00:00Hello and welcome to this Victorian Janesweather update for Monday.
00:04We have got fairly clear skies, but we're starting to see showers and thunderstorms kicking off to the west.
00:09That is going to sweep through over the next 24 to 48 hours.
00:13We've got our cyclone in the north, and the thing that we care about that is it will turn into a big ball of moisture.
00:19And whenever that can connect with our weather systems as they cross the south,
00:23then that's going to produce extra rain for us as they come through.
00:26So that's over the next week or two, whenever we've got wet weather, it's more than we would normally see with that weather system.
00:32So let's have a look today. Here is our heat pattern. It's all in through here.
00:36I'm going to put on a bit of a thing here, which is known as the dew point.
00:39We've got a lot of moisture that is coming down from the northeast.
00:42So our pattern has turned it so that we've got fairly nausally winds still at the coast they are on shore,
00:46but a nausally airflow. And so these purples, that's your Queensland really tropical humidity.
00:52Anything blue here is you're really feeling quite humid.
00:55And we're seeing that through Victoria.
00:57So keep that in mind that temperatures today feel even warmer than what they usually are.
01:02We've got fire danger that's in through here as well.
01:04OK, let's have a look day by day. Here we have Monday.
01:07The trough is here by the end of the day, so there's the risk of showers and thunderstorms coming in.
01:11They arrive in Melbourne very late.
01:13We've got this that cleared out of Gippsland during the morning.
01:16So there's Monday.
01:18Have a look at Tuesday.
01:19The rest of that moves through as the trough comes in.
01:21And that's when we're going to start to feel a little bit of a change in the air that won't be quite as hot or as humid as what it has been.
01:28Have a look at Wednesday.
01:29Here's our next weather system coming in.
01:31Having a look at the blues and the purple colour here versus the red colour.
01:35So the dotted lines that are in through there.
01:37There's the heat.
01:38There's the cold.
01:39We are right in the middle of that.
01:41So we're going to feel it as we go through Wednesday and Thursday with this cold air coming past.
01:45And this got fed by that moisture.
01:47So it brings a little bit more than you would normally expect with a cold front coming through.
01:52So that's what we're looking at during the day on Wednesday and then into Thursday.
01:55And there's the cold air moving through.
01:57So Thursday is the chilly's day of this little period.
02:01All right.
02:01So there's Thursday.
02:02Have a look at Friday.
02:03Hey, what do you know?
02:04The next weather system is kicking off.
02:06We've got a cold front that's moving in through there.
02:08It's fed by all of that moisture.
02:10This is a band of rain and thunderstorms.
02:12So it comes in during the day on Friday and then continues moving through as we go through Saturday.
02:17So the next one is Friday into Saturday.
02:20Have a look at Sunday.
02:21More cold air that is brewing in through here.
02:23Another connection to that tropical moisture.
02:25So by Monday, there's our next weather system that is coming in and the cold air that does come with it lasting into Tuesday next week.
02:33So this is going to add up to a fair bit, particularly if you're in the southern parts here.
02:37So it's the southwest and the western parts of Gippsland plus the ranges.
02:41It does steadily decrease as you head further inland, but not back to zero.
02:45We are still looking at 10 to 15 here and 15 to 25 just north of the ranges.
02:50So for Melbourne, let's unpack what this means.
02:52We're at 26 and 26.
02:54Have a look at our dew point temperature here.
02:5617.
02:57And that's very high for us.
02:59So it feels very, very humid during the afternoon.
03:01A bit of a taste of Queensland is coming in.
03:03So gorgeous conditions as we go through the day on Monday.
03:07Let's unpack this wet weather here.
03:09It is overnight.
03:10So here we have sunshine, then a little bit of cloud later on.
03:14There's nothing really today.
03:15But happy look here in the early hours of the morning.
03:17That's when that comes through.
03:19It's all clear by dawn and then we're back to sunshine.
03:22So it's overnight.
03:22You might not even know that it was actually there.
03:25So that's Monday into Tuesday.
03:26We're back up to 26.
03:27By the afternoon, we're in a southwesterly.
03:30The dew point's gone down to 11, so it'll start to feel a little bit cooler.
03:33Wednesday is our next burst of wet weather.
03:35It's 21 as the top, about 5 millimetres.
03:38It's in the morning and afternoon.
03:39We might get a thunderstorm in that.
03:41On Thursday, that's when our colder air is here, 18 or 19.
03:45We're in a southwesterly wind and we've got showers passing through.
03:49Dry during the day on Friday than at night.
03:51Let's have a look at the timing of this one.
03:53So here we go.
03:54Dry all through the day on Friday.
03:56Friday, day, dry.
03:58Evening is when that wet weather gets here, just like we saw last Saturday.
04:01Dry all during the day and then the rain arrived at night.
04:05So that takes us into Saturday.
04:06So it's one day earlier.
04:08That continues through the night and then clears up slowly during the morning.
04:12So there'll be a fair bit of cloud there.
04:13So it says light rain at times because we've got all of that cloud that is overhead.
04:17But it clears up by the afternoon as we move into Saturday.
04:20So heading back to there, temperatures Friday 23, then down to 18 for Saturday.
04:25You saw the cold outbreak come through.
04:2620 on Sunday and then 19 at this stage on Monday.
04:30Next Tuesday is looking cooler as that next system comes in.
04:33As always, head to follow Long Weather for the latest.
