00:00My neighbor has a fence, and they denied my request for a fence.
00:05But it can't seep on into the grass area.
00:08It's so unreasonable.
00:10I put in a request to my HOA and said,
00:12we can approve a partial fence because your neighbor has one.
00:16I said, perfect, I'll take it.
00:18She's building it for her senior dog's final months.
00:21Because then I can just kind of restrict her movement, right?
00:23Well, because today, moments ago,
00:26I got an email that they were denying my claims.
00:28I gave the same specifications as this fence.
00:32I even hired the guy who made her fence.
00:35Work stopped halfway when the HOA stepped in.
00:37We have post holes dug, but it's denied.
00:40They didn't give me an answer.
00:41Do I just build it and get fined?
00:42Because that's insane.
00:44The same fence, the same height, the same length,
00:48the same contractor, the same aesthetics.
00:51Can they actually deny this?
00:53The HOA was not ready for me.
00:55And the thing about me is I'm going to be a menace.
00:57And needless to say, that's exactly what she did.
01:03I was told by the office worker this morning that the denial reason was because in the bylaws,
01:07it states that there can be no fencing on the property in order to maintain a clean,
01:13uniform aesthetic.
01:15And I say, cool, but my neighbor has a fence.
01:18And she said, well, that's because hers is built up on a platform,
01:21and it doesn't interfere with landscaping.
01:23I want an appointment with the board to appeal because I want these people to look me in my eyeballs
01:28and tell me that based on a rule written back in the 80s,
01:32that my baby cannot have a fence to just sit and be in her yard and in the grass for the remainder of her life.
01:40I sent them a letter, very formally written, pointed all of this out,
01:43and said the only two options here are to either uniformly enforce this and allow me to have a fence
01:48or tell her to take it down.
01:50She's been here 20 years.
01:52She got the HOA on the phone.
01:53She has hers connected to her deck, which is allowed because it adds technically like a private fit,
02:00a privacy fit.
02:01Okay.
02:02That's connected to the deck, so you can be private between you and your neighbor.
02:06So we're not allowing anything that's in the grass section because it will interfere with the lawn care.
02:13Oh, I mean, it won't because you can mow around things, but that's not the point.
02:17I can put in a request to have it coming off my deck.
02:20That's perfect.
02:21That's what we'll do.
02:22Her response left them speechless.
02:24But it can't seep on into the grass area.
02:27But hers is in the grass area.
02:29Hers goes out 15 feet.
02:31We measured.
02:32I'm trying to meet them in the middle, and I'm trying to be reasonable.
02:36And they are being picky.
02:38It's so unreasonable.
02:40I am very logical, and I am asking for a few months of a partial yard for my dog.
02:46I'll take it down when she passes.
02:48Like, it's not an unreasonable request, and I want them to look me in my eyes and tell me why.
02:55That's what I want to hear, and I want to hear something other than it's in the rules.
02:58Now she's joining the HOA to fix things herself.
