00:00Think of it, such a thing has never, never been available to mankind in its history.
00:06And those who are missing out are doing themselves a great disservice.
00:11They will meet extinction. They will be fossilized.
00:15My question is around artificial intelligence.
00:17With the rise of artificial intelligence, power and wealth are getting concentrated in very few hands.
00:23In such a scenario, how should one see the entire development from the lens of true wisdom?
00:30Historically, one of the biggest contributors to inequality has been the lack of access to knowledge.
00:38Just think of the impact possible.
00:41Don't miss out on the opportunity.
00:43We are at the beginning of another revolution and probably a bigger revolution than the ones we have seen in history.
00:50Don't miss out on this one.
00:52Because if you will miss out, there are others who won't.
00:54And knowledge is power.
00:59Namaste Acharya Ji.
01:01I am Mayank.
01:02I am from Mumbai.
01:04And I work in financial services industry.
01:07And my question is around artificial intelligence.
01:10So with the rise of artificial intelligence, one of the patterns that we are seeing is that power and wealth are getting concentrated in very few hands.
01:19In such a scenario, how should one see the entire development from the lens of true wisdom?
01:37That's my first question.
01:40And I have another question which focuses on what would be the right response of a conscious individual to such a world wherein the technology is growing rapidly, but the inner clarity is declining.
01:53You know, AI is a special phenomenon.
02:01See, we often say facts are the door to truth.
02:07The kind of exposure, knowledge that AI puts in the hands of the common man today is unprecedented.
02:30And that has to be used.
02:35Yes, what you are saying is very right.
02:37Power is getting concentrated in fewer hands.
02:40So is wealth.
02:43But AI is a huge opportunity.
02:52OpenAI's Sam Altman rolling out GPT-5.
02:56He said something, which is indeed factual.
03:03He said, never in history has the common man been so empowered.
03:12And knowledge is the biggest power you can have.
03:19He went on to say something like, now in your pocket,
03:22you have PhDs at your disposal.
03:29Something to that effect.
03:33Any subject, anything, and you can consult and know.
03:39And historically, one of the biggest contributors to inequality has been the lack of access to knowledge.
03:49And AI is at least potentially taking care of that.
04:01You have a friend in your pocket.
04:03You have a friend at your palm.
04:05You can ask anything.
04:07Just think of the colossal impact possible.
04:14Provided it is used rightly by each of us.
04:20There are so many things that you would almost certainly never come to know of in your life.
04:29If not for AI.
04:30And there is a little bit of diversity, choice, you can say democratization available because you don't really have to depend on one model.
04:45If not certain of the answer, you can cross check with something, you can go to Gemini, you go to Co-Pilot, you go somewhere else and pick up whatever you want to know.
04:58And we have to appreciate the kind of power, enfranchisement that knowledge brings.
05:10What does the ordinary person, a farmer, a girl, a housewife, in a small town or a village of India know?
05:26But the smartphone is ubiquitous.
05:28And a lot of the AI models, the chatbots, they are still free or at a very nominal price.
05:40And you can ask anything.
05:43And you don't have to be constrained by language either.
05:50Right?
05:51It could be broken English.
05:54Or your mother tongue.
05:55AI supports vernacular.
05:56And you don't understand.
06:02Being at least artificially intelligent, it would understand what you want to ask or it would seek to clarify from you.
06:12Is this what you want to know?
06:13Is this what you want to know?
06:14So, it hand holds.
06:17And it's wonderful.
06:17Think of it.
06:18Such a thing has never, never been available to mankind in its history.
06:23And those who are missing out on AI are doing themselves a great disservice.
06:30They will meet extinction.
06:34They will be fossilized.
06:38You see, when you wanted to keep a section of the population back in history, what would you do?
06:53You deprive them of learning?
06:57Now, today, it's a miraculous thing.
07:05You don't have to go to a place.
07:08You don't have to enroll into a course.
07:10Just say you want to learn and you can learn anything at your pace, in your own way, at a time of your choice.
07:22And there's not much that you are paying.
07:28All kinds of lies can be called out.
07:35All kinds of superstitions can be debunked.
07:39You just have to ask.
07:40Yes, please tell.
07:41And it will tell you the fact of everything.
07:43You could not study modern physics, because you opted for commerce in your class 11th.
07:55And now you are a professional in the finance field or accountancy or somewhere.
08:01Great opportunity for you.
08:04Here's your chance to study modern physics in your own way.
08:07Today, I want everybody to be very, very conversant with this new tool.
08:20And take it very seriously, yet play with it as one does with a toy.
08:27In the sense of experimentation.
08:30You must know what it is capable of.
08:42And then you must put it to the best use possible.
08:49And the more you explore it, the more you discover what it can do.
08:55It is the beginning of a new kind of sentience.
08:58I take it as a big step in the process of human evolution.
09:07We too are just material beings, right?
09:12What we call as the soul within is just a superstition.
09:17It is a particular configuration of material that shines as consciousness or at least personal consciousness.
09:28We call ourselves sentience.
09:32Similarly, AI is material, no doubt.
09:37But to the extent we call ourselves sentient, AI too soon can be called as a sentient.
09:46AGI is not too far away.
09:48So, this has to be taken as an evolutionary step that we have come to.
10:00If you miss out on it, you are missing out on history.
10:03Yes, we fully agree that those who control technology and those who control capital,
10:20they are the ones who rule the world.
10:21But then one of the things that the rulers have historically very carefully controlled is information, knowledge.
10:34So, that's where I see a clear break from the past.
10:39They will not be able to control information now.
10:43Not just information, this is not just the Google search engine where all you have is information.
10:54This is information consciously curated as a solution.
11:01Right, and bigger than any other power.
11:12Yes, technology is power and capital is power, but bigger than any other power is the power of knowledge.
11:18And if that power will be devolved into the hands of the common man, then miracles are possible.
11:35Think of all the evils that we suffer from.
11:38Don't they come from the false beliefs we carry?
11:42Right, all wisdom literature aimed at liberating the individual is essentially an effort to clear
11:55away false beliefs.
12:01And what better way to check your beliefs than by putting it to test
12:06on the cornerstone of facts themselves?
12:15AI is the litmus test, it is the touchstone.
12:20You believe in something, go test it.
12:23You think you have written a great piece, go test.
12:29You think your traditional value system is wonderful, go test.
12:34I am not saying what you will get is the veritable truth itself.
12:44But chances are, what you will get
12:48will be way better than what you currently already believe in.
12:58So, it will be a giant leap forward.
13:04I want all members of our Gita community
13:11to be very, very conversant with AI.
13:17And that doesn't need
13:19you to enroll into some fancy course.
13:24Just download the apps
13:26and start using them.
13:27It's very intuitive.
13:31You will become very good with practice.
13:35In fact, how best to use AI?
13:37That too can be a question that AI can best answer.
13:44Download and ask, how do I use you?
13:47Or in your native language?
13:54Tumhara istimal kiasae karein?
13:58It will take you through.
14:01Don't miss out on the opportunity.
14:03It's very, very important.
14:07Maybe,
14:10you miss the industrial revolution.
14:17You miss the internet revolution.
14:21We are at the beginning of another revolution and probably a bigger revolution than the ones we
14:32have seen in history.
14:33Don't miss out on this one.
14:35Because if you will miss out, there are others who won't.
14:46And knowledge is power.
14:54Go there, enquire, check, cross-check, verify and don't hesitate
15:03in putting yourself to test.
15:10It's not just about gathering information about this and that all and sundry.
15:22Human being
15:25is a walking storehouse
15:30of beliefs.
15:33Scrutinize each one of them.
15:40We take decisions every day, don't we?
15:45Consult AI.
15:47Obviously, you don't have to accept.
15:53But there's a great chance you'll get a fresh perspective.
15:59And that's a very, very big thing.
16:00What else is liberation?
16:07It's a dismantling
16:11of the envelope that secures you.
16:14It's a breaking out from your usual shell.
16:18Don't go there just to know more.
16:27Go there to test what you already think you know.
16:31That's more important.
16:34We cannot control what the rich ones are doing.
16:47Can we?
16:48We can complain, we can crib.
16:53We can regret.
16:54We can caution.
16:56But they'll do what they have to do.
16:57The powerful ones, they'll take their own course.
17:00Let us do what we can.
17:13Let's use it to the greatest advantage possible.
17:16And that also means, do not go for frivolous uses.
17:25One, it wastes your time.
17:27Secondly, it will load you with unnecessary information.
17:31Thirdly, AI is very energy intensive.
17:35And has a significant carbon footprint.
17:42So, every nonsensical or trivial question that you ask chat or matter, you consult
17:49any language model on,
17:50leads to a waste of resources.
17:58And there is a certain carbon footprint associated with that.
18:05So, be careful when you are dealing with this very powerful new toy.
18:18Yes.
18:20I think that was it.
18:28Thank you Acharya.
18:30Welcome.
