00:00This morning, President Trump accused six Democratic lawmakers of seditious behavior punishable by death.
00:07Just to be clear, does the President want to execute members of Congress?
00:11No. Let's be clear about what the President is responding to,
00:16because many in this room want to talk about the President's response,
00:19but not what brought the President to responding in this way.
00:23You have sitting members of the United States Congress who conspired together to orchestrate a video
00:32message to members of the United States military, to active duty service members,
00:37to members of the national security apparatus, encouraging them to defy the President's lawful orders.
00:45The sanctity of our military rests on the chain of command, and if that chain of command is broken,
00:51it can lead to people getting killed, it can lead to chaos,
00:55and that's what these members of Congress, who swore an oath to abide by the Constitution,
01:01are essentially encouraging.
01:02We have 1.3 active duty service members in this country,
01:06and if they hear this radical message from sitting members of Congress,
01:11that could inspire chaos, and it could incite violence, and it certainly could disrupt the chain of command.
01:17These three members of Congress, I will also add, knew exactly what they were doing.
01:20You look at Alyssa Slotkin, she's a former member of the CIA.
01:24Mark Kelly was a captain in the U.S. Navy.
01:27Maggie Goodlender was a naval officer, and notably, she is also the wife of Joe Biden's national security former advisor, Jake Sullivan.
01:36And so these members knew what they were doing.
01:38They were leading into their credentials as former members of our military, as veterans,
01:43as former members of the national security apparatus,
01:46to signal to people serving under this commander-in-chief, Donald Trump,
01:50that you can defy him, and you can betray your oath of office.
01:54That is a very, very dangerous message, and it perhaps is punishable by law.
02:00I'm not a lawyer.
02:01I'll leave that to the Department of Justice and the Department of War to decide.
02:04But the president has frequently, but Caroline, can I just follow up?
02:07The president, and the vice president, for that matter,
02:09have accused the other side of encouraging political violence.
02:13Isn't that exactly what the president is doing when he says that members of Congress should be killed?
02:18Why aren't you talking about what these members of Congress are doing to encourage and incite violence?
02:23They are literally saying to 1.3 million active-duty service members
02:27not to defy the chain of command, not to follow lawful orders.
02:33Actually, they said that you can refuse an illegal order, which is illegal to vote military enough.
02:36But they're suggesting, Nancy, that the president has given illegal orders, which he has not.
02:43Every single order that is given to this United States military by this commander-in-chief
02:47and through this chain of command, through the secretary of war, is lawful.
02:51And the courts have proven that.
02:53This administration has an unparalleled record at the Supreme Court
02:57because we are following the laws.
02:59We don't defy court orders.
03:01We do things by the books.
03:03And to suggest and encourage that active-duty service members defy the chain of command
03:08is a very dangerous thing for sitting members of Congress to do.
03:12And they should be held accountable.
03:13And that's what the president wants to see.
03:21And that's what the president wants to see.
03:23And that's what the president wants to see.
03:24And that's what the president wants to see.
03:25And that's what the president wants to see.
03:26And that's what the president wants to see.
03:27And that's what the president wants to see.
03:28And that's what the president wants to see.
03:29And that's what the president wants to see.
03:30And that's what the president wants to see.
03:31And that's what the president wants to see.
03:32And that's what the president wants to see.
03:33And that's what the president wants to see.
03:34And that's what the president wants to see.
03:35And that's what the president wants to see.
03:36And that's what the president wants to see.
03:37And that's what the president wants to see.
03:38And that's what the president wants to see.
03:39And that's what the president wants to see.
