Department of Science and Technology (DOST) Secretary Renato U. Solidum Jr. clarifies that there are no cuts to the agency’s scholarship program. Speaking at the National Science, Technology, and Innovation Week 2025 in Laoag City on Nov. 19, 2025, Solidum told The Manila Times that there were no 'scholarship cuts' because there were no reductions in the budget. He added that universities were assigned a specific number of scholarship slots funded by DOST. The statement comes after AGHAM Diliman, a science students-based organization, called on DOST-Science Education Institute (SEI) after claiming that more than 70 master's and PhD students have been affected by the agency’s scholarship cut at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
