00:00The Fat Controller had a special for Thomas.

00:03You're to take two of Miss Jenny's machines to Maythwaite Forest.

00:07They're repairing the lightning tree.

00:10Yes, sir, said Thomas.

00:15Jack and Alfie were excited.

00:18They couldn't wait to see the lightning tree.

00:22Why is it called the lightning tree? asked Thomas.

00:27It was struck by lightning.

00:30It's a very old and special tree, added Miss Jenny, which is why we need to repair it.

00:36But how will we know which one it is?

00:39You'll know, Kelly laughed, it's the biggest tree in the forest.

00:44Rubbish, snarled Max.

00:46It's just a story, sneered Monty.

00:49Shh, said Jack.

00:51We need to prop it up before it falls over, said Miss Jenny.

00:54So be careful, all of you, and remember, safety first!

00:59Jack and Alfie called.

01:02Jack and Alfie made their way through the forest.

01:12Look! gasped Alfie.

01:15The lightning tree! cried Jack.

01:18The foreman had inspected the damage.

01:22Roots were pulled up.

01:23The lightning scar was long and deep.

01:26The tree looked like it would soon topple over.

01:30Jack and Alfie approached very slowly.

01:33They had remembered what Miss Jenny said about being careful.

01:36But Max and Monty were racing recklessly through the forest.

01:43Look out! cried Alfie.

01:46You'll hit the tree! shouted Jack.

01:48But it was too late.

01:51Max crashed into Monty and Monty crashed into the lightning tree.

01:56Who put this here? grumbled Monty.

01:58The tree's falling down, shouted Jack.

02:05Not my fault, called Max.

02:08We must save it, cried Alfie.

02:13Help, Jack!

02:15I'm coming, called Jack.

02:17Move aside, little fella, said Oliver.

02:20Oliver braced his mighty arm against the tree.

02:27But the tree was too heavy.

02:29Kelly! shouted Jack.

02:31We need more help!

02:35Before long, Kelly was helping too.

02:41The three of them struggled to hold the tree upright.

02:46Jack raced off to get the props from Thomas.

02:58The machines sprained to hold up the tree.

03:03But they were getting very tired.

03:06Soon the prop trolley had been attached to Jack and he was on his way.

03:11Thomas hoped Jack would get to the lightning tree in time.

03:15Jack went as fast as his wheels would carry him.

03:22Alfie pushed and pushed until his arm ached.

03:26I don't think I can hold this much longer, groaned Oliver.

03:32But Jack raced up just in time.

03:35The workmen soon attached the props.

03:44The lightning tree was safe.

03:48Hooray! groaned Alfie.

03:53Miss Jenny was pleased.

03:57A terrific job, she said.

03:59The lightning tree is safe.

04:01Kelly, Oliver, Jack and Alfie were proud.

04:06But no thanks to you two, she said to Monty and Max.

04:09You'll return to the yard immediately.

04:12Max and Monty were ashamed.

04:15They knew they were in trouble.

04:18Later, Thomas was taking Alfie and Jack back to Miss Jenny's.

04:22Look, cried Alfie.

04:26You can see it from here, called Jack.

04:30It was the lightning tree.

04:33He was glad it was safe.

04:35That night at the yards, Miss Jenny had stern words for Max and Monty.

04:43You'll be spending the next three days in your sheds, she said.

04:46And you should be ashamed of yourselves.

04:49You could have seriously hurt someone with your carelessness.

04:52We're sorry, Miss Jenny, said Monty and Max.

04:56And they truly were.
