00:05In a statement concerning his passing, Keith, who was diagnosed with stomach cancer in 2022,
00:11passed peacefully last night on February 5th, surrounded by his family.
00:15He fought his fight with grace and courage.
00:18The Nashville country star was known for his hits that included the likes of Who's Your Daddy,

00:26The music star recently performed at the People's Choice Country Awards in September,
00:34where he received the Country Icon Award.
00:36Keith often made headlines for being vocal with his politics.
00:40In August of 2008, for example, before Barack Obama became U.S. president,
00:45the music star called him the best Democratic candidate we've had since Bill Clinton.
00:49He later expressed his admiration for Republican vice presidential candidate Sarah Palin,
00:53and then said that he had left the Democratic Party and registered as independent.
00:57Keith also performed at President Donald Trump's pre-inauguration concert at Washington's Lincoln Memorial in 2017.
01:04He also racked up some acting credits and was featured in the 2006 film Broken Bridges,
01:09where he played a washed-up country musician.
