00:00Glove hurts, met shockingly dumped fan favorite Nimmo and deal for Simeon, a defensive whiz.
00:06Look guys, we all know what Brendan Nimmo meant to the organization and of course the fan base,
00:11but Amazons, I need you to get ready and get out of your feelings because I think that this is going to be
00:16the first of many strictly business decisions that are going to be made by David Stearns this offseason.
00:22Now we can respect a core group of players and we can fall in love with their personalities
00:28and their personal production during the time that they're with an organization.
00:32But the bottom line is, in professional sports, when you ain't winning, changes are going to get made.
00:38And Brendan Nimmo is or now was a part of a core group of guys that they just ain't been getting it done lately, consistently.
00:46We say it all the time in the locker room as players, IJB, it's just business.
00:51First it's Nimmo, now brace yourselves for some other fan favors to be dealt.
00:55Now, bringing in Marcus Simeon means that they're probably going to part ways with Jeff McNeil,
01:00who plays second base, but maybe not.
01:02He can play in the outfield.
01:04Edwin Diaz, we love the trumpets, but if you're David Stearns,
01:07are you going to give four or five years to a closer who turns 32 during spring training?
01:12And of course, there's the whole Pete Alonso situation.
01:15Now I think Alonso stays because you can't deal away all of the fan favorites,
01:20but he is a liability on defense.
01:23If Pete's willing to make the move to DH, maybe he stays.
01:26When you remove all of the emotion and you sit back and you analyze this trade,
01:31moving Brendan Nimmo was the right thing to do to not only shake up the core,
01:36but to refresh it as well.
01:37And it also gives you a chance to go after Cal Tucker or maybe even Cody Bellinger in free agency.
01:43Plus, you're bringing in a guy in Marcus Simeon,
01:45who just won his second career gold glove, recorded seven outs above average,
01:50which placed him in the league's 92nd percentile for range.
01:53And he's also rated among one of the game's best base runners.
01:56No brainer.
01:57If you woke up upset about Nimmo getting dealt,
01:59just remember this team, this core has to be built to beat the Dodgers.
02:05Get out your feelings.
02:06It's just business.
