00:00In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro offered a balance of the base assemblies ahead of the
00:13Constituent Congress of the Working Class where he highlighted the workers' leading role in the
00:18construction of the nation. The Honduran Armed Forces began distributing material for the
00:26November 30th general elections in the country. And Mexico celebrates the 115th anniversary of the start of the
00:37Mexican Revolution with a grand civil military parade in the capital city.
00:41Hello and welcome to From the South. I'm Alejandra Garcia from Telesource Studios in
00:49Havana, Cuba. We'll begin with Denise.
01:04In Venezuela, President Nicolás Maduro offered a balance of the base assemblies ahead of the
01:09Constituent Congress of the Working Class where he highlighted the workers' leading role in the
01:14construction of the nation. During the balance session, the head of state, Nicolás Maduro,
01:19emphasized that more than 10,000 base assemblies of the labor movement have been held and more than
01:2630,000 delegates have been elected. Furthermore, the president emphasized the need to consolidate
01:32the political, military and organizational power of the movement with the aim of strengthening its
01:38capacity for action and national leadership. On the other hand, the head of state also highlighted
01:44that the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean, ECLAG, projects an economic growth
01:49of 6% of Venezuela's GDP, which reaffirms the sovereignty and strength of the country's real
01:55economy despite the blockade and aggression by the U.S. government.
01:59It creates solutions, it creates proposals, and it is a vital force in the new economy of the 13 engines
02:13that the country is driving forward. This year, Oxford Economics and CELIC are projecting economic growth of
02:256% of the country's real gross domestic product. Economists call it gross domestic product.
02:32Not because it is gross, the product, but because it is internal to the global economy. When one speaks of the concept of gross domestic product, one is speaking of the entire economy.
02:49Last year, it grew by 9%. We have had 18 consecutive quarters, 18 consecutive quarters of growth.
03:04The Venezuelan president also announced that the Bolivarian nation has increased its gas production
03:10and affirmed that the first export of that industry to Colombia is ready.
03:14To increase gas production. We are making so much progress in the production of gas that the first export to Colombia is ready,
03:26it's at the border waiting for some technical issues to be solved, so that Venezuela can begin selling gas to Colombia.
03:33Keep that secret for me too.
03:37The gas is ready at the border to be sent to Colombia.
03:40Some technical and economic elements are still needed, and then the gas will be ready to go.
03:46That will be our first shipment of gas, and then we won't stop because Colombia and Venezuela must be united,
03:52increasingly united in an increasingly integrated and prosperous economy.
03:56With a growing trade, as we already have with our growing binational investments,
04:04Venezuela and Colombia must be united in Bolivar's idea of emancipation, freedom, peace,
04:10and mutual respect between governments and peoples.
04:14And we stay in Venezuela.
04:17The executive vice president, Delcy Rodriguez, reaffirmed her government's stance on national sovereignty.
04:23She emphasized that political power resides in the people and will not be handed over.
04:29The vice president assured that the Venezuelan people would not surrender their freedom or sovereignty
04:33in the face of the mobilization of U.S. warships in the Caribbean.
04:37Rodriguez also highlighted that the country is experiencing a historical uprising,
04:41and that the Venezuelan people will not yield to any foreign pressure or intimidation.
04:47In this regard, she prized the courage of President Nicolás Maduro
04:50and the cohesion of the people in defending the dignity and historical legacy of the nation.
04:56And live today, Venezuela, I am not talking about dangerous times, no,
05:08I am talking about times of historical decision, of historical insurgents,
05:13so that they know that this people will not surrender.
05:15That this people cannot be blackmailed, that this people cannot be extorted,
05:27and that President Nicolás Maduro has taught lessons from his modesty, from his humility,
05:32but from his deep courage, he has taught us that no one here will surrender,
05:43that we are a people united in solidarity, defending our historical dignity,
05:48defending our morals, defending Bolivar, fighting to leave us an independent homeland.
05:53Venezuela's vice president, Delsi Rodriguez, also emphasized that the current imposition of the Monroe Doctrine,
06:02exemplified by the U.S. military intervention in Latin American country,
06:06highlights its historical contradiction.
06:12What has been since then is the contradiction with the Monroe Doctrine,
06:16but it is what is in force at this moment,
06:18to try to impose that we are their playing field,
06:20that we are the playing field of the United States where they can do as they please?
06:32I don't know if you saw any news yesterday that I found laughable,
06:36but that evidences this historical contradiction,
06:38where the United States Department of War puts up signs on a beach in Mexico,
06:42saying that it is prohibited to swim at the beach because it is a U.S. Department of War space in Mexico.
06:56That is the concept, the Monroe Doctrine, that they are trying to impose again by force.
07:01The Bolivarian National Armed Forces began the second phase of the electoral operation
07:09in preparation for the fourth public consultation to guarantee and protect the process.
07:14The authorities of the regions and strategic zones of integral defense initiated the deployment
07:20in a civic, military and police union to guarantee the consultation process.
07:26The deployment is in defense of the political right of citizens in accordance with
07:31and respecting the constitution so that they may choose their projects
07:36in the fourth public consultation to address the needs of the communes.
07:40The commander of the Eastern Strategic Region of Integral Defense, Major General Juan Zulbaran,
07:46affirmed that they are prepared to guarantee suffrage during the consultation.
07:50The operation consists of three well-defined phases, the pre-election, the election day,
08:03and the post-election. At this time, with this deployment underway, we are beginning the second phase,
08:10known as the election day phase, which includes five main events, deployment of election materials,
08:16taking over voting centers, setting up polling stations, voting, and withdrawal.
08:22We are prepared and ready to fulfill our mission, in which we will guarantee the voting rights of
08:27community members over the age of 15, as the highest expression of sovereignty and democracy
08:33during the exercise of free universal, direct, and secret voting.
08:37We stay in Venezuela. The authority is also inaugurated Thursday in the state of Porto U.S.
08:46at the Technical Tactical Training Center for Risk and Disaster Management and Civil Protection.
08:51The ceremony was presided over by the Nation's Ministry of Interior, Justice and Peace,
08:56de Estado Cabello, in the context of the 24th anniversary of the creation of the National Directorate
09:03for Civil Protection and Disaster Management. Cabello highlighted that after their training,
09:09the cadets will be incorporated into the National Peace Squadron structure.
09:13He also urged the creation of local contingency plans for possible emergencies
09:18through the deployment and development of a rescue map,
09:22using information provided by the local residents of each place.
09:25Permanent guardians of the homeland. Friends of our people.
09:37This is one of the battles we want to fight, brother governor.
09:40The people need to feel that when they see a guard officer, when they see a police officer,
09:44when they see a firefighter or a civil protection official, they know that they are their friends,
09:49that they are the people, that when they are are driving by and see them,
09:52they should feel that they are the people who care for them, who protect them, who help them.
09:57And that is what the role of a public official, of a public servant, should be,
10:01because otherwise, it makes no sense to be a servant.
10:04We must constantly honor the firefighters and civil protection officials,
10:08because they are subject, every day of their lives to various situations.
10:13Yesterday there was a fire in the east at the Petrochirinho refinery,
10:17and Odi called me, and told me they were waiting for the protocol,
10:20and as soon as they have the go-ahead, they will go in and do what they have to do.
10:27And from Iran, student movements mobilized and thirsty in support of Venezuela
10:32in the face of the ongoing aggressions perpetrated against it by the government of the United States,
10:37under the slogan, Hands of Venezuela,
10:40the demonstration called by the Islamic Association of Students of the University of Tehran,
10:46condemned Washington's policies against Caracas.
10:48This way, students mobilized in the capital, Tehran,
10:52in front of the Swiss Embassy and the U.S. Interest Section.
10:55The rally joins the demonstrations of support for Venezuela,
10:59coming from the Persian nation,
11:01as the country's top authorities have repeatedly condemned
11:03the U.S. military deployment in Caribbean waters,
11:07warned about its dangerous repercussions for international peace and security,
11:12and called for respecting Venezuela's national sovereignty and territorial integrity.
11:16Also, groups of activists in the United States held a day of action
11:25in front of the State Department's office in New York
11:27to demand that the Trump administration take its hands off Venezuela.
11:32The protesters expressed their solidarity with the South American country
11:35and rejected the militarization of U.S. cities,
11:39Washington's anti-immigrant policies,
11:41and discrimination against vulnerable communities.

13:27from where they departed for the monument to the revolution.
13:31November 20th, let's recall, is one of the most significant civic dates
13:36for all that transformed the political, economic,
13:38and social structures of the Aztec country.
13:41President Claudia Sheinbaum led the event
13:43and celebrated the date by recalling the country's achievements.
13:51Mexico is experiencing a moment that once seemed impossible.
13:57Today, power is no longer used to subdue, but to serve.
14:01There are no longer impositions, or privileges.
14:11There is a constitution, there is democracy,
14:14and there is a government that listens, respects, and responds to its people.
14:22Today, freedoms are not only granted from above,
14:27they are exercised from below, from every neighborhood,
14:30from every community, from every voice that speaks with dignity.
14:37Mexican President Claudia Sheinbaum also emphasized on Thursday
14:41that today Mexico is a land of freedom and equality without special privileges.
14:46because in Mexico no one is silenced anymore,
14:54no one is persecuted for thinking differently,
14:57and that is an achievement of the people in Mexico today.
15:01The government is no longer a space reserved for a few,
15:11it is no longer a club for the privileged.
15:14Today it represents everyone and everyone who studies,
15:18who works, merchants,
15:19young people,
15:26indigenous people,
15:28women,
15:28but above all,
15:30it represents those who have less,
15:32the humble,
15:32so that they can achieve their well-being.
15:37Now we go to Argentina.

18:05The Palestinian resistance movement Hamas
18:08has denounced Israel's violation of the ceasefire
18:11following the massacres in Gaza and Hanjunis.
18:14Hamas condemned the massacre perpetrated
18:16by the Israeli occupation in the cities of Gaza and Hanjunis,
18:20which resulted in the assassination of 33 Palestinians,
18:23including 12 children and 8 women.
18:26In this regard,
18:27the resistance movement held the Zionist entity responsible
18:30for violating the ceasefire agreement
18:32by killing and injuring civilians.
18:34Hamas described the massacre as a dangerous escalation
18:37with which the Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu
18:41seeks to resume the genocide against the Palestinian people,
18:45in addition to mentioning the ongoing policy
18:47of demolition and destruction of homes,
18:50as well as the closure of the Rafab border crossing.
18:53The road map project promoted by Brazil against fossil fuels
19:13gained support at COP30 after President Luis Ignacio Lula da Silva's return to the summit.
19:18The plan could become one of the concrete actions of this edition
19:22of the world's most important climate conference,
19:25which is why it was included in the draft final decision of COP30.
19:30In the final draft,
19:31it also addressed the elimination of fossil fuel subsidies,
19:35urging countries to work together to phase out inefficient subsidies
19:38that do not address energy poverty or just transitions.
19:43With the return of President Lula da Silva to Belém,
19:46COP30 enters its final stretch,
19:49and it is hoped that with the President's political skills,
19:52the program will be finally approved.
19:54Now we go to Cuba.
20:01The authorities carried out an inspection of the settlements
20:03affected in Santiago de Cuba after the passage of Hurricane Melissa.
20:08The provincial authorities, accompanied by Julio César García,
20:11a member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba,
20:14reached the localities of Cayo Granma and Caracoles.
20:18The main objective of the visit was to interact directly with the residents
20:23who were affected after the passage of Melissa
20:26and to learn about their needs.
20:28In the communities, the residents say that despite the situation,
20:32they have remained united and have shown strong solidarity,
20:36helping the most vulnerable neighbors
20:38and contributing to the recovery of the devastated areas.
20:47In this sense, for the fourth consecutive week,
20:50President Miguel Díaz-Canel Bermúdez

21:50viruses transmitted by mosquitoes and sun flights,
21:54which cause intense fever, joint pain,
21:56and in some cases, death.
21:58Minsap officials said that the appearance and spread of the virus
22:02is due to global factors such as climate change,
22:06in addition to the high level of urbanization
22:08that existed both worldwide and in Cuba.
22:11They also emphasized that they are following the working model
22:15of the COVID-19 pandemic,
