00:00Residents of the Taman United Flats along Jalan Sepakat were evacuated on Monday morning
00:07after a retaining wall suddenly collapsed.
00:10A large section of the wall gave way at around 10am,
00:14sending debris crashing onto the road and even knocking a parked car sideways.
00:19According to Sepute MP Teresa Cox's assistant, Alice Lan,
00:23residents had reported visible cracks on Jalan Sepakat just an hour earlier.
00:29Residents from Block C, involving about 104 units,
00:33along with occupants of two nearby bungalows, were instructed to leave their homes for safety.
00:39People living in adjacent blocks were also told to evacuate as a precaution.
00:43Fire and Rescue Department officers were on-site assessing the stability of the area
00:48and cordoning off the back lanes, while police provided additional support.
00:53However, some residents reportedly refused to leave, despite repeated warnings.
00:59The collapse affects roughly 104 units in Block C,
01:03with neighbouring blocks also asked to relocate temporarily,
01:06as authorities continue to monitor the situation.
