00:05One of the most shocking influential figure health updates of the year

00:08was certainly King Charles III's cancer diagnosis,

00:12which has had many royal family enthusiasts worried about him over the last year.

00:18However, in his new book titled The Windsor Legacy on the Monarchy,

00:22a royal author recently revealed that the king reportedly was reduced to tears

00:27upon seeing and hearing the public's reaction to his illness.

00:31Not only did the king himself reveal he had been diagnosed with cancer last February,

00:36but about a month later, after weeks of speculation and concern,

00:40his daughter-in-law, Kate Middleton, revealed she was being treated for a form of cancer as well.

00:46The royal family has clearly been through a lot over the last few years,

00:51including some health issues which have rattled the lives of the House of Windsor.

00:55He's been reduced to tears not by his plight,

00:59but by the thousands of warm letters he has received,

01:02wrote Robert Jobson, a royal expert as reported by the Daily Mail.

01:07Some were cards, clearly made by children and covered in glitter,

01:11or accompanying a get-well gift of smarties.

01:14It's no secret that the dad of two has been one of the more controversial members of the royal family,

01:21which largely stems from his relationships with his late wife, Princess Diana,

01:26and his current wife, Queen Camilla, formerly Camilla Parker Bowles.

01:32However, despite all the backlash he's faced for his scandalous affair with Camilla,

01:37prior to his and Diana's divorce and her tragic passing in 1997,

01:43the royal author noted how the public continued to show their love and support for him over the last year,

01:49sending many gifts and messages encouraging him to be well and stay strong.

01:55Charles was simply overwhelmed to learn that so many cared and wished him well,

02:00wrote the author, despite the backlash from those who adored his late wife Diana.

02:04In addition to taking in all of the public's well wishes and support,

02:09the king is also reportedly taking better care of himself

02:12and doing what he can to stay as healthy as possible,

02:16eating well and getting rest when he can.

02:18He's changed some of the habits that once seemed set in stone,

02:24who added that he was slowing down and listening to his medical team.
