00:00Taiwan tech giant Foxconn debuts its new Model A electric vehicle, the latest entry for the
00:12EV market newcomer. It's part of the biggest day of the year for the world's largest electronics
00:17maker, also known as Hon Hai. Primarily known for manufacturing Apple's iPhone,
00:21the company is pulling out all the stops to show that it's much more than a phone factory.
00:26Many people still think Foxconn is only a system assembler. Today I want to show you
00:37why that picture is incomplete. Foxconn announced numerous new partnerships and products,
00:43including a new Taiwan Supercomputing Center that will come online next year. And it revealed new
00:49partnerships, like with ChadGPT maker OpenAI, which is expanding its U.S. data center operations,
00:54as mentioned in a video message from its CEO.
00:58Demand for critical components in AI infrastructure is already far outpacing supply,
01:02and we expect that will only continue over the coming years. This agreement is about strengthening
01:07the supply chains to meet the existing and future needs across the AI industry.
01:12Foxconn's expansion has been driven by its key role in the AI supply chain. While phones remain a major
01:18contributor of revenue, AI servers and cloud products have overtaken them as Foxconn's biggest
01:23moneymaker. The company says it has cornered about 40% of global market share, becoming one of the
01:29world's largest AI server suppliers. That extra income has allowed it to invest in new areas like
01:35humanoid robotics. Foxconn employs hundreds of thousands worldwide, but these are their new
01:41high-tech recruits. They're co-designed with U.S. chip giant NVIDIA, and while they may not be ready
01:46to do my job yet, the company says they'll be deployed on its U.S. assembly lines as soon as
01:52next year. Taking questions from the media, Foxconn's CEO says the firm's automation plans in
01:58the U.S. are more about the supply of labor than its cost. With this year's event, Foxconn may be coming
02:20out of the shadows of the global tech industry, where you just may see them on your city streets.
