00:03Your childhood friendship goals Christopher Robin and Winnie the Pooh are headed to the big screen
00:08in Disney's live-action Christopher Robin. And The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively
00:12learned that Ewan McGregor is in talks to star as Robin himself.
00:16The film centers on the young boy, now an adult, from the A.A. Milne Winnie the Pooh stories.
00:21McGregor will play an older Robin who is now a businessman who has lost his sense of imagination.
00:27Milne's Christopher Robin was inspired by and named after his own son, Christopher Robin Milne.
00:32He wrote about the character in two books, Winnie the Pooh in 1926 and The House at Pooh Corner in 1928,
00:38and other poems. Disney adapted the tales into several animated projects, including the 1988 series
00:44The New Adventures of Winnie the Pooh and the 2011 animated film Winnie the Pooh.
00:49We will have a contest to find a new tale for Ewan.
00:53The new film will be helmed by World War Z and Quantum of Solace director Mark Forster.
00:58The studio is also bringing in Oscar-nominated screenwriter Alison Schroeder of Hidden Figures
01:03to take a new pass of the script. Alex Ross Perry wrote the screenplay and Tom McCarthy worked
01:08on a later draft. The Jungle Book producer Brigham Taylor is producing the project.
01:12McGregor, of course, can currently be seen starring in the third season of FX's hit Fargo,
01:17as well as Disney's live-action Beauty and the Beast with Emma Watson.
