00:00My dog bit me on my nose and my lip. He took basically the entire tip of my nose
00:05and my lip was split. My immediate thought was we have to put him down. That's exactly where
00:09my mind went, but it happened so quickly. It happened without any warnings. The surgeon gave
00:16me two options, skin graft or the forehead flap method, which is what I did. How can an area of
00:21skin that has no feeling itch so bad? This is literally me all day long. Itch, itch, itch, itch.
00:26So what made a seemingly normal dog attack out of nowhere?
00:29I went to a paint and sip class to celebrate one of my girlfriend's birthdays. I have a lot to
00:34drink. We hung out with Creole on the floor in my living room for like 20, 30 minutes. Meanwhile,
00:39James was in our bedroom sleeping with King. I went to go to bed. I opened the door,
00:44King was at the edge of the bed. I went in to give him a kiss and he bit me. It was that quick. It
00:49all happened in like five seconds. He bit the tip of my nose and the top of my lip.
00:53Can she forgive her dog for what he did? Here's what happened.
00:57I've had this dog for over 10 years. I can't believe that this happened. I had to get trainers
01:02involved. I'm like, I've had this dog for over 10 years. He didn't growl first and then bite me.
01:08It was the flip of a switch. Had he assessed that it was me, things would be completely different.
01:14King had a history of getting a little bit agitated at night. So they had mentioned like
01:18it could be a form of sundowners. They discovered an unexpected reason why a normal dog might fly off
01:23the handle. I had never heard of this before, but some dogs have a trigger response to alcohol
01:28where it just makes them flip a switch. We believe that that is the case with King.
01:33People online were begging to know what she chose to do. And also why hair was growing on her nose
01:39post-surgery. This is due to forehead flap surgery. And you're probably wondering, how does it work?
01:45This is like a little illustration thingy of it. The skin needs a blood supply. So they take the skin
01:52from here with this vein and then just flip it over. A lot of people ask why wouldn't they take
01:57the skin from here? If they would have taken it from just right here, when they flipped it over,
02:01it just wouldn't have reached. So I needed it to come all the way down here. So that's why this part
02:06of my scalp right there, it like kind of looks like an arrow. That part is that part. So yeah,
02:13that is why there's hair on my nose. This is me during phase one of the forehead flap procedure,
02:18phase two, and phase three. She just couldn't bear to have King put down.
02:23Even though that's recommended for dogs that bite, she understood that it was a one-time thing.
02:28So this is what she did instead. He doesn't sleep with us anymore.
02:32The trainer's initial, the first thing they said was no more bed, which to me makes sense now.
02:37Animal control found out about what happened from TikTok. So that's lovely. Sent an officer
02:43out today. They have to like do their job, obviously. I had a full blown panic attack and
02:49like cried my eyes out, called my mommy like a little baby. The bite is on record now for King,
02:55I think. So while King may be in the bad books legally, Shana found it in her heart to forgive him.
