00:02Residents of an apartment complex in Bandar Damai Perdana, Cheras, were ordered to evacuate
00:08their homes on Tuesday night following a landslide near the building.
00:13Selangor Fire and Rescue Department Assistant Operations Director Ashrul Riazal Asbar said
00:20the landslide is believed to have been caused by an underground water leak.
00:23He said the on-site operations commander ordered residents near Block A to evacuate as a precautionary
00:31measure. Ashrul Riazal said the department received an emergency call at 9.03pm. The team arrived eight
00:39minutes later and found that a landslide had occurred on a 4.57-metre high slope. The soil
00:46had slid approximately 0.91 metres into the affected area. Ashrul Riazal said water was still flowing at
00:53the site although no further soil movement had been detected. He said firefighters were
00:59closely monitoring the soil condition and water flow to ensure the safety of residents and
01:04personnel at the scene.
