00:00She's fat, but that ain't what's made her fat.
00:02You stuffing food down her face has made her fat.
00:04Humans can prevent being fat.
00:06They've got a choice as to whether or not they're fat or they're not.
00:09Dogs don't because they rely on us to feed them.
00:11Being fat for a dog matters because it puts a lot of adverse pressure on their heart.
00:15You should.
00:17Oh don't.
00:18You should.
00:18You feed her once a day.
00:20Yeah, okay, okay, okay, so you feed her once a day.
00:22How many treats do you give her during the day?
00:24What do you give her if you want to move her?
00:25Just as well.
00:26She ain't a f***ing builder.
00:27This trainer confronted her for being a bad dog owner.
00:30Blame my stepdad for that.
00:31He looks after him.
00:32No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
00:33The blame stops at you because you're her owner.
00:36I know I sound like I'm being a c***, but I've got zero sympathy.
00:40And I'm ruthless when people have fat dogs because it's not the dog's fault.
00:44It's fat.
00:45He's about to tell her some harsh truths.
00:46I understand like you've had surgery.
00:48So the last couple of months walking has been impossible.
00:50I get that that that's not an issue.
00:52But even when she was being walked, she was being walked to bare minimum.
00:56Yeah.
00:57She was literally probably being walked around the block quickly for 20 minutes to go to
01:00the toilet.
01:01And then right, in we go.
01:02Have a sausage roll.
01:02She was not expecting to hear all that, but she was the one who sought his expertise in the
01:06first place.
01:07What dog you got?
01:08Collie Cross.
01:08I rescued her from a dog's trust last June, wasn't it?
01:11Yeah.
01:12And she's so reactive.
01:13How old is she?
01:13Paul.
01:14Always being reactive.
01:15Yeah, yeah.
01:15What sort of things she do?
01:16If I'm walking, she pulls me and I can't, I can't hold her and she barks everything.
01:21Little did she know she had been doing something dangerous.
01:24The only thing I can do at the moment in the car to go to the bathroom is to grab a water bottle.
01:27Was it another trainer that told you to use a water bottle or was it just something you've
01:30seen in the fridge?
01:31Yeah.
01:32Okay.
01:32Trouble with using, um, like a water bottle is if she don't like the water and she develops
01:39a fear of it.
01:40Yeah.
01:41She can stop drinking.
01:42And if she stops drinking, you've got days to get her to drink.
01:44Yeah.
01:44Or she's, cause she'll dehydrate.
01:46Yeah, yeah.
01:46She just wanted to correct her dog's behaviour, but it could have ended badly.
01:49I'm going to correct a dog's behaviour, but you don't intentionally want to correct it,
01:53but it's like it needs to survive.
01:55Yeah, of course, yeah.
01:55Cause if they do develop a fear of it, then they'll go, yeah, no, um, and I've had dogs,
02:00I've worked with dogs before now where the client's done that and the dog's just developed such
02:05fear of it, it's gone, um, my drink.
02:07I just want to walk down the road with her, not be dragged, and not bark at everything.
02:12He quickly figured out what was causing her dog to be so reactive.
02:15How long is she going out for?
02:16She's just half an hour.
02:17That alone can add to her behaviour.
02:20Okay.
02:20Because she's not getting enough exercise.
02:22So a dog really, especially a dog like her, should be having at least like an hour and a half
02:27working weeks a day.
02:28The more she gets to go out, and the more she gets to go and explore, and the calmer she is,
02:33the less she'll start to react to things.
02:36Now he could guide her to do the right things to help her dog.
02:38But if you imagine living your life at 100 miles an hour, or living your life of anxiety,
02:44and how much nicer it would be if someone took all that anxiety away from you,
02:48that's effectively what you're doing with her.
02:50It is my job to tell my client harsh home truths if they are needed to be said.
02:55Although he can be harsh,
02:56he doesn't want people online to leave negative comments about his clients.
