00:00Mike Richards, who currently stands as the front-runner to become the permanent host of Jeopardy!,

00:04was involved in a 2010 discrimination lawsuit that involved his decision to

00:08fire a former Price is Right model who became pregnant.

00:13The lawsuit was filed by Brandi Cochran in 2010 against CBS and Fremantle Media

00:18during Richards' tenure as a co-executive producer of the Price is Right.

00:22Cochran claimed to be the victim of pregnancy discrimination

00:25after she wasn't invited to rejoin Price is Right.

00:28Richards, who had taken on producing responsibilities at Price is Right in 2008,

00:32attempted a more active role for models on the TV game show.

00:36Cochran said she originally kept her pregnancy a secret because she did not want to be fired.

00:40Cochran testified that when she told others she was pregnant,

00:43Richards, quote, put his head in his hands and later allegedly stormed up to her and said,

00:48Twins, are you kidding? Are you serious?

00:50While Richards defended not rehiring the model because of the show's evolving format,

00:55a jury sided with Cochran and awarded her $8.5 million in compensatory and punitive damages.

01:01It was a landmark verdict at the time,

01:03but one that was short-lived as a judge then wiped out the verdict for bad jury instructions.

01:08While Jeopardy! producers Sony Pictures Television have yet to officially confirm that Richards will

01:12take over for the late Alex Trebek as Jeopardy! s full-time host,

01:16news broke Wednesday that he is the leading candidate for the job.

01:19Other guest hosts who effectively auditioned for the job include fan favorite LeVar Burton,

01:24former Jeopardy! champs like Ken Jennings, as well as Savannah Guthrie,

01:27Anderson Cooper, Aaron Rodgers, and many others.
