00:00A man who was seen driving a luxury SUV dangerously along the Sungai Besi highway
00:06towards Thaman Naga Emas, an incident that has gone viral since Saturday, has been arrested.
00:13Kuala Lumpur Traffic Investigation and Enforcement Department Chief ACP Mohamed Zamzuri
00:18Mohamed Issa said that the 32-year-old driver was detained on Sunday after he turned up
00:24at the Kuala Lumpur Traffic Police Station at about 10.30 a.m. to record his statement.
00:30Initial investigations revealed that the incident took place at 8 a.m. on Saturday.
00:40Police conducted both urine and evidential breath analyzer EBA tests,
00:45which found the driver positive for ketamine, amphetamine and methamphetamine.
00:49When questioned, the driver claimed that his vehicle's tyre had burst after hitting a pothole
00:55and, because his house was nearby, he decided to continue driving straight home.
01:00A viral video of the incident, recorded by a motorcyclist, shows an SUV being driven dangerously
01:24with its right rear tyre completely blown out, exposing the rim.
01:28The case is being investigated under Section 42, Subsection 1 of the Road Transport Act 1987
01:35for reckless and dangerous driving.
