A tense moment unfolded during a press availability when a reporter from ABC News questioned President Donald Trump about potential conflicts of interest involving his family doing business in Saudi Arabia while he is president. The reporter also attempted to ask Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman (MBS) about U.S. intelligence findings regarding the killing of journalist Jamal Khashoggi.

Trump immediately interrupted the question, asked the reporter which outlet she was with, and dismissed the exchange by calling ABC “fake news.” The exchange highlights the longstanding friction between Trump and major U.S. news organizations.

00:00Mr. President, Mr. President, is it appropriate,
00:02Mr. President, for your family to be doing business
00:05in Saudi Arabia while you're President?
00:06Is that a conflict of interest?
00:08And, Your Royal Highness, the U.S.
00:10intelligence concluded that you orchestrated
00:12the brutal murder of a journalist.
00:149-11 families are furious that you are here
00:16in the Oval Office.
00:17The President, who are you with?
00:18The President, who are you with?
00:19The President, and the same to you, Mr. President.
00:20The President, who are you with?
00:21The President, I'm with ABC News, sir.
00:22The President, you're with who?
00:23The President, ABC News, sir.
00:23The President, fake news.
00:24ABC, fake news.
00:25One of the worst, one of the worst in the business.
00:27But I'll answer your question.
00:29I have nothing to do with the family business.
00:31I have left, and when I've devoted 100% of my energy,
00:35what my family does is fine.
00:37They do business all over.
00:39They've done very little with Saudi Arabia, actually.
00:41I'm sure they could do a lot.
00:43And anything they've done has been very good.
00:45That's what we've done.
00:46We've built a tremendous business for a long time.
00:48I've been very successful.
00:50I decided to leave that success behind
00:52and make America very successful.
00:54And I've made America more successful by far
00:56than it ever was, and that it ever could have been,
01:00no matter who was President.
01:01There would be nobody bringing in $21 trillion.
01:04That I can tell you right now.
01:05As far as this gentleman is concerned,
01:08he's done a phenomenal job.
01:09You're mentioning somebody that was extremely controversial.
01:13A lot of people didn't like that gentleman
01:15that you're talking about.
01:16Whether you like him or didn't like him, things happen.
01:19But he knew nothing about it.
01:20And we can leave it at that.
01:21You don't have to embarrass our guests
01:23by asking a question like that.
01:24The Pressel- I feel painful about, you know,
01:31families of 9-11 in America.
01:35But, you know, we have to focus on reality.
01:37Reality, based on CIA documents
01:39and based on a lot of documents,
01:41that Osama Bin Laden used Saudi people in that event
01:45for one main purpose, is to destroy this relation,
01:49to destroy the American-Saadi relation.
01:51That's the purpose of 9-11.
01:53So whoever buying that, that means they are helping
01:56Osama Bin Laden's purpose of destroying this relation.
01:59He knows that strong relation between America
02:01and Saudi Arabia, it's bad for extremism.
02:03It's bad for terrorism.
02:04And we have to approve him wrong
02:08and to build our relation,
02:09continue developing our relation.
02:11It's critical in the safety of the world.
02:12It's critical against extremism and terrorism.
02:15About the journalists, it's really painful to hear,
02:20you know, anyone that's been losing his life for,
02:24you know, no real purpose or nothing in a legal way.
02:28And it's been painful for us in Saudi Arabia.
02:30We've did all the right steps of investigation,
02:35et cetera, in Saudi Arabia.
02:36And we've improved our system to be sure
02:39that nothing happened like that.
02:41And it's painful and it's a huge mistake.
02:43And we are doing our best that this doesn't happen again.
02:46Mr. President, Mr. President, this side, Mr. President.
02:48The Press- Thank you, Mr. President.
02:50The Crown Prince has been instrumental
02:52in helping lifting the sanctions on Syria.
02:56Will there be any joint investment
02:59between the U.S. and Syria?
03:00And will you visit Damascus in Syria?
03:02The President- Are you from Syria?
03:03The Press- No, but I'm...
03:04The President- Where are you from?
03:05The Press- I'm from Palestine.
03:07The President- Oh, you're making a lot of progress, huh?
03:09The President- They like me, the Palestinians like me.
03:14The Palestinians are doing very well, actually.
03:16I think we're working very closely with a lot of people
03:18that make everybody happy, including Israel,
03:20the Palestinians, and everybody.
03:22That's very interesting.
03:24No, I think that, I will tell you, the Crown Prince
