Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on celebrating his first year in charge against Everton on Monday
Carrington, Manchester, UK
Transcript
00:00and it's fit in the moment, so I think it's an option.
00:04I know you've been asked about anniversaries a lot recently,
00:07but on Monday it's a year since your first game.
00:09What do you remember about the build-ups, that Ipswich game,
00:11obviously coming to a new country, trying to get the players
00:13to learn a new way of playing in two or three days?
00:15It must have been very hectic.
00:17Yeah, it was everything really fast.
00:22The first thinking was like the first game,
00:25the environment is completely different from Premier League,
00:28and I was excited with that.
00:30Right away I knew that we will struggle in some things,
00:33but it was that feeling of, yes, it's the best league in the world,
00:39it's maybe the best club in the world,
00:41but at the same time it's a big job and it's going to require a lot of work.
00:47When you look back at what you saw on the pitch at Portman Road a year ago
00:50compared to what you would expect to see at Old Trafford on Monday,
00:54there must be massive differences in how the team are playing, the way they behave.
00:59Yeah, I think we are showing that.
01:01But the important thing is that it doesn't matter what we did in the recent games.
01:11We cannot forget that we start in that point, we suffer a lot last year,
01:17so we have to take that in account and to play every game like it is the last one or the first one.
01:24But of course, if you ask me, I expect a team with more control, more dominant,
01:30playing a better football and the most important thing, more competitive in every way.
