Manchester United boss Ruben Amorim on criticism of the club from former United players as they prepare to face Sunderland
Carrington, Manchester, UK
Transcript
00:00Some former players have been quite heavy on their criticism this week. Wayne Rooney
00:03saying this is not Manchester United, the culture is not there. Gary Neville has been
00:08similarly criticising the system. Can that be quite hard to listen to? How do you filter
00:13all of that?
00:14It's normal and you cannot run away from the results and then you have a baggage
00:21from the last season. But for the last season for me it doesn't matter. In relation to the
00:25system, we already spoke about that. We had six games this season and we lost three.
00:34And then we have to look to the games that we lost. If you lost against Arsenal because
00:39of the system, it's your job to make the opinion. Did we lost? When you look at the game against
00:46City was the first thing that you think when the game starts is the system. I think you
00:51don't think about the system in that moment. And Brentford. I don't look the way we concede
00:58goals, the way we create chances. If there is nothing to do with the system, that is my
01:03opinion. And I'm not saying that this team would play better in the different system or
01:08not. That is not my point. My point is, if I look at the games that we didn't win, the
01:14most important thing when I watch the game is not we lost because of the system. That
01:19is my opinion. Then people have different opinions. That's okay.
