00:00One small thing, when you bring me out,
00:04can you introduce me as Joker?
00:06Joker laughed its way to the lead of the Oscar nominations,
00:09J. Lo and Beyonce are among the superstar snubs,
00:12and the Queen is speaking out
00:13about Harry and Meghan's royal exit.
00:15I'm Tiffany Taylor, and right now I've got the stories
00:17you need to know today from The Hollywood Reporter News.
00:20It's Oscar nomination day, big day,
00:22and Joker earned the most noms for a comic book-based movie
00:25ever with 11 nods, including one for best picture.
00:28The eight other films up for the night's top honor
00:30are 1917, Ford vs. Ferrari, Jojo Rabbit, Little Women,
00:34The Irishman, Marriage Story, Parasite,
00:37and Once Upon a Time in Hollywood.
00:39I'm Rick Dalton.
00:40It's my pleasure, Mr. Schwartz.
00:42Call me Marvin, put it there.
00:44That your son?
00:45No, that's my stunt double, Cliff Booth.
00:46Now this year's noms saw a number of feats achieved
00:49and records broken.
00:50Saoirse Ronan earned a best actress nom for Little Women,
00:53marking the fourth Oscar nom of her career.
00:56At just 25 years old, this makes her the second youngest
00:58performer ever to receive that number of Oscar noms.
01:01Well, I only sold what was my own.
01:03You're one beauty.
01:04You look like a boy.
01:05Now the current record holder is Jennifer Lawrence.
01:08J-Law has Ronan beat by just mere months.
01:10This year's other best actress nominees are
01:12Cynthia Erivo for Harriet, Scarlett Johansson for Marriage Story,
01:16Charlize Theron for Bombshell, and Renee Zellweger for Judy.
01:19I just want what everybody wants.
01:21I just seem to have a harder time getting it.
01:24In the Best Actor category, stars who woke up to the news they were nominated are
01:28Antonio Banderas for Pain and Glory, marking his first Oscar nom,
01:32Leonardo DiCaprio for Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,
01:34Joaquin Phoenix for Joker,
01:36Jonathan Pryce for The Two Popes,
01:37and Adam Driver for Marriage Story.
01:39We start from a place of reasonable, and they start from a place of crazy.
01:44When we settle, we'll be somewhere between reasonable and crazy.
01:48But while these performers were celebrating this morning,
01:51a few superstar Oscar hopefuls were totally snubbed.
01:54Jennifer Lopez was left out of the Best Supporting Actress category for Hustlers,
01:58and Beyoncé was denied a Best Original Song nom for her track Spirit from The Lion King.
02:03In the Performance category, stars who failed to earn Best Actor nom
02:09include Rocketman's Tarrant Edgerton, fresh off a Golden Globes win,
02:13Christian Bale for Ford vs. Ferrari,
02:15Eddie Murphy for Dolomite Is My Name,
02:17and Adam Sandler for Uncut Gems.
02:19You having a good time?
02:23Yes.
02:24Sandler reacted to the snub on Twitter, writing,
02:26Bad news, Sandman gets no love from the Academy.
02:29Good news, Sandman can stop wearing suits.
02:31Congrats to all my friends who got nominated, especially Mama.
02:34Along with a photo of Kathy Bates, who starred alongside Sandler in Waterboy
02:38and received a Best Supporting Actress nom today for her role in Richard Jewell.
02:42Over in the Best Actress category, the Farewells, Awkwafina was snubbed
02:45after winning a Golden Globe just days ago.
02:48And Lupita Nyong'o, who received a SAG Award nom for Us, was also left out.
02:52And while the Academy gave Frozen a Best Animated Feature win in 2014,
02:56its sequel, Frozen 2, was totally left out of the Best Animated Feature category.
03:01The movie did, however, earn a nom for Best Original Song.
03:04I am afraid of what I'm risking if I follow you into the unknown.
03:12Justice for Queen Anna and Elsa.
03:14And speaking of the Queen, she has spoken.
03:17We're finally hearing from the British monarch herself after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle's
03:21shocking announcement that they're making their royal exit, or Megxit as some have coined it.
03:26A statement released from Buckingham Palace on Monday said,
03:29My family and I are entirely supportive of Harry and Meghan's desire to create a new life as a young family.
03:34Although we would have preferred them to remain full-time working members of the royal family,
03:38we respect and understand their wish to live a more independent life as a family while remaining a valued part of my family.
03:45The monarch also claimed an agreement had been reached for a, quote,
03:48period of transition, where the couple would split their time between Canada, where Markle once lived, and the UK.
03:55The Queen concluded,
03:56These are complex matters for my family to resolve, and there is some more work to be done,
04:00but I have asked for final decisions to be reached in the coming days.
04:04The Queen's statement follows an afternoon of talks between the Queen, Prince Charles, Prince William, and Prince Harry,
04:10with Markle reportedly dialing into the conversation as she is currently back in Canada to be with their newborn Archie.
