00:06A serie de viral groc-generated posts shared on X in French has sparked outrage,
00:12giving weight to claims typically peddled by holocaustos deniers.
00:16Under a post by a holocaustos denier and neo-Nazi,
00:19users ask the AI chatbot a series of questions about discredited holocaustos claims.
00:24One account that peddles anti-Semitic claims and praises Hitler asked groc if gas chambers were
00:30originally built as disinfection facilities to tackle infectious diseases.
00:35Groc confirmed this statement, alleging that Auschwitz crematoria plans
00:38reveal that ventilation systems were built for disinfection rather than for mass executions.
00:43A spokesperson for the Auschwitz memorial told The Cube that claims that the crematoria and
00:48gas chambers were designed for disinfection are a long-standing trope of holocaust denial.
00:53An overwhelming body of evidence supports the fact that gas chambers were purposefully built
00:58to carry out the mass murder of Jews and other prisoners interned at Auschwitz using Zyklon B.
01:04Taking to X, the Auschwitz memorial called out groc,
01:07pointing out that the bot could be in breach of the regulations that govern the social media platform.
01:12This is not the first time that groc has spread anti-Semitic narratives or contributed to holocaust
01:16denial. For instance, in May, the bot made a controversial response to a question about the number of Jews
01:22killed by Nazis during World War II. While groc said that six million Jews were
01:27murdered from 1941 to 1945, it's said that it was sceptical because the figures could have been
01:32manipulated for political narratives. Elon Musk, X's owner, blamed groc's statement on a programming
01:39error. Musk has also cautioned that groc can be manipulated by users due to its eagerness to answer
01:45questions. Following the latest incident, French authorities have expanded a probe investigating
01:50X launched in July to incorporate groc's latest holocaust denying comments.
