In Uganda, nel distretto di Namutumba, bambine di appena 9-10 anni sono costrette a vivere l'incubo di matrimoni e gravidanze precoci. Povertà, tradizioni e traffico umano sono alla base di una realtà drammatica che si traduce in una tragedia sanitaria: il cancro cervicale. «Ho visto troppe bambine, troppo giovani, diventare madri. Sono troppo piccole, e già lottano per la vita», racconta Allan Eric Lubiite, dirigente medico senior e responsabile del Centro Sanitario Nsinze, fondato in questo angolo sperduto dell’Uganda. Le bambine sono vittime di un sistema che le riduce a merce, comprate e vendute in cambio di mucche.

00:47I remember I worked on that girl, she was about 11 years and she was delivering through a cesarean section and then her mother was about 24 years.
01:01So meaning I was seeing a grandmother at 24 ushering in a grandchild.
01:07So you would look at this catastrophe of the family and say how do we need to help out such a situation.
01:15When you tell people about early marriages and unsafe sexual practices for these girls, they think it's all about what am I getting today.
