00:00Avery Thompson, Hollywood Life.
00:01Thank you ladies for taking the time to speak with me about season two,
00:04which after that first season, there's a lot to discuss and get into.
00:09So Maureen, you know, obviously the Jizzlord twist, a wife and child.
00:14Yeah.
00:15Just after the significant development in their relationship,
00:18what can you sort of tease about the fallout of that?
00:20I think like, yeah, so there's like season two obviously starts
00:23and I think Jen thinks her life has like just begun.
00:26It's like all the important things feels like they've fallen into place.
00:30Like she's going to get her power.
00:31She's got a boyfriend and they're going to have an amazing relationship.
00:34That's where she thinks her life is now going.
00:36And then obviously that kind of all comes crashing down once.
00:39So I think, yeah, the first episode specifically, they're navigating.
00:43He's navigating like how to tell her and like figure that out.
00:46And she finds out in a kind of like by the by way and then is trying to tell him as well.
00:53So obviously that causes a lot of problems and yeah.
00:56Is it a deal breaker?
00:59I will say that they try and work through it.
01:03They try and work through it.
01:04Yeah.
01:05She puts her best foot forward, but in classic Jen style, it doesn't really.
01:08Maturity, you know, in for effort.
01:11Gross.
01:12Yeah, gross.
01:13Carrie is dealing with sort of the aftermath of a breakup with Cash.
01:17You know, what does their dynamic look like now that they're no longer together?
01:21Well, you know what, it's kind of complicated obviously living in the same flat with your ex.
01:27So they're trying to kind of navigate that, figure that out.
01:30I think it's given her a bit of a boost in energy and she wants to kind of find out who she is and explore herself in a different way.
01:39And he's dealing with it and it's sort of, he's finding it a bit harder, but they're trying to kind of figure out how they can exist in the same space.
01:46Yes.
01:47Which is complicated.
01:48Uh, yeah.
01:49It's like one thing to sort of like be, you know, single, you know, away from your ex.
01:56Yeah.
01:57But you know, is she going to embrace a single girl life a little bit or?
02:01You know what, with, I can say she has a bit of like a makeover.
02:06Okay.
02:07And she tries to really kind of throw herself into single life and figuring out who she is on her own because this is the first time she's been single for such a long time.
02:14Yeah.
02:15So she really, yeah, she really kind of goes hell forever and gives it a good go.
02:18Okay.
02:19What does, you know, sort of obviously the friendship between Carrie and Jen is so important, you know, talk to me a little bit about where that goes in season two.
02:27I think it's tested like this.
02:29Yeah.
02:30I mean, we see a test in season one.
02:31Yeah.
02:32I think like it feels like they kind of learn something.
02:34Like, I think they learn something from that instance and hopefully kind of try and move on.
02:39But I think the same problem kind of comes up again in season two in quite a more serious way.
02:45I think like it's really like, it's quite an emotional journey that they go on together.
02:51And I think Jen begins to realise that how dependent she is on Carrie.
02:55They really are each other's like support unit.
02:58Yeah.
02:59And I think actually Jen is really kind to Carrie in this, when she's going through the breakup and encourages her to find out who she is.
03:05Yeah.
03:06And kind of like explore that.
03:07And be independent.
03:08Yeah.
03:09But then I think that's kind of what happens is that she realises, Carrie realises that independence, that like, she kind of enables people to depend on.
03:14Totally.
03:15And that in order to experience full independence, there needs to be more boundaries.
03:18Yeah.
03:19Totally.
03:20Yeah.
03:21We all have that kind of friend in some way in our lives.
03:22Yeah.
03:23And plus, like, if a friendship was just totally easy, then it's like, is it a true friendship?
03:27Yes.
03:28There has to have ebbs and flows.
03:29Yeah.
03:30Because then you're being really truthful with like how you're feeling.
03:32Oh yeah.
03:33You get stronger because of it then.
03:34Exactly.
03:35Yeah.
03:36They have a beautiful friendship.
03:37They do.
03:38I think it's so deep and so like, it's almost like sisters.
03:39And it's the fact that they've like known each other for so many years.
03:40Yeah.
03:41They've been through so much like things together.
03:44Mm.
03:45What does Jen's individual journey or her personal journey look like this season?
03:49There's a lot of like, she goes through a lot of difficult stuff and a lot of kind of realising big things and needing to kind of say goodbye to some elements of her life and kind of reintroduce new bits to her life.
04:03I think that she wants to grow up, like she wants to be better and be a better person for her relationships and for her friendships.
04:10But I think, yeah, she finds it hard to let go of certain bits of her.
04:14But it's beautiful seeing her try because she really does try and really tries to embrace like…
04:19And obviously because of the whole thing with the power is that like, she goes to this clinic, obviously, and in this clinic, the therapist who she meets, he, instead of kind of it being, I think they expect it's like some chemical reaction, which means that then she gets her power, she kind of gets a good like shake up and then it changes her to then give her power.
04:37But what actually happens is that he kind of works with her to break down like maybe emotional blockages or like, you know, different, yeah, so they go into that, they start that journey of breaking down emotional blockages, which I don't think Jen has ever done.
04:52Which could be interesting.
04:54Yes.
04:55Yeah.
04:56I feel like we all have those in some way or another.
04:58And it's really affronting when you kind of do that for the first time.
05:00And I think Jen has the experience kind of going, oh my God, like, yeah, she wants to deny a lot of it, but she's forced to face it.
05:06Coming of age, whether you're 15, 20 or 30.
05:10Yeah.
05:11You know, you've got to confront those things.
05:13Obviously, there are just a plethora of powers in this show.
05:18Over, I guess, over filming the first two seasons, you know, did you think of any on your own that you like pitched to Emma at all?
05:25Oh, that's a good question.
05:26In press, we did a little bit for like the first season because each time we decided, okay, you know what, we're going to come up with a completely different power.
05:33Yes, yeah.
05:34Each time.
05:35Each time we harassed it, yeah.
05:36So we kind of thought of some, but they weren't very...
05:38They weren't very...
05:39But we did.
05:40Do you remember when we did the rehearsals for the first season?
05:42That was something we did.
05:43Do you remember we used to...
05:44We gave each other powers.
05:45What were they?
05:46We were doing rehearsals with Dr. Wenderburn, the vet.
05:48Oh, yeah.
05:49And also with Safia, who played my sister in it, Andy.
05:52And we made up each other's powers.
05:55And I remember one that was Extendable Neck.
05:57Oh, yeah.
05:58That was Luke's.
05:59Luke's.
06:00Extendable Neck.
06:01Someone who turned into a chair on the tube whenever you wanted so you could always have a seat.
06:07That is quick.
06:08Interesting.
06:09Okay.
06:10Yeah.
06:11Is there anyone...
06:12Anybody's power on the show that you would like...
06:14You would want?
06:19Actually...
06:21Maybe...
06:22Wait, what is Anja's power?
06:25Oh, she's...
06:26Because she gets stuck as a child.
06:27Yeah.
06:28But she can...
06:29I'm trying to remember what her actual power is.
06:30She gets younger as she gets older.
06:32But she gets stuck, doesn't she?
06:34She's a nine-year-old.
06:35I don't remember.
06:36She's a nine-year-old in like a 50-year-old woman's body.
06:37She's a 50-year-old in a nine-year-old body.
06:38Maybe I wouldn't want that though.
06:39I don't think that's that good, is it?
06:40Benjamin Buttoning.
06:41Yeah.
06:42I think maybe like teleportation.
06:45Yeah.
06:46Just so useful and so useful.
06:47You can't argue with that.
06:48You just can't.
06:49Or maybe super strong.
06:50That's what Andy has.
06:51Super strong.
06:52That'd be quite nice.
06:53Yeah, but that does have its downsides, remember?
06:54Oh, it does, of course!
06:55Yeah.
06:56Well, I cannot wait to see where season two goes.
06:59The first season was such a blast and what a way to end that first season.
07:03And I can't wait to see where we pick up in season two.
07:06Thank you so much!
07:07Thank you!
