00:27to the headquarters here at WWE.
00:38Paul, thank you so much
00:39for inviting us here.
00:40My first thought is that
00:42the 2006 old office
00:44that DX spray-painted,
00:46the DX,
00:46I don't think any of that
00:47would fly at this new headquarters.
00:50You don't need to spray-paint this one.
00:52You don't need DX to do any of that.
00:53This one has its own special flair
00:56and, you know,
00:57what I love about this place
00:58is it speaks to WWE,
01:00whereas our old offices
01:01were just that, offices.
01:03But this speaks to WWE
01:05when you walk in here,
01:06whether you're walking
01:06through the front lobby
01:07and being greeted by a 30-foot
01:09Andre the Giant,
01:10video walls everywhere
01:12that are very reminiscent
01:14of being at our productions
01:15or being up here
01:17and, you know,
01:18seeing all these video boards
01:20where champions can be displayed
01:22or these can all change
01:23to other things
01:24for production, promotion,
01:26and functioning ring.
01:27So this is a functioning ring?
01:29Yeah, this is a legitimate ring,
01:31fully functioning,
01:32just like we would have
01:33that television.
01:34Maybe a few light modifications
01:36would need to be made
01:37to be able to use it.
01:38We wouldn't have the exposed,
01:39you know,
01:40steel on the corners
01:41or things like that.
01:41But the beauty of this is,
01:43as you see this space,
01:44you can come in here.
01:46Honestly, we could run
01:47an event from here.
01:47But we do a lot of
01:49different activations
01:50for partners and clients.
01:52We do Boys and Girls Club,
01:54this place packed with kids,
01:55deafeningly packed with kids
01:57for the holidays.
01:58And Santa Claus came out
01:59and people were going crazy.
02:01Amazing.
02:01He did not get a stunner.
02:02Okay.
02:04Contrary to what
02:05we would normally do.
02:06But, you know,
02:07this place speaks to WWE
02:09and everywhere
02:09that you go through it,
02:11whether it's coffee areas
02:13or cafeterias
02:14or meeting rooms,
02:16it all speaks to WWE
02:17and has a flair.
02:19Did you build around this ring
02:20or this came later?
02:21No, I think if I remember correctly,
02:23just open spaces.
02:24Okay.
02:25Like, hey,
02:25what can we do here
02:26in this open space?
02:27What if we put a ring in there?
02:28Okay.
02:29So architects come in
02:30and make suggestions,
02:31but then it helped
02:32that they were also fans.
02:34Okay.
02:34But it also helps us.
02:36Like, we have a massive warehouse
02:37full of memorabilia
02:39and collectible items
02:41that a lot of people
02:42would be fascinated with.
02:44So to be able to put that
02:45on display,
02:46you know,
02:46just sitting in a dusty warehouse
02:48doesn't do a lot.
02:50with it,
02:51you know,
02:51people always ask us
02:52all the time
02:52about a brick-and-mortar
02:54hall of fame.
02:55And that might still be
02:56something in the future,
02:57but for us,
02:58we would rather have
02:58open, workable spaces
03:00that people can come to
03:02and see,
03:03but for the people
03:04that work here
03:04to be able to have them
03:06live in WWE every day
03:09instead of just going
03:10to work in a cubicle
03:11like they worked at a bank
03:12or some other boring job,
03:14no offense to bankers.
03:15Yes, I hear you.
03:15Yeah.
03:20The collecting of things,
03:22especially in our business,
03:24when it comes
03:25to wrestling collectibles,
03:27it's more about making sure
03:29that that history
03:30is protected
03:30and that lasts
03:32for generations
03:33and that people
03:34can see it
03:34for far too long.
03:36I think we had
03:37this giant warehouse
03:39of all these things
03:40that we'd accumulated
03:41over the year,
03:42but it was just sitting
03:43in there,
03:44falling apart,
03:45collecting dust,
03:45and to have that
03:47be cleaned up,
03:49documented,
03:49immortalized,
03:50I think is the coolest
03:52thing in the world.
03:55We have an assortment
03:56of amazing collectibles.
03:58I think maybe
03:59from the warehouse
04:00they brought these in,
04:01but let's start here,
04:021998,
04:03the DX invasion,
04:04this helmet.
04:05You guys invade WCW,
04:07but this is etched
04:08in people's brains
04:09for what you guys
04:10did that night.
04:11Yeah, it's hard
04:12for people today
04:14to understand it.
04:14like if you go back
04:15in time
04:16to that time period,
04:18us invading WCW
04:20was just like
04:21an unthinkable moment.
04:24Yeah.
04:24Like you didn't even
04:25talk about other things
04:27or people that left
04:28or that were other promotions
04:29or whatever,
04:30it wasn't even brought up.
04:31So for us to,
04:32you know,
04:33throw these helmets on
04:34and jump on a Jeep
04:35with a big cannon
04:37on the back
04:37and ride over
04:38to their show
04:39was unthinkable
04:40and sort of was
04:41a paradigm shift
04:42in the business
04:44of like,
04:44okay,
04:45clubs are off,
04:45we're going to do anything.
04:46Totally.
04:47It was like literally
04:48the definition
04:49of like keeping
04:49the same energy
04:50in real life.
04:51Yeah.
04:51Which you hear
04:52all the time.
04:52Yeah, 100%.
04:53And luckily for us,
04:55you know,
04:55it could have got hostile
04:56while we were there.
04:57So we had the helmets
04:57on just in case.
04:59And then here,
04:59I want to go.
05:00Yeah,
05:00that's one of my favorite
05:01things we have here.
05:02Crazy.
05:03Andre the Giant's
05:04Halliburton briefcase,
05:05like original one.
05:06It's very funny.
05:07He has like bumper stickers,
05:08kind of like that signified.
05:09I'm not deaf,
05:10I'm ignoring you.
05:11Exactly.
05:11He was sending a message
05:13with these stickers on it,
05:14but even in the briefcase.
05:15Yeah,
05:15if I wanted to hear
05:16from an asshole,
05:16I would have farted.
05:17It's kind of like
05:18Andre the Giant.
05:19Exactly.
05:19Yeah,
05:20if he would have farted,
05:20everyone would have.
05:21Yeah.
05:23Andre's press kid in there
05:24from Princess Bride.
05:26I don't know,
05:26I feel like he's bad juju
05:27if you were to remove
05:29anything from this case
05:30to display it differently.
05:31I feel like it should be
05:32left the way it was.
05:33But from what I understand,
05:34he was very proud
05:35of the movie
05:36and like this is what
05:37he would travel show to show
05:38or even on trips,
05:39this exact briefcase
05:40and then he kept
05:41this close to his heart.
05:42This was his travel briefcase
05:43and I think when he got
05:44towards the end
05:44he wasn't traveling so much,
05:45I think he kept the things
05:46that were closest to him
05:47in there.
05:48Princess Bride
05:49was one of his
05:49biggest achievements
05:51to him in his life
05:52and really meant
05:53a lot to him.
05:54So the fact that it is
05:55the way he left it
05:57and still with that
05:58in there,
05:58you know,
05:59to me is
05:59amazing.
06:00Just makes it
06:01that much more special.
06:03There's been different
06:04iterations,
06:05I think,
06:05of memorabilia
06:06but there's a lot
06:07of original stuff.
06:08This is the original
06:08Undertaker urn.
06:10Yeah.
06:10I feel like he's
06:11looking over us
06:11right over there
06:12but this is the original.
06:13If you touch it,
06:14the lights go off.
06:15Yeah.
06:16Yeah,
06:17that's the original
06:18Undertaker urn
06:19which is crazy
06:20to think about.
06:21You know,
06:21the thing with our business
06:22is once you see it
06:24and it's a part
06:24of our show,
06:25it sort of
06:26in many ways
06:27can become iconic
06:28to a particular moment
06:29then I often think
06:31our business
06:31is very much like music.
06:33Okay.
06:33in that
06:34it's constantly changing
06:36but when you hear
06:38certain things
06:39or you see
06:39certain moments
06:40in our programming
06:41it takes you back
06:42to that time
06:42in your life.
06:43Yes.
06:43If you were a kid
06:45and you saw
06:46Taker walk over
06:47the first time
06:47with that urn,
06:48it brings you back
06:49to that moment
06:50in your life
06:51of being a kid.
06:52Seeing things like this,
06:54you know,
06:54so that giant painting
06:55mural behind it
06:56is from the very first
06:58Netflix show
06:59and it was created
07:00for that show
07:01as part of the open
07:02and when it was being done
07:04we were like
07:05we have to display
07:06it's so cool
07:07that we have to display
07:08this somewhere
07:10and this was
07:11the perfect space
07:11there's still dents
07:13in this.
07:13Yeah,
07:14I'm sure from somebody's head
07:15I don't know who.
07:16And then Bray Wyatt
07:17of course,
07:18the light.
07:18Yeah,
07:19the original lantern
07:20which for me
07:22is really cool
07:23because Bray and I
07:24worked together
07:25on that very first
07:26moment of that entrance
07:27and there's a moment
07:28in time where
07:29they were looking
07:30for him to,
07:31you know,
07:31like,
07:32oh,
07:32we're going to have lasers
07:33and we're going to have
07:33all this stuff.
07:34He and I talked about it
07:35and I was like
07:35does this feel right to you?
07:36He's like,
07:36no,
07:36it doesn't.
07:37And I went back
07:37and talked to our guys
07:38and was like,
07:39look,
07:39this is the exact opposite.
07:40This guy's from,
07:41he's a cult leader
07:42from the swamps
07:43and like,
07:44he shouldn't have,
07:45like as a backwoods guy
07:47he should,
07:48like what would scare me
07:49is him coming through
07:50the woods at night
07:51carrying this lantern
07:53and I can barely see his face
07:54and make out who he is
07:55and that's how the concept
07:57came to be.
07:58Bray was like,
07:59I love that
07:59and then we started
08:00riffing on it
08:01and how we could do it
08:02and I can still picture him
08:03with Harper and Rowan
08:05behind him
08:06with us trying to move
08:07the lantern
08:07to where we could see
08:09his face
08:10and see them slightly
08:11enough to get them
08:13but not see too much
08:15and him being like,
08:17this thing's too fucking heavy,
08:18I can't hold my arm
08:19this long,
08:20you know what I mean?
08:20and just all the bits
08:22and pieces
08:23that go into
08:24the creation of these
08:25for me
08:26make them even more special
08:27but for fans
08:28they're iconic
08:28things that create moments
08:30in time
08:30that you'll never forget.
08:32Absolutely.
08:32We have one more stop,
08:33we have to go to your office,
08:34there's a bunch of gems in there,
08:36we'll end there.
08:36Alright.
08:41The most important things
08:42to me are family
08:43and I wouldn't have any of them
08:44without this business
08:46so I think the title belts
08:48to me represent
08:49the pinnacle of this business
08:51and for me
08:53it's honoring that history.
08:56I feel a strong sense
08:57of in some manner
08:59being the caretaker
09:01of that business.
09:02It's about so much more
09:04than finances
09:06and TV contracts
09:08and deals
09:08and all that stuff
09:09because at the end of the day
09:10none of that exists
09:11without the other.
09:12One item I want to talk about
09:17that was in this headquarters
09:18is the sledgehammer
09:19and I feel like
09:20the sledgehammer
09:20is kind of tied
09:21to the game era
09:22after DX
09:23but talk about that item
09:25and I think it was even hard
09:26to acquire it back, right?
09:28Yeah, you know
09:29we did it in one of the
09:30memorabilia shows
09:31and to be honest
09:32I just used whatever hammer
09:34was available.
09:35Okay.
09:36I used it one time
09:37because I needed
09:37like I ended up
09:38smashing a coffin
09:39with it that Rock was in
09:40and it just became
09:41synonymous with me
09:42after that sort of
09:43over the years
09:44used various ones
09:46I did not like using
09:47every now and then
09:48they'd have a prop one
09:49Okay.
09:50or something
09:51ironically the only time
09:52I ever injured anybody
09:55with a hammer
09:55was with Taker
09:57and they
09:58we were going to
09:59I believe it was
10:00Wrestlemania
10:01he was going to
10:02put me up for
10:03Last Ride
10:04and I was going to
10:05grab the hammer
10:05on the way up
10:06Oh, okay.
10:07but we were so afraid
10:08that could I get
10:09all the way up there
10:10and still use it
10:11so we used
10:12a gimmick
10:14sledgehammer
10:15that had like
10:15a foam head
10:16Okay.
10:17because it was
10:17much lighter
10:18and when I went
10:19up top
10:20and hit him
10:20in the head
10:21with it
10:21I held on
10:22to the foam part
10:23to protect him
10:24and the handle
10:25went all the way
10:26through the foam part
10:27and cut him
10:28Wow.
10:28from like here
10:29to here
10:29Okay.
10:30I hit him
10:30I had no idea
10:31He went down
10:32when I came up
10:33he was bleeding
10:33I was like
10:34holy shit
10:34what happened
10:35you know
10:35he was just covered
10:36is there one item
10:37that you have
10:39on your radar
10:39to like try
10:40to get back
10:40or you leave
10:41it to the archivist
10:42or is there one
10:43that sticks out
10:43that you would love
10:44to like see every day
10:45There are things
10:47that are out there
10:48I'm a huge history buff
10:50of the business
10:51and especially
10:52moments from
10:54the past
10:55that sort of
10:56get you to where
10:56they are
10:56so like even
10:57this wall collection
10:58when we were building
10:59this office space
11:00for me was
11:01if I can wave
11:02what would I want
11:03to have in here
11:04it's the representation
11:05of the lineage
11:06of this company
11:07and if you walk
11:09through this
11:10it starts
11:11over here
11:12in the very beginning
11:13and this is something
11:14we found
11:15this is the championship
11:17that Buddy Rogers
11:19came in with
11:20you know
11:21there's controversy
11:22at the time
11:23so he had this title
11:25that he used to bring
11:26from territory
11:26to territory
11:27and if you look at it
11:28it's just the shape
11:29of the United States
11:30right
11:30but he would come in here
11:32and he would drop
11:32that championship
11:33to Bruno San Martino
11:34okay
11:35this was lost
11:36for years
11:37wow
11:37and then
11:38was found
11:39yeah I believe
11:40in like an attic
11:41in somebody
11:42that had
11:43a relative
11:44of an associate
11:46of Buddy Rogers
11:47had the title
11:48in an attic
11:48found it
11:49didn't know
11:49what it was
11:50a collector
11:51bought it
11:51we caught wind
11:52of it
11:53and this was
11:54right about
11:54the time
11:55that we were
11:56inducting Bruno
11:57which I had
11:58spent a lot
11:59of time
11:59really becoming
12:00close to Bruno
12:01so there's
12:02one of my
12:03favorite moments
12:04is us getting
12:05this championship
12:06along the way
12:07to inducting Bruno
12:08in the Hall of Fame
12:09and the day
12:10of the Hall of Fame
12:11at Madison Square Garden
12:12where he sold out
12:14once again
12:14yes
12:15bringing him
12:16this title
12:16to show to him
12:18must have been like
12:18he got tears in his eyes
12:20wow
12:20yeah
12:20yeah and he hadn't
12:21seen it since then
12:22like when he looked
12:24at it
12:24he pointed out
12:25little things on it
12:26that he remembered
12:28that probably only
12:29he could like see
12:30that yeah
12:31I didn't even notice
12:32him pointing out
12:33like just little
12:34imperfections in it
12:35where he's like
12:36yeah this is
12:37the bend
12:37where this happened
12:38or whatever
12:39so just really
12:40cool moments
12:41but then this
12:42takes you down
12:43a lineage piece
12:44of what he won
12:45to the title
12:46that was created
12:47for him
12:47to sort of
12:48the Backland
12:48superstar
12:49Billy Graham era
12:50to the
12:51Backland
12:52Sheik Hogan
12:54all the way through
12:55it sort of shows
12:57the progression
12:58of the championships
12:59and what they mean
12:59and then
13:00for me
13:01as a kid
13:01I was a huge
13:02fan of
13:03especially this generation
13:04of the Intercontinental Championships
13:06Pat Patterson
13:07the title that he won
13:08Rio de Janeiro
13:09in a tournament
13:10that didn't exist
13:11going through to
13:12you know
13:13this is when I was a kid
13:14that Morocco
13:15and Tito Santana
13:17and Greg Valentine
13:17all carried
13:18and then
13:19going through
13:20to Razor
13:21and I had this one
13:22and then
13:23Rock and I had that one
13:24and then just moving forward
13:26so to me
13:27the history of it
13:28is so strong
13:29Two specific
13:31sets of boots
13:32Andre the Giants
13:33boots you have in here
13:34and one of your mentors
13:36your mentor
13:36Killer Kravosky
13:37Yeah
13:37Talk about those pairs
13:39of boots
13:40and why they're important
13:41to have in here
13:41Sort of an old
13:43cliched thing
13:44I did it when I was done
13:46is like you
13:46put your boots down
13:48in the ring
13:48and you're done
13:49To me there's something
13:51iconic about that
13:52whether it was actually
13:53done or not
13:54so to have
13:55an Andre the Giant
13:56Pair of Boots
13:57in here
13:57that Andre was
13:59so larger than life
14:00almost
14:01to a mythical extent
14:03like there's a lot
14:04of things about Andre
14:05where you hear
14:06and you're not sure
14:06like is that true
14:07or is that like
14:08the myth
14:09and the fallacy
14:10you know Vince
14:10used to tell the story
14:11about Andre had
14:12156 teeth in his head
14:14or something like that
14:15like completely fabricated
14:16but it's a great story
14:18and it's great myth
14:19but then there's stories
14:20about his drinking
14:21that are not myth
14:22and that are
14:23just as incredible
14:24you know I think
14:26when you see his boots
14:27it's really symbolic
14:29of to me
14:30that larger than life nature
14:32because when you see
14:33his boots
14:33you think like
14:34no way
14:34that's like an actual
14:35you know
14:36all this stuff
14:37has immense meaning
14:38The Skull King
14:41you know
14:42for the Wrestlemania
14:43entrances
14:43and I don't have
14:44a lot of
14:45Triple H
14:46things in here
14:47or DX things
14:48in here
14:49it's about the business
14:50this room
14:51my office
14:52or this building
14:53and what comes out of it
14:54it's about the business
14:56which is bigger
14:57than any one performer
14:58so none of this stuff
14:59is about me
15:00I have the Skull King
15:01masks in here
15:02because I just think
15:03they look cool as shit
15:04they do
15:04they do
15:05you know
15:05those are originals
15:06there's not a lot
15:08of originals
15:08I gave one to Metallica
15:10when they let me use
15:12For Whom the Bell Tolls
15:13I presented one
15:14to James Hetfield
15:14and they still have it
15:17which is really cool to me
15:18there's also
15:19if you look at the wall
15:20licenses
15:20back in the day
15:21when everybody had to have
15:22wrestling licenses
15:23it's got licenses in there
15:25from who's who
15:27of that generation
15:28and time
15:28and to me
15:29that speaks to the business
15:31and the fact that
15:32there are people in there
15:33that you could say
15:34Bruno San Martino
15:35and people to this day
15:38are still like
15:39oh my god
15:40Bruno
15:40when I was a kid
15:41you don't understand
15:42how big Bruno was
15:43when I was a kid
15:43or you know
15:44the generational
15:45there's almost no other
15:47sport or business
15:49it exists to some degree
15:50in baseball
15:51and football
15:52and things
15:52but I think
15:53our performers
15:56touch people
15:56as I said
15:57it's like music
15:58before
15:58they touch people
15:59in a different way
16:00motivate them
16:01they're larger than life
16:02people can aspire
16:03to be like them
16:04yes
16:05that brings people
16:06and families together
16:07our business does
16:08like nothing else
16:09absolutely
16:09and I'd be remiss
16:10not to mention
16:11this week
16:12Survivor Series
16:13the next big one
16:14there's been so many moments
16:15what are we cooking up
16:16for Survivor Series
16:17sometimes just to let you know
16:19like after there's
16:19people are like
16:20this was booked amazing
16:21I just
16:22I think I take a screenshot
16:23of you on sneaker shopping
16:24I think you're just like
16:25smirking to the camera
16:26and I don't say anything
16:27I just post that
16:28because
16:28what do we have in store
16:30for that event
16:31Survivor Series
16:33with war games now
16:34it's war games
16:36for both the men and women
16:37which I love
16:37and the thing about it
16:39this year is
16:40and I think you see it
16:42in the Wrestlemania commercials
16:43the field is wide open
16:45yeah
16:45right
16:46between
16:47Brock Lesnar
16:48between Roman
16:50Punk
16:51Cody
16:52Seth is on the shelf
16:53right now
16:53who factors into that
16:55to so many others
16:56and then
16:57that's not even counting
16:58the new generations
16:59of the Braun Breakers
17:00the Bronson Reeds
17:01the
17:01you know
17:02the younger guys
17:03that are up and coming
17:04when
17:05people talk about
17:06the business now
17:07and they talk about
17:08where our talent are at
17:09yeah they're all
17:10the top players
17:12are all in top positions
17:13and they're a bit older
17:14but the thickness
17:15and the depth
17:16of what is underneath them
17:17is what I'm most excited about
17:19because
17:19the field is deep
17:21this business
17:22has got to be in good shape
17:23for a long time
17:23I see myself
17:28as
17:29and there's a lot of people
17:30that are a part of that
17:31don't get me wrong
17:32but I see myself as
17:33the custodian
17:34of the history of this
17:36and its
17:37protection going forward
17:38for long after
17:39I'm not here
17:40or not a part of it
17:41hopefully
17:41whoever steps into
17:43that next generation
17:44of it
17:44has that same
17:45sort of value of it
17:46Paul Triple H
17:50I can't thank you enough
17:52this is a one of a kind
17:53experience to be invited
17:54into these headquarters
17:55and see such a vast collection
17:57of so much history
17:58so thank you so much
17:59great seeing you
18:00thank you
