Country Weather – Country Weather 1969-71 (USA, West Coast, Psychedelic, Jam Rock)
In 1966, The Virtues emerged on the San Francisco (California) music scene. Formed in the Walnut Creek suburb of San Francisco by high school students Dave Carter, Denny Rogan, and Steve Derr, the group was formed. Greg Douglass and Bill Baron were later recruited to replace Denny Rogan. In 1967, at the suggestion of promoter Chet Helms, the group changed its name to Country Weather. At his suggestion, the musicians also stopped playing cover songs and concentrated on writing their own original material. Soon after, they began receiving invitations to perform at major San Francisco venues such as The Avalon Ballroom, The Fillmore Auditorium, and Winterland. Although Country Weather never signed to a major label, during their heyday in the 1960s, they managed to record five promotional demos in 1969 and received 50 copies of them. Without releasing albums, the band received regular airplay on local radio stations. In 1973, Country Weather disbanded after Greg Douglass left the group to join Mistress. He later joined The Steve Miller Band and also played as a sideman for a number of well-known artists, including Van Morrison. Dave Carter continued his activities with Quicksilver Messenger Service and played with former Moby Grape member Skip Spence. In 2000, the musicians came together to help raise funds for a liver transplant for a mutual friend. As a result, the group resumed active activities. However, after the reformation, only Dave Carter remained from the original lineup. This lineup released a number of discs, but that's another story... This CD, released by RD Records in 2005, collects recordings from 1969-1971, including studio work and live performances. In 2007, the band was nominated for a Grammy for this collection.

00:09:16But mine, but mine and nothing left in my eyes
00:09:20Cause I have shed my tears for today
00:09:26I lay a hand, if you understand, I lay a hand, if you understand, I lay a hand, if you understand, but I touch things that I should not feel.
00:09:56I hear words that were not meant for me, but I hear words that were not meant for me, no, no, no, it makes me cry, but mine had nothing left in my eyes, cause I have shed my tears for today.
00:10:16I lay a hand, I lay a hand, if you understand, I lay a hand, if you understand, I lay a hand, if you understand, I can't believe it.
