Cebu to host fundraising concert for Tino victims

Communities battered by Typhoon Tino will be at the heart of a fundraising show on Nov. 25, 2025, as organizers mount the Rebuild Cebu Unity Concert to support recovery and rebuilding efforts across affected areas. Headlining the event is Big Mountain, the American reggae band led by vocalist Joaquin McWhinney and formed in 1986 in San Diego, California. Also joining the lineup are Rootikal Foundation, Selah Dub Warriors, Junior Kilat Budoy, Powerspoonz, Rootsman Project, and Uncle Skank. Organizers said proceeds from the concert would be directed to communities hardest hit by Tino, with the goal of providing immediate aid and long-term rebuilding support.

00:00Some of the pain from the people of the school.
00:05Before we start, I want to thank a few people who helped make this possible.
00:12Mr. Big Mom here, Pino.
00:17This is his idea. I want to thank you Pino for being a generous man.
00:23And I want to thank all the people who will be playing at the concert.
00:31We have Pumple's Tank, Rootsman Project, Ruthie Kell Foundation, Selah Dove Warriors, and...
00:42But at any rate, we will be playing...
00:48They will all be playing here on the 25th.
00:54We'll start at 6pm. We'll start letting people in at 6pm.
00:58The concert will probably start shortly thereafter.
01:03We'll open up the floor to questions.
01:07I don't want to spoil Phillip's story.
01:11And I really appreciate you giving me the credit.
01:15But this all sort of started a conversation.
01:18Me and Selah Dove Warriors and Sir Jesse Cabozzo, we have a group on Facebook Messenger.
01:26And we communicate...
01:31Always weekly, bi-weekly now.
01:34We're always sending messages through that.
01:36If somebody has a birthday or something.
01:40So...
01:42And of course...
01:44After the typhoon, we started communicating and making sure that it was alright.
01:49And then...
01:51It was actually Sir Jesse that first came up with the idea of...
01:55Sir Jesse Cabozzo of BMC Productions.
01:58First came up with the idea of actually having an event.
02:01He's...
02:02He's our...
02:04What can you say?
02:05He's...
02:07He's an elder.
02:08We all look up to him as a mentor in his business.
02:12He's been doing it for such a long time.
02:14He has amazing knowledge.
02:17So that's...
02:19You know, that's how it really came together.
02:23I love playing with these guys.
02:26It's been a couple years.
02:27Last time...
02:30I was here...
02:32It was with the band Big Mountain.
02:34It was...
02:35It was right here on this stage.
02:37And...
02:39The Sila Dumb Warriors opened up.
02:41Together...
02:43As...
02:45The Sila Dumb Warriors...
02:47We toured all over the Philippines.
02:48We did it.
02:49We did it.
02:50We did it.
02:51We did it now.
02:52We did it.
02:53We did it.
02:54We did it late there.
02:55Right?
02:56We did it a million times.
02:57So...
02:59I love these guys.

03:34And...
03:35They give me so many memories.
03:36And the Filipino people...
03:37That they never beat my own music.
03:39So...
03:40When it does really, really well...
03:41I can blame them.
03:42If it does really badly...
03:43Blame me.
03:48But...
03:49This was Kino's idea.
