00:01Welcome to the True Crime and Mystery Lounge. Today we talk about an urban myth that might be a reality after all. Today we talk about the Mossman.
00:16Our story goes back to 1966 in Point Pleasant, West Virginia, when this mystery creature was seen by locals and was described to be about 7 foot tall.
00:34He can stand on his feet like humans and have big glowing red eyes. He got huge wings that he's able to use them to fly.
00:46And he does not fly like most of birds do. He flies in a vertical way, just like when a helicopter takes off.
00:57But the scary part is, people notice that anytime they see the Mossman, bad things always happen right after him, like floods, accidents and its explosions.
01:11But that might be caused by a curse. A curse that have a backstory to it. The curse of Chief Cornstalk.
01:23In the 18th century, the British ruler met with the leader of the Shawnee tribe and he wanted him to give up nearly 100,000 acres of the tribal land.
01:38But of course the tribal chief refused and that resulted in a war between the Shawnee tribe and the British colony for nearly 6 years and ended where now known as Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
01:57The British colony won the war and slaughtered too many of the tribal people and killed the tribal chief Cornstalk.
02:09According to the story before the death of the tribal chief, he gassed his pill for the great spirit to destroy the new people of the region.
02:20The first sighting of the moss man goes back exactly to November 12, 1966 when two great leaders reported seeing what looked like a flying human with huge wings going between trees while working in a cemetery near Point Pleasant, West Virginia.
02:45After that, a number of sightings were reported about the moss man when Roger and Linda Scarberry and Stephen Mary Mallet reported to the police in November 15, 1966 about seeing a flying creature with a wingspan of 10 foot and glowing red eyes that had been near a military facility.
03:14Another incident reported by two firefighters describing what they saw as a huge bird with red glowing eyes.
03:21Around the same time when contractor, Noah Partridge told district police chief George Johnson that he noticed a strange body in a field near his house.
03:28So he got curious and he went to see what was it and he was surprised by the body of a huge man with glowing red eyes.
03:35that flew away as soon as he directed the flashlight on him.
03:42But one particular incident was linked to the moss man when the silver bridge called George Johnson.
03:49collapsed on December 15, 1967 that resulted in December 15, 1967 that resulted in the death of 46 years.
03:56He was so curious and he went to see what was it and he was surprised by the body of a huge man with glowing red eyes that flew away as soon as he directed the flashlight on him.
04:04But one particular incident was linked to the moss man when the silver bridge collapsed on December 15, 1967 that resulted in the death of 46 people.
04:19Investigations proved that the incident was caused by an engineering mistake and poor maintenance.
04:32But several witnesses reported to the police that the moss man was above the bridge just before it collapsed.
04:40Even more, someone even attached a picture to confirm the allegations.
04:47After that, there were multiple people from all over the world, reporting sightings of the moss man before a major incident happened,
04:57like Chernobyl and the 911 incident.
05:01So what do you think?
05:06Does the moss man really exist and it's a bad almond that shows up in places where bad things about to happen?
05:14Or maybe it's a result of a radiation leak?
05:17Or is it a failed military experiment?
05:21Or is it truly an ancient creature that came back to life by the curse of a troubleshoot?
05:27No matter what nature of this creature is, it's a 12 foot tall Polish statue in downtown Point Pleasant that was made by a local artist in West Virginia,
05:41pretty much assures that the legend of the moss man will never die.
