00:00But I have to say that I would like to congratulate the Italian government for
00:05this very important initiative in collaboration with the OECI. I think that
00:11we are all aware that violence against women is raising and we need to create
00:18awareness because it is not an issue which is concerning only women. It's all
00:25of us because it is an attempt to all security. It is life that has broken and
00:32before we end this interview a woman somewhere in the world will be killed
00:38only because she is a woman. So we need to change mindset. We need to educate
00:45women, boys and girls at the very early stage because most of the time the
00:53problem is a stereotype and we all know we know that when women are killed most of
01:01the time it's by someone she was trusted someone who once said I love you and so
01:09this is a problem which is really touching or intimate family or society and or
01:19democracy. So at the European level we are taking ground breaking directive that
01:25has been adopted during the last mandate because femicide is most of the time the
01:32end of a process. Violence against women doesn't start with the femicide. It's end
01:39with the femicide. So we have to address economic dependencies, stereotypes, online violence,
01:46harassment and so on. So that's why we are really involved, committed and it is the first
01:55items, the first topic in our road map for women's rights that has been adopted last March
02:02and which will pave the way for our next strategy March 2026.
