00:00Kerry Washington says Donald Trump's conviction has altered her view on the justice system.
00:05Ahead of the release of season two of Unprisoned on July 17th, Washington opened up about the ways
00:10that felons may be seen differently now that Trump has been convicted of 34 counts of falsifying
00:14business records, but is still able to run for president. She told the publication Bustle,
00:19everything has changed in terms of how I feel about the so-called justice system.
00:23We're in such an interesting moment when it comes to the question of what is a felon?
00:26I love what people have been sharing on social media, saying that if a person who is a convicted
00:31felon can still run for president, then we should be removing that box from job applications.
00:35The actress and producer also said that if a felon can run for president,
00:38she thinks they should be able to vote. She continued, that's huge, huge. The irony is that
00:44Governor Ron DeSantis has been trying to make it impossible in Trump's home state. A bill was
00:49passed in Florida to allow formerly incarcerated folks to vote, and DeSantis has been trying to
00:53do everything he can to undercut that. Donald Trump may not be able to vote in his home state.
