00:00They gave up Devers, yet this coming season will be a year that the Red Sox will pay Trevor Story $25 million.
00:08It's hard for you to tell me that you're a team, and I'm not telling you that they are saying this at this moment in time.
00:15I think we're just responding to that clip that you're talking about.
00:18Jordan Hicks is going to have $12.5 million coming his way this year.
00:21He's effing useless.
00:23Masataka Yoshida is on the books for this coming year for $18.6 million.
00:31That can't happen.
00:32I just gave you $30 million in useless players.
00:35Right.
00:36And so that's why I would tell you, like, the financial flexibility, is it really there?
00:41Is that a team that is put together the right way or spent the right way?
00:45They still can have the team they need to next year, though, without significant impacts to their draft situation or whatever it is.
00:51And to me, that is enough room to work with.
00:54I do think the Jordan Hicks thing, when you save that $12.5 million, it does mean a lot for this year and the following year.
00:59But long term, that number Devers was making of $25.5 million year after year, you don't have to worry about that now.
01:05So to stretch some money onto those years, that's where you should be at this point in time.
01:11Like, we can draw it up where you get those two bats and you trade for a pitcher and you're all around $280 million.
01:16And that's all plausible and people would be penciling them in as one of the main World Series contenders next year.
01:24We'll see you next time.
01:26Bye.
