
06:19We're getting deep.
06:19Where do I begin, Flare?
06:20Outlook on life.
06:21Where do I begin?
06:25Do you know what?
06:26I mean, just basically...
06:28I think I've said it on the show pretty well, actually.
06:32To see sort of creating a character over 23 years ago,
06:38I think it is.
06:40And the amount of attention to detail,
06:43the amount of work, the amount of rehearsals,
06:46the amount of turning every single stone
06:48to then, you know, deliver that on stage
06:51or in the moment when it matters.
06:53One thing is to practice,
06:55but the other thing is to execute it right.
06:57And it's fascinating to see how much...
07:01how long that process is.
07:03And I feel like all those years of Lavoie, you know,
07:05going from North Pier Theatre in Blackpool
07:09all around the UK through the theatres
07:12and then to have this, you know,
07:15entertainment masterclass delivered on Strictly Come Dancing.
07:18Because it is.
07:19Listen, we all, all of us dancers are creative.
07:22We love to entertain.
07:24And, but how Lavoie does it,
07:27it was just incredible to witness
07:30and to have the front row seat for it too.
07:32I think I've learned.
07:33You know what was the first thing I said on Strictly?
07:35I said, I think I'm going to learn more than you will learn.
07:38And I think we're both learning a lot,
07:41but I feel like I've learned just as much as you have with dancing.
07:44Honestly, it's been magical to watch it.
07:45You've given us countless highlights.
07:48Let's look back at your best bits.
07:51Strictly is showbiz in Kana,
07:53and I'm so proud to be part of it.
07:56Yes!
07:58There's doing Strictly,
08:00and there's doing Strictly with Aliash.
08:01When I finally am,
08:04oh, the hell are you?
08:06This is exactly the sort of number I would put together for you.
08:09I mean, it's just genius.
08:11I love this.
08:12I've got a bath mat that matches.
08:13We should speak.
08:17In my head, it's this.
08:19The hand giant.
08:19That's all I know.
08:20Yes!
08:23Your personality and comic timing is exquisite.
08:27I think you are so real and authentic.
08:30I think you're beautiful.
08:32I want to show a sort of sassy, feisty side of Lavoie.
08:37Just a bit fierce.
08:38This is so satisfying.
08:40You never got off to a good start from the beginning.
08:43You just had one of those days.
08:46Two!
08:47We love you.
08:51You can come back strong from this.
08:53The biggest thing we need to work on this week is confidence.
08:56Because he can do this.
08:58Your timing was immaculate.
09:00I could watch you every night doing that.
09:02Do you know the address where you send your CV?
09:03Just in case there's any new jobs coming up.
09:06This is me after week 97 on Strictly.
09:10I've never played a baddie.
09:11I've always wanted to.
09:12And this is my chance.
09:13This is everything to me this week.
09:15You had power, you had passion, you had authority, darling.
09:21You owned it.
09:23I think that is your personal best.
09:25Nice!
09:26For the first time ever, it means more to me than I think I realised it would.
09:31Because it's really healing.
09:32I'm going to get emotional.
09:34This needs to be mistake-proof.
09:38I felt like you were dancing different dancers.
09:41Overall, it lacked a togetherness.
09:44So my mum was a complete amazing supporter.
09:49From an early age.
09:51I lost her in April this year.
09:53Just your worst tops.
09:55I am immensely proud of what he's achieved.
09:58And his mother would be looking down at him.
10:00It would be...
10:01I get emotional about numbers like that because they're special.
10:04From the fabulous confidence Ali Ash has given me, I feel like I'm going to walk away going,
10:09Do you know what?
10:10I think I can dance.
10:11I hope I'm opening doors for other people to step in my shoes.
10:14It's a gift that I was the one pro that got to dance with her.
10:23How lucky am I?
10:24This has been everything I've wanted to be and not.
10:28Strictly might have ended for me, but that memory of doing Strictly, that will never end.
10:32Oh, my gosh.
10:38It's lovely to watch that.
10:40Now, most celebs' best bits are focused mainly on their dancing, but LaVoie made such an impact with her quick wit.
10:46What did LaVoie enjoy the most?
10:48Oh, my gosh.
10:49I think the whole process was just so much fun.
10:52Everything about it.
10:53I didn't like the dancing on the dance floor bit.
10:56But that bit, if they could cut that bit out of Strictly, it would be such a great show.
11:02But, no, I think for me, channeling LaVoie and doing the comedy of chatting to the judges, to Tess and Claudia, to you in the rehearsal room,
11:10I mean, I've just never laughed so much.
11:11I felt like I found a comedy partner.
11:13I just found someone who has my similar energy.
11:15I've never belly laughed as much in my life.
11:17And I think what Aliash did is he gave me the joy in learning, not just about being perfect on stage.
11:23It's about the joy in the process.
11:25And I've always been so hard on myself with that.
11:28And the best bit for me has just been having this guy who's just picked me up when I've been bawling his eyes out in tears.
11:37I stamped on his foot so hard one day, he said, I'm seeing stars.
11:40And, you know, he still was willing to, you know, step on that dance floor.
11:44And I just felt like I've danced on Strictly as someone who never had confidence in dancing.
11:48And I just think that's been amazing.
11:51But I've missed, you know, talking to Tess about her outfits.
11:55I know.
11:56We're going to miss all of your one-liners.
11:58You've been such a joy and so entertaining to watch for the last time.
12:02It's Chris and Aliash, everyone.
12:06Keep dancing.
12:08Keep dancing.
12:09OK, the bright lights of Blackpool are now behind us.
12:12And the quarterfinal is suddenly within reach.
12:14So all six of our celebs are hoping to stay in the competition as long as possible.
12:19Here's what the Strictly experience has meant to them so far.
12:21And warning, the J word will appear.
12:23My Strictly journey so far has been lots of amazing highs, lots of tears and frustration
12:40and doubt.
12:42But that is Strictly.
12:46It's like a dream come true every single day.
12:48I can't really believe that I've made it this far.
12:57It feels like I've only just put my dancing shoes on.
13:00Each week it becomes more of a big sigh of relief.
13:03George and Alexis.
13:05Slash.
13:06Big beam of joy when you make it through.
13:11This journey is something that I never really fully imagined or anticipated.
13:16It's been incredibly rewarding.
13:21I'm grateful to make it through to another week.
13:24It's been a beautiful challenge.
13:27And I've enjoyed every single second of it.
13:30I want to bring some more joy and just have the best time that I possibly can on that dance floor.
13:35I think I've started to grow in confidence and also hopefully show a different side to people at home away from football.
13:49Honestly, every week I learn more about myself.
13:51I've been taken Strictly one day at a time.
14:01It's gone so fast.
14:02It's so fun.
14:04You're learning so much.
14:07It feels like a bit of a gift.
14:09It truly is a gift to compete in Strictly.
14:22And speaking of gifts, I hope you haven't been sleeping on that clue from earlier.
14:27But before I reveal tonight's Christmas celebrity, which crackers have we already given away?
14:32On Friday, Scarlett Moffat revealed herself and she's dancing with Vito.
14:38They'll make a great Coppola.
14:40And earlier today on the Radio 2 Breakfast Show, Scott Mills revealed that singer Melanie Blatt will be dancing with Kai.
14:48Kai Rissmus came early for her.
14:50And now it's time to reveal our third celebrity.
14:53Drum roll, please.
14:58It's Jodie Ounsley, a.k.a. Fury from Gladiators.
15:02This is so cool.
15:14Yeah, tell me about it.
15:16Well, you're not only a gladiator, you're also a rugby player.
15:20But what made you want to give Strictly a try?
15:22Do you know what?
15:23I think I just want it a bit of a challenge.
15:25You know, I've seen Montel, I've seen Harriet, and I think if they can do it, I'm going to push myself to do it.
15:30And just have a bit of fun with it.
15:32Well, you've already made history twice by being the first deaf gladiator and the first deaf woman to play rugby for England.
15:39But what would make this Strictly Christmas historic for you?
15:41I think for me, if you've seen me as a gladiator or as a rugby player, I'm serious, I'm powerful, I don't mess around.
15:49But with this, I really just want to be able to let go and, you know, just to dance and just have fun with it.
15:54So just going with the flow and letting go.
15:56OK, well, I'm excited to share with everyone the Strictly Pro you're dancing with is...
16:01It's Neil!
16:04Yes!
16:05How happy are you to be paired with him?
16:09I'm chuffed because, obviously, he's a amazing dancer, but, you know, he just gets into character.
16:15And I think that's exactly what I need, just us together.
16:18Hopefully, I'll be flying.
16:19Well, we won't reveal the dance style or the song for the moment, but how's training going?
16:25It's been all right.
16:26It's been better than I thought.
16:27And, yeah, I'm loving it and I'm just, I'm actually generally really excited.
16:32So, yeah, just see what the next few weeks bring.
16:35Well, final question.
16:36On Friday, Scarlett Moffat said she's made space on her mantelpiece for the Glitterball Trophy.
16:41So please look down the camera and in true Fury style, give us your best fighting line.
16:47Watch out, Scarlett, because I'm coming after you, love.
16:49Oh, it's getting tense.
16:53Thank you so much for popping in.
16:54We can't wait for Christmas Day.
16:56Give it up for Jodie!
17:01And join me tomorrow when I'll be announcing two more celebs.
17:05OK, it's now time for our final chat of the night.
17:08This weekend, Blackpool finals aside, we witnessed the highest scoring Blackpool week in Strictly history with an average of 37 points.
17:16Not that I'm keeping score, but our next guest certainly is, it's head judge, Shirley Ballas.
17:21Shirley Ballas!
17:23Your cartwheels were synchronised to perfection.
17:31Shirley, you're wrong.
17:33I'm not.
17:33I, E, F, E, C, T.
17:36We're not what it means to me.
17:37I, E, F, E, C, T.
17:40We, E, F, E, C, T.
17:42Shirley is on her seat.
17:47Doing you now, sir.
17:48Whoa, I've caught him!
17:52She's the Queen of Latin, the Sovereign of Strictly, the Boss of Boreham Wood.
17:56It's Shirley Ballas!
17:58Shirley Ballas!
18:00Wow, it's such a pleasure to have you on here.
18:10Thank you so much for stopping by.
18:12We've got so much to talk about, Shirley.
18:14But first, Blackpool, what was it like being in the Las Vegas of the North?
18:18Well, I first went there when I was seven and it's the most fantastic ballroom.
18:22When I say in the world, every competitor around the world wants to dance at the Tower Ballroom because of the sprung floor.
18:29The ambience is just absolutely sensational.
18:32And this weekend, the whole show was off the chart.
18:36And we need to check in with you.
18:37Tell us about the fishbone.
18:38Well, I was having my Harry Ramsden's fish.
18:42I didn't have any chips, just the fish.
18:44And the bone of the fish got logged in my throat and it all closed up.
18:49Oh, gosh.
18:49And I couldn't breathe at all.
18:51And we were trying to breathe and this and that.
18:54And then Jane, who does my hair, she literally just picked me up.
18:56My feet were waggling.
18:57I had just my underwear on as she was giving me this Heimlich manoeuvre.
19:01And it was just unbelievably scary.
19:05So it took me a minute to sort of calm down.
19:07And then 20 minutes later, we were live.
19:09I couldn't really project very far with my voice.
19:11Even now, it's scratched all the inside here because we think the bone went down.
19:16Goodness.
19:16And, yeah, it's been the last two days a little bit sore and scary.
19:21But today, tonight, I'm feeling a little bit better.
19:23Well, we're glad you're better and that you're here with us.
19:25My goodness, how scary is that?
19:27It is.
19:27So before you took part in Strictly, I want to know, what were your favourite moments and memories from the Tower Ballroom?
19:33Well, the best results I ever got at the Tower Ballroom, I was fourth in the North of England Ballroom Championships with a chap called David Fleet.
19:39And, you know, it was just the most, he was the most fantastic partner.
19:43He was my first boy partner.
19:45And beautiful dress there and just in the tower.
19:48And semi-final in the Latin.
19:50So that was my best result as an under-16 dancer.
19:54That's so cool to see that photo as well.
19:55It is, isn't it?
19:56OK, let's talk about our couples.
19:57Let's start with Alex and Johannes.
19:59Now, the couple's choice was a celebration of life.
20:02How defiantly does she embody this message?
20:05Well, first of all, she not only embodies the message,
20:07but from the very, very start of the show, I've been impressed with her.
20:10I can tell and I've heard also in the studio that her work ethic is second to none.
20:15She never complains.
20:16She just comes on.
20:17She gets on with it.
20:18And I think she's the epitome of femininity.
20:21And I think the routine that Johannes did for her was just absolutely fully her.
20:26And she embodied the whole spirit of the evening.
20:29Just thought she was great.
20:30And in week four, you awarded Alex the earliest ever ten for a rumba.
20:34But she hasn't seen a ten since then.
20:35So what can she do to impress you this weekend with her cha-cha-cha?
20:38I don't think it's so much about impressing.
20:40First of all, I've never seen a rumba like that on any show around the world in all 66 countries.
20:45I thought her, her leg action and her fluidity and her flow, that dance suited her body,
20:52suited her as a dancer.
20:53If she can go into the cha-cha-cha and she gives us plenty of rhythm,
20:56don't forget it's a much faster dance.
20:58She's still got to have those straight legs.
20:59They've got to be moving and snapping and going.
21:01If she embodies it and if she actually gets a little bit of the technique down,
21:05I think she's going to do very well in the cha-cha-cha too.
21:08Oh, exciting.
21:09OK, on to Karen and Carlos and that Paso.
21:12I mean, you said this will go down in Strictly history.
21:15What made it so special?
21:16Well, first of all, Carlos was a top competitor in my industry.
21:20And one of his best dancers was Paso Doble.
21:22And I never thought he would have a partner that would be able to do a competitive routine,
21:26like our professionals in our industry.
21:29And he was able to go all out.
21:31She went all out.
21:32I've never seen somebody so balanced.
21:35Her work was so fast.
21:37As Anton would say, she whipped over here and whipped over there
21:39and up, down, round there.
21:40And then she went and landed and never even so much as moved her feet.
21:44It was the most impressive Paso Doble I'd ever seen.
21:47Like I say, at Blackpool this year, all the performances were absolutely outstanding.
21:52She's amazing and definitely one to watch for sure.
21:55Yes, and next up, a couple's choice off of the back of that Paso.
21:58Well, couple's choice.
21:59We saw the jive when she first did that at the beginning.
22:02We've seen this Paso Doble.
22:03I'm sure she's going to be, you know, as a footballer, she's graceful.
22:07I've watched her do her football.
22:08She has to have this most magnificent balance when she's doing her football
22:11and kicking her leg and going and catching.
22:15I think she's going to be sensational.
22:17And now he knows what she can do.
22:19So he's going to be really pushing it.
22:21I think they both really want to make the final.
22:23I think every week for them, they'll be giving it their all.
22:26On to Lewis and Katya.
22:27I know you said that Charleston was a Blackpool extravaganza
22:29and noted that Lewis must have been training hard at home to get that synchronicity.
22:35How could you tell that?
22:36Because the feet, when they were swiveling their feet and their arms were absolutely spot on together.
22:41So you could tell that they'd done some mirror work where they were really making sure
22:45that they were in tune with each other.
22:46Again, he came out.
22:48He opened our show.
22:48So he's excelling.
22:50He's found the balance between doing tricks and highlights and actually doing great dancing.
22:55I just think he's absolutely spectacular.
22:58And I think Katya is also doing a fantastic job with him.
23:00He's the highest scoring celeb in the competition,
23:03but he's yet to receive a 10 from you for a Latin number.
23:07So how can he change the narrative?
23:09He's got a rumba coming up.
23:10Oh, a rumba.
23:12Oh.
23:15A rumba where we will be hoping to see what we saw, you know, with Alex,
23:19the beautiful leg actions, straight leg, bent leg, some flexibility, some fluidity,
23:23and I hope she keeps him moving and he doesn't just stand there.
23:26I will be expecting quite a lot from him in the rumba.
23:29This is going to be a challenging dance for him,
23:31but I know when he really puts his mind to it,
23:34and Katya was the queen of rumba in her day when she danced with Neil.
23:38She was absolutely fantastic.
23:40So I think she will also be pushing the envelope.
23:42She knows he can't just stand there and rot from side to side, that's for sure.
23:45Well, I hope he doesn't stand there and rot from side to side.
23:49OK, on to Balvinda and Julian.
23:51Now, Balvinda, I mean, she's been in four dance-offs,
23:54and you used the word gold to describe her comeback spirit with her Argentine tango.
23:58Why?
23:58Well, you know, in our industry, there's always somebody who has to lose
24:01and somebody who has to win, and I admire this lady so much.
24:05There she was in these dance-offs.
24:07She's a veteran.
24:07She never flinches when she's under pressure.
24:10She went out there at the weekend.
24:12She gives it her all.
24:13Even when she is in the bottom, she comes back fighting.
24:16You never underestimate a person like that.
24:18They're truly competitive, and their mind is as strong as their talent,
24:22and that's what it takes.
24:23And every week I look at her and I think, you go, girl.
24:26Yes.
24:26She's doing great.
24:27Now, she's the only celeb who still hasn't received a 10.
24:30So what can she do with her jive coming up to get a 10?
24:34Oh, jive.
24:35Yes.
24:35That's going to be fast.
24:37Yes.
24:38Well, I hope for Balvinda that he mixes the jive with some swing, you know,
24:44because jive is a very, very fast dance.
24:46If you make a mistake, as we saw with Vicky, if you start making mistakes,
24:50it's really hard to pick up.
24:51It's not like a rumba.
24:52It's easy to pick up a mistake.
24:53Yeah, mix the swing with the jive, that's more flat,
24:57and then some kicks and flicks, maybe some turns.
25:00She's going to have good stamina, and she's got to be as good at the beginning
25:03as she is at the end.
25:04So, you know, it's quite tough.
25:06It's not easy to do.
25:07On to George and Alexis.
25:08Now, George received his first 10s for his salsa.
25:10You admitted that you weren't expecting that.
25:13Why?
25:13Well, when George started, I thought, oh, he's a really quiet soul.
25:16If you meet him backstage, he's exactly the same backstage as he is
25:19when he's in front of the cameras.
25:21But this week, I felt he really took a step up.
25:24And, of course, when he did his little hip bump and his arm,
25:27that's kind of his speciality figure,
25:29I just thought they are gelling really well together.
25:33Of course, Alexis, our new professional,
25:35has done a wonderful job with him.
25:36But his personality, I think he realises now, OK, it's coming,
25:40we're getting forward towards that quarterfinal,
25:42and I can see also, actually, in all of them,
25:45none of them want to go home.
25:47So coming down after Blackpool, we go in the studio on Saturday,
25:50they're going to have to really pull that energy up,
25:52because Blackpool, and then there'll be a little bit of drop in energy,
25:54then you've got to pick it back up again.
25:56It'll be interesting to see who does what this week.
25:58On to Amber and Nikita.
26:00Now, you've never awarded her a 10.
26:03Why did that quick step not make you want to reach
26:05for the perfect paddle, Shirley?
26:07Well, if you have a little look there.
26:09Oh, wow.
26:10As you see here, there's some gapping.
26:12You see this big gapping?
26:13There should be no gapping.
26:15You see, this should be the same.
26:17And she should be far off to the right side
26:18with his right arm up, elbow to elbow.
26:21So I'm not looking immensely for, like, over-technical details,
26:25but arms stay up, arms stay up, connection in the body.
26:28It was Blackpool.
26:29We've been on the show now for a while.
26:31So not quite perfect for me,
26:33but let me tell you what I do love about her.
26:34Her personality is outstanding.
26:36She's willing to give anything a go.
26:38He's bringing some of his best work ever.
26:40So she's also really rocking it.
26:43And a 9 or a 10, you know, at the end of the day,
26:45the public, the public will be voting.
26:48So they have the ability to keep the couples in.
26:51So, you know, don't be giving me any stress now.
26:54If you love it, if you love it,
26:56and you think it's deserving of 10s and points and calling
27:00or what is that new thing we do now with the code?
27:02QR code, yeah.
27:02That's it, that's it.
27:03My poor mother can't do it, but never mind.
27:06Yes, she's definitely one to watch as well.
27:08Well, for the first time in Strictly,
27:09we need to talk about the Instant Dance Challenge.
27:11What are you most looking forward to with that?
27:13The chaos.
27:15So, first of all, sitting next to Anton de Bec,
27:17it's chaos every week because when he starts going,
27:19he's like Bruno, a member of the arms and things.
27:22And we're all excited about it.
27:24You know, they've got to pick that instant dance.
27:26They've got to go down to the wardrobe,
27:28collect their clothes,
27:28and within, like, an instant and second,
27:31they've got to remember whatever the dance is.
27:32Now, they can't practice all the dances
27:34that they've done throughout the series.
27:36So, will they remember the choreography?
27:38Will they stay in time to the music?
27:40Will they improvise opposite one another?
27:42Will they be giving it large?
27:44You know, will it be great?
27:45So, I think it's going to be absolutely chaotic.
27:47We've had a lot of questions in, Shirley.
27:49Very quickly, Oliver wants to know,
27:51what's your favourite thing about being a judge?
27:53I just... I know it's sort of like...
27:55I just love the journey.
27:56I love to see all the new people that come on every year.
27:59Sometimes some of them I don't know
28:01because they're famous in their own area.
28:03And then you get to love each and every one of them.
28:05I mean, I just saw Lavoie.
28:07I have a tear every time for her, you know.
28:09She's fantastic.
28:10Each one of them has their own journey and their own story,
28:13and I like to just be that person
28:14that can guide them a little bit with some technique.
28:17Well, we're so happy that you could pop by and talk to us.
28:19It's all great to see you.
28:20Make some noise.
28:21It's Shirley Ballas, everyone!
28:26Well, that's it for tonight.
28:27Thanks to all my guests.
28:28Tomorrow, I'll be joined by the fabulous Joanne Clifton
28:30for Choreography Corner.
28:32I'll be revealing all the details about this year's Pro Challenge.
28:35Plus, I'll be chatting to Karen and Carlos
28:36and Amber and Nikita about the buzz of Blackpool.
28:39That's from 6.30.
28:41Have a lovely evening.
28:46Christmas?
28:58Christmas?
28:59Christmas.
28:59Well, we're certainly not.
