I loved the movie, first of all. I was just telling my technical director in here with me that
00:05
I love Whodunits and I caught on to this one really late, which surprised me because I thought
00:10
I would immediately pick up on who it was. It was so good. Really? Yeah. Okay, good. I was actually
00:17
surprised. But okay, okay, of course we have to start with Miranda Green is back. What was it
00:22
like for you to return to that private eye life? Oh my god, it was so great. I love this character
00:27
so much. She really has a place in my heart. Anybody close to me knows how much I love
00:33
Whodunits as well. And I love like Cluedo things like for my birthday we did like it's always
00:38
something like that. I'm obsessed with Agatha Christie, all of it. So this is kind of like
00:43
the perfect role for me because it's a period piece which I love. You know, I love this era
00:48
and she's just a strong, cool woman. And you know, I love her as a person. So it's a great
00:54
character to get to play. I love Downton Abbey. And it was also giving me Downton Abbey
00:59
vibes. Like the period piece and the collection of the cast. It was so fun. I mean, you kind
01:05
of just touched on this, but you've dabbled in so many genres, scripted shows, Broadway,
01:09
horror. What really piqued your interest about doing murder mystery or like a whodunit like
01:13
this? Well, yeah, I just love I love murder mysteries. I think everybody does. But I do to
01:19
an insane extent, especially Agatha Christie. I grew up in a, you know, household where we
01:24
watched a lot of that. And and yeah, it's just something about the actors I get to work
01:31
with in this series are always so great and to see what they bring to the table. And the
01:36
fact that we actually get to shoot in these places like, you know, we went to Cairo for
01:39
this one. We were in Egypt. It felt really special. So it was really practical, you know,
01:44
and like, it's not all CGI. And so the fact that a lot of it is real and we're really on
01:50
the Nile and we really have these amazing cast and crew around make a big difference. And
01:55
so it is special. Absolutely. What do you think for fans that saw the first one? What
02:01
are some differences, but yet still similarities for the second one and when they watch it?
02:08
Well, I think they're getting better. And I think, you know, like to be honest, because
02:12
the first one was like, you know, it was we were just getting into it. And it was just
02:15
like, kind of like getting to know each other. So on this one, we really knew what we were
02:19
doing. And on the next one, I will know even more than God. But I just I think it is it
02:26
is it is a special character to get to play. And it's a lucky lead to have. And I like the
02:32
way that everybody flows together and the way that we get to run lines on set and like
02:36
because it's an ensemble cast, the way that we get to like flow together is kind of cool.
02:40
And even though the cast changes a little bit or a lot pretty much each time, it's still
02:45
we get great actors. And it's really a nice experience for me. So
02:49
Yeah, that's so fun. And I love the beginning with the dog. I feel like her character also
02:55
like at least too bad we had to switch the dog. I was like, do we get the same blunder back?
03:01
I know. Don't tell anybody. But it's not the same blunder. He didn't come from America this
03:07
time. But I love the dog relationship too. And I agree. I think it's a lovely warm addition to her
03:15
character that she's so obsessed with her dog. Yeah, it's so cute. And I love seeing her really
03:20
grow too. I feel like at the beginning of the film, there was some, you know, oh, she's really just
03:24
getting into this more herself now. And then by the end of it, it was like, no, this is exactly what
03:30
happened. I know. There was such an element of girl power that I really felt throughout. I loved
03:35
when she stood up to the head of security and she was like, I know what I'm doing here. This is
03:40
my thing. And I'm curious for you, in real life, there are so many lead male detectives. There's
03:47
movies like Knives Out, like you mentioned the Agatha Christie series with Murder on the Nile. What was it
03:53
like for you to be able to take on this sort of male dominant role that a female is now stepping
04:01
into to get to be that type of detective? Yeah, super lucky. I feel really lucky. I mean,
04:06
again, that's why I'm so drawn to these characters. And I always want to carve out the time to play
04:10
this character, Miranda specifically, because she is a bit of a rarity. And, you know, unless you're
04:18
like for strong female, like drama driven pieces, you either have to go like really gritty
04:23
and modern or like, you know, you don't always get this type of a character. And it is incredibly
04:29
fun to play. And I know that it would usually go to a man. And and so it's it is it's exciting
04:37
to be able to play her. She is. And you're right. I think the evolution of her figuring out little
04:42
by little that she belongs in this place and that she can do it and that she takes control
04:46
of the situation is cool. So by the next one, we can see her be even stronger and more, you know,
04:52
more convinced of what she's doing. Although she does have this sort of aloof quality where she
04:57
somehow seems to bumble into things without quite realizing it. But I think that's another nice thing
05:02
about her character, too, that I want to keep like, you know, that she's, you know, got that kind of
05:07
she uses. Yeah, she's totally using that to her advantage. I love it. I also love the period piece
05:14
aspect of it. And I would be remiss not to ask about the fashion and the style and getting to
05:19
really have those like sharper outfits that give a little more of that androgynous masculine flair.
05:27
But then she has her little accessories and stuff like that. And everybody on the cast
05:31
has a really cool style. Oh, I guess. What was it like being able to really step in back in time?
05:38
Yeah, it was great. I love anything period. And I love all vintage and all real period pieces.
05:43
And it was important that she as a detective, like it's singular in her role that you can kind
05:49
of get away with the pantsuits and stuff and that kind of vibe and really feed into the Agatha
05:54
Christie vibe of it all, even though it's not an Agatha Christie, obviously. But being on the Nile
05:59
and being in that weather and actually being out doing these things, you realize she does have to
06:04
sort of have more of an edge to her and kind of dress like that. It's important to the character.
06:08
Um, she, but yeah, it's so cool to see the other girls in these like beautiful dresses and delicate,
06:15
you know, beautiful dresses as well. So it's fun for all of us.
06:19
I know. I love time period pieces like that for, I really loved, as I've been saying,
06:25
the element of that, like female empowerment. What do you hope that maybe younger girls take away
06:31
from getting to watch these? Cause I know myself growing up, I loved mysteries.
06:35
I loved Harriet the spy. I loved all of the different shows where I could watch a female
06:41
detective. So what does that, you know, what do you think that young girls could learn from it?
06:46
Well, hopefully they can see a woman in a strong position and that it'll be exciting for them.
06:51
I agree. Things like Harriet the spy were so fun when we were young and it's fun to get to see
06:56
characters like that. So then you can start thinking like that, that like I can be in an
07:00
authoritative position and, and, um, yeah, it's exciting. I like, I like strong female
07:05
characters too. So you're right. It's, it's, it's a nice thing to get to play.
07:09
Me too. It's so fun. Um, my style director is a huge fan. So I was telling her she absolutely
07:14
has to watch this. She was talking about Marissa's fashion on the OC. And she was like,
07:20
is there anything that she has an all time favorite outfit from the OC that she remembers?
07:26
Or is there like any pieces that you kept when you were on set from the OC?
07:30
Yeah, yeah, yeah, I did. I think we might all agree that Marissa's biggest, uh, you know,
07:38
claim to fame is the amount of Chanel she had and how like Carl was giving us actual Chanel and really
07:44
beautiful pieces at the time. So yes, I have that stuff. And like the main one is that dress that
07:50
she wears at, I think it's the Christmas party, which was like, it came straight off the runway.
07:55
It's like a brown with cream, like rough, like it was such a beautiful dress. And I remember when
08:00
it showed up from Paris, like we were just like floored and I was like, wow, I can't believe that's
08:05
really here. So, I mean, a lot of those things, like the, her bags and that dress in particular.
08:12
And then I don't know, there's some other iconic 2000 stuff that I don't think we'd wear now,
08:17
but like, you know, that's just very funny to look back on.
08:21
But, um, it's all starting to come back though. I love Gen Z's nostalgia for that.
08:26
Being in my mid thirties, I'm like, I love that. Please bring it back.
08:30
Yeah. I mean, yeah. If you love it, you love it. Like go for it. I don't think we need the like 20
08:35
belts, but like, yeah, the rest of it's quite fun. Yeah.
08:38
That's fair.
08:39
Sometimes you just want to be in a tube top.
08:41
I know. I know. Okay. We can get our own modern age thirties style pantsuit. We can channel our own
08:48
Miranda. Um, I don't have much time left with you. I just want one more quick question for you.
08:52
Everybody's raving about Adam Brody's hot rabbi. Do you have any reaction to his new series and
08:58
people? I think it's so funny to see like the Chris Mika storyline and the OC and now he's doing
09:05
this hot rabbi. So I haven't seen the new season. I saw most of the first season, but yes, I think
09:12
it's the perfect role for him. I mean, he was born to play this role. It's perfect. And I totally get
09:18
everybody's obsession with it. Um, I can't wait to see the new season when I'm not working and, uh,
09:22
it just came out, right? Like it did. Yeah. Like maybe a week or so. And of course it's like
09:26
resurging the love for the hot rabbi. He's probably like, okay, I'm sick of being, hearing people call
09:32
me that, but it's so funny.
09:34
That's funny. I mean, more power to him. He is perfect for that role. And, uh, I can't wait. I can't wait to
09:40
run into him and tell him how much I love it. Cause it is, it is great for him. It's the perfect
09:44
combination. It must feel like, you know, like a brother sister situation when you're like, oh my
09:49
gosh, that was so long ago that we're doing the OC and now people are bringing back stuff about the
09:54
hot rabbi. But for this movie, we're super excited for you and we appreciate the time. I loved it. I've
10:00
been telling everybody to watch it because I'm like, you're never going to believe who did it. I can't
10:03
believe the ambassador and all that. I'm like, wait, what? So good. Okay, great. Love it.
10:10
Thank you. Thank you so much. Have a great rest of your day.
