So, here I am with Mr. Beer and Mrs. Salt, and I know that's not their real names, but I am honestly amazed.
00:08
This is my favourite award. Local food and drink, I think it's so important.
00:13
Please tell me, honestly, your name seems to be everywhere, the Salt Company seems to be everywhere.
00:17
Tell us how much this means to you, this award.
00:20
It means so much. I was just saying to Ollie, I'm just really blown away.
00:24
I absolutely genuinely love what I do, and people love it too, and it's just snowballed from there, really.
00:30
So, yeah, I'm just going to keep on doing it, and there's loads more to come next year.
00:33
Lots of exciting things.
00:34
And the annoying thing here is, I've got a limited time of how much I can ask you,
00:37
because I'd love to delve into how it started and all that, but to me, salt is salt,
00:42
and a lot of people think that, but it's way more than that, isn't it?
00:45
Give us a little glimpse into what you guys do.
00:47
It's a lot there. Yeah, salt is everywhere, literally, and that's kind of how it started,
00:51
literally hauling buckets of salt water back from our house across the road in lockdown,
00:55
and we've just refined that process since then, and now it's grown into a bigger business
00:59
that's stocked in Selfridges in the UK and all the amazing food halls here on the Isle of Man too.
01:04
So, yeah, it's an essential element in everyone's cooking.
01:08
Everybody should have salt car on their shelves.
01:10
And I think the Isle of Man, not just you, even though you should be super proud,
01:13
the award is amazing, but I think not just you, but the people from the Isle of Man
01:17
are proud when they see that your things are in Selfridges, things like that.
01:21
It's almost like a heartwarming feeling, I think, for the Manx community to see a brand like that
01:27
started on the Isle of Man. But I do have to ask Ollie a question.
01:30
And I think Ollie's been trying to ignore me. No, honestly, he hasn't.
01:33
But Ollie, tell me, it's a massive deal for a company, I think, to sponsor an award like this.
01:40
And I don't think that people appreciate it enough.
01:41
To sponsor an award, I think, is showing.
01:44
Because the mad thing is, it's not about just being friends and all this.
01:47
It's about competitors sometimes are giving competitors an award.
01:51
Why do Oakles get involved? Why do Herod and Brealey get involved?
01:57
Obviously, Oakles celebrated its 175th year this year.
02:00
So we wanted to celebrate the year with a nod towards local food and drink producers.
02:11
Obviously, hospitality is absolutely key.
02:13
But the food and drink producers have been having a tough time with it.
02:16
The last few years.
02:17
So we've done a number of collaborations.
02:22
The guys at Fire Island, we did the chili sauce.
02:25
We've done smoked salmon with Robinson's.
02:28
There's a cheese coming soon.
02:30
We've not done anything with Helen yet.
02:31
But I'm sure we can.
02:34
Sea salt beer.
02:34
I'm getting excited.
02:35
I hope you were getting excited.
02:36
I'm getting excited.
02:37
I'm getting excited.
02:38
I'm sure we can do something.
02:39
But no, this is massively sort of important.
02:43
And I mean, separately, sort of, Helen and I have known each other for a few years.
02:48
We sort of sit on the sort of a government sort of group or government sort of back group
02:51
to sort of help local food and drink producers grow and see opportunity.
02:57
So yeah, massively sort of proud and happy for...
03:00
You've not had to pretend to like each other.
03:02
You actually like each other.
03:02
That's amazing.
03:03
That's amazing.
03:04
It's a great product.
03:05
And the only thing is, you've got to pretend to like me.
03:07
But no, the point is here, I would say a massive corporation, but a lovely Isle of Man
03:15
business supporting another lovely Isle of Man business.
03:17
And final word.
03:19
I want one word from both of you.
03:21
You, what it means to win this award.
03:25
Everything.
03:26
Seasoning.
03:28
I love it.
03:29
And honestly, I really want to just be like, give us an exclusive.
