00:00Now as tensions in Eastern Europe continue to escalate, Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with Russian President Vladimir Putin in an attempt to defuse tensions between the two countries.
00:10During the talks, Prime Minister Modi appealed for immediate succession of violence, called for concerted efforts from all sides to return to the path of diplomatic negotiations and dialogue.
00:19During the telephonic conversation, Prime Minister Modi reiterated his long-standing conviction that the differences between Russia and NATO can only be resolved through honest and sincere dialogue.
00:31Earlier, the Indian Foreign Ministry announced that around 15,000 Indians are still stuck in Ukraine.
00:37During the talks, Prime Minister Modi sensitized the Russian President about India's concerns regarding the safety of the Indian citizens in Ukraine, especially students.
00:45He also conveyed that New Delhi attaches the highest priority to their safe exit and return to India.
00:53India is currently focusing on evacuating its stranded nationals as airspace continues to remain closed in Ukraine.
01:01Meanwhile, Indian External Affairs Minister S.J. Shankar also spoke to his Russian counterpart, Sergey Lavrov, on the situation where India once again underlined that dialogue and diplomacy are the best way forward.
