00:00Lil Nas X wins video of the year at the VMAs. Machine Gun Kelly and Conor McGregor
00:08reportedly got into a little scuffle on the red carpet. Plus Normani channels
00:12her inner Janet Jackson for a wild performance. Hey guys it's Ali for
00:19Hollywood Life and we're about to give you a quick recap of this year's VMA
00:22Awards and trust me it was a good one. So much nostalgia but also boss vibes.
00:27Starting with the madness that took place on the red carpet before the actual
00:32show, Conor McGregor apparently got into a physical confrontation with Machine
00:37Gun Kelly. As the night went on multiple photos and videos surfaced of the MMA
00:42fighter appearing to take a swing at MGK and a video also showed Conor throwing a
00:47drink in his direction. Following the scuffle, Conor told Entertainment Tonight
00:51that he doesn't know what happened, adding that he doesn't fight little
00:56vanilla boy rappers. Hollywood Life reached out to both camps for
00:59confirmation and clarification on what exactly occurred and at the time of
01:04this recording we've yet to hear back. Alright now moving on to the actual show
01:09Justin Bieber opened up the night with his first performance on the VMA stage in
01:13six years. The singer and Kid Leroy started off with their viral TikTok hit
01:18stay while coming down from the ceiling of the Barclays Center. Soon after Justin
01:23went into a solo performance of his song Ghost and his number one fan Hailey Baldwin
01:28was in the audience cheering him on. And next up let's jump into Lil Nas X's
01:32performance because he did not come to play. The Old Town Road star graced the
01:37stage along with Jack Harlow to perform his new single Industry Baby. He arrived with a
01:42full marching band and proceeded to take his shirt off and dance in a pair of
01:47bright pink jail pants. Let's not also forget the insane chemistry between Jack
01:53and Lil Nas X especially during that clap scene. I smell a bromance brewing between
01:57these two. But anyways after that song was over Lil Nas X stripped down completely
02:01into a pair of sparkly pink boxer briefs before going into a rendition of Call Me By
02:07Your Name. Lil Nas X put his final stamp on this performance with a dance sequence
02:12that included him grabbing his crotch and humping the air in a fake prison shower.
02:17What did you guys think of this epic performance? Let us know in the comments.
02:20And staying on major show moments, Normani graced the VMA stage as well and it was giving.
02:27This was her second ever solo performance for the show and she arguably had the sexiest
02:32performance of the night. Coming behind Lil Nas X, of course. But Normani opened her performance
02:37with her new single Wild Side while wearing a futuristic inspired silver lame outfit and she
02:43paid homage to notable stars before her such as TLC. The singer also channeled her inner Janet Jackson
02:49and showed her sexy side with a metal contraption that had Tiana Taylor tied to it.
02:54This performance was also pretty big because Normani wasn't originally set to perform at the VMAs
03:00and she wasn't added to the lineup until she shared that MTV hadn't booked her yet.
03:05Okay, but now onto the most important part of the night and that is the awards themselves.
03:10Olivia Rodrigo took home Best New Artist and she was past the crown from former 2020 winner
03:17and VMA's host Doja Cat. Lil Nas X took home the biggest award of the night with Montero,
03:22Call Me By Your Name for Video of the Year and he thanked the Gay Agenda during his acceptance speech.
03:28And you might know this award has caused a little bit of controversy in the past.
03:32You know, Kanye West and Taylor Swift.
